  • I've got the Soup version CD single. Picked it up for 99p in a bargain bin at a record shop back in the day.

  • From the MoodFood album, classic chilled toon, lost myself in this a few times back then, thanks for upping :)

  • the original version of this has that historical speech by the MAN HIMSELF MR MARTIN LUTHER KING!!! & whom ever has a copy of the cd,best u treasure it as it is worth hundreds if not thousand of $ on e bay (as the cd it self has been deleted)...the whole album is a trip of it's own!!!

  • @yossole ill giv you 20 dollar for it,thx

  • im guessing it could be a 12inch version of the song or something but it was around 1990 also and i heard it first in mid october 1990. a yr before chrissy hynde butchered it with lyrics and that martin luther king speech (which i didnt need to hear in the song - not like i have anything against mlk, i respect him fully)

  • @UnionMetalhead

You will have to check Ebay on this (I got your message about the CD, and, you will find that the version you are looking for is on the CD Single that has 3 versions of that song on it, but, it is on the "Campbells Soup" covered CD single (There are two different CD singles with that label, one with 2 songs one with 3) It is the LONG version on the 3 track CD single that you are looking for. It is a RARE one. It is stil for sale on Ebay. Email me at: mrdjs7 (AT) yahoo.com

  • @mrdjs7 sorry i never got back in contact. you say this 12min song is on ebay? sadly i dont have ebay as i was cut off from using it after 5months of having an account - i dnt know why, unless i werent using it often. but i dnt know if i will be able to get back on ebay or not. the 12min version is up on you tube now but it would be nice to have the cd of it to listen to - to take away with me when i go away - for meditational purposes also.

  • @UnionMetalhead-Oh it's alright. I ended up buying that one about a month ago. It didn't have the right mix on it. I'd have to look through my collection to find the right one. It is a rarity. I'll hit you back if'n I can find it and either burn one for you or find one using the numbers on the disc itself.

  • @Gaytkeeper7 thanks for the feedback. good luck in finding this. there is the full length version on here now tho not quite as good as having the copy yourself, its great to be able to hear it and im soo thankful for the person who put the full length version up on here. i listen to it regularly :)

  • Ok, heres the situation, in 1990, annie nightingale played a long version of this song on her request show, it was the same as this roughly upto the 6min13 mark, however, it went on about a further 5minutes and had some distant star trek quotes in the background towards the end of the song and there were no lyrics throughout the duration of the song, does anybody know of this version and if so could they please point me out to it? thanks. Ive been looking for the long 10min+ version for years!

  • @UnionMetalhead I remember Annie playing it. Found it a few days later in HMV London, the one without Chrissie's voice. Praying its still buried somewhere in my collection...

  • ...just to let you know that ive uploaded the original moodfood megamix version of this track, taken from the cd single , i have got every mix of this track but this mix has to be the best..enjoy

  • The second CD single has a version called "the very original mix". It's similar to this but different too. The first CD single has the "original edit". It's also similar to this, but shorter.

    So many versions.

I've made my own version (Audacity Dub) to add the confusion.

  • How many versions of this?

I've got 3 on CD single

    (State of independance) 4:31

    (Moodfood megamix) 9:15

    (Original edit) 4:42

I reckon this is the original, considering that it sounds just like the "original edit", but longer.

  • anyone post the crunch mix?

  • Awesome, thanks for posting. There's another mix I used to love called the Mood Food Megamix - just built and built until finally you get the Martin Luther King speech and then the vocal drops to carry you home. Lovely.

  • @jogghogg

I've done a proper train spotter analysis of all the mixes I have on CD single.

The Moodfood megamix is the MLK version with an extra two minutes spliced in from 01.04.

  • speechless so so good

  • fucking tune - what a journey - 10 mins of bliss

  • yeh i agree this was the version i had and by far the stand out.TRIED AND TESTED

  • Comment removed

  • Chrissie Hynde pissed all over this on the later release, this version is much better with the original Donna Summer sample.

  • it s good, but crissie hynde does not piss all over anything. she is living legend and goddess.

  • This song reminds me of coming home after a night of dancing and "rolling" at one of the many illegal parties in my hometown. Rolling spliff after spliff and chilling out at a mates house, then passing out as the sun came up.

  • best version

  • had this on 12" white label but for some reason the label was pink? Beautiful tune and one i will never forget. Class post mrgee :)

  • got it, love it - classic tune!

  • first heard this on Annie Nightingale while halfway up a Welsh mountain picking mushrooms! Always loved it, and like others have said much better than the remake they had to do

  • This tune saved my soul after many a crazy night!! Love it...

  • @leeGLAmcc ...just to let you know that ive uploaded the original moodfood megamix version of this track, taken from the cd single , i have got every mix of this track but this mix has to be the best..enjoy

  • @clothmonkeybag do u happen to own the version that lasts about 12minutes with star trek quotes in about the last 3minutes of the song that are distant, and theres no lyrics through the rest of the song? the version i was referring to the other day on the comments sector? used to be played on annie nightingales sunday evening request show in late 1990. been looking for it for years, song lasts around 12minutes or so. is it the other version of this also released on zoom 2? get back to me.

  • @UnionMetalhead ...sorry to let you down ....but no i dont have that version...and i know exactly the one you are on about...the old friend who got me into moodswings has now vanished...he was super anal about his music, had EVERY mix by the orb, klf, moodswings etc etc...infact as proof of this i will sent you via a message a rare thing he gave me coz he had 2 copies..anyway..i remember getting wrecked at his and hearing star trek within a version he played..tryed to find him on facebook..no joy.

  • @UnionMetalhead

Here, hope you get this before it's gone. It's on Ebay!!!

    ebay.com/Pretenders-MOODSWINGS-Spiritual-High-MEGAMIX-CD-Single-/260676247183?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item3cb183de8f

  • @mrdjs7 tried the link and it stated that page no longer existed - lol looks like they didnt wast emuch time! tho in the link i notice pretenders so isnt that going to be the chrissy hynde version?

  • classic tune from back in the day I lose myself listening to it,its by far the best version.

  • awesome, and much better than the remake they had to do for the official release

  • agree the zoom release was always the best :-)
