When I was likie 6 or 7 I remember seeing a movie and the only scene I kinda remember is a Dad and a daughter are sitting on a bench and the Dad tells the girl to put her hand down his pants because it's cold outside or someng like that. Is that in this movie or am I thinking of some other one? All I know is it tramatized me!
i am addicted to it..have watched it over and over and over again. i always recommend this movie..
jennifer and kathy are so good in this movie and of course judy...
it is haunting and hypnotic...
in the book the scene where joe falls into the well, was much more suspenseful than what appeared in the movie, but the movie as a whole is fanatastic.
"high talk from someone who has a racist comment on his personal description for african decendant people. Why are u still alive? Kill yourself already."
Try to make the connection oh brilliant one. Racism and homophobia are NOT cool. It appears you have reading comprehension problems.
Kill yourself? Yeah like that's gonna happen over some moron's retort on YouTube over the movie Dolores Claiborne.
This is by far one of my absolute favorite films. It is also my favorite score by the composer (Elfman). I've written several papers (college) on this particular movie and continue to enjoy it immensely. This is singularly, I believe Kathy Bates' most underrated performance. How wonderful it must have been to have worked on the film. Intensely hard work, nonetheless I imagine.
Oh thank you so much, well it was all a work of love and everyone involved really poured their hearts and 100% effort into this little masterpiece.
On behalf of the crew and cast...thanks everyone, I am looking forward to the deluxe 2 dvd Blue Ray edition coming out next year from what I heard from Taylor!
No not at all, however I do recall he was on the set and he worked on the screenplay adaptation himself along with the movie production screen-writers all to put out the best adaptation for the cinema, I recall him saying at a press conference it was an improvement over his novel, I was still getting my legs in the industry, and listened more than talked, before producing and directing and writing, for myself & others now.
As someone who worked with her on this film I can only suggest her honesty and vulnerabilty as a human being shines through in each of her characters on screen and the stage, imo she is one of the most misunderstood and underated actresses of all time....by some.
tell me.. what was your work in Dolores Claiborne?
We obviously disagree on Jennifer Jason Leigh's talent. I restate I think she's dreadful and her "underrated" status is only of her own doing. Even the scenes where she connects with her urban here and now are forced and she appears ill at ease in them.
Her rating doesn't deserve to be any higher. Bates can act...(fortunately for the scenes with J. Jason Leigh too) since Kathy Bates had to carry every scene they share.
This was so long ago! I was working in Nova Scotia on the Taylor Hackford project with both Kathy Bates and Jennifer Leigh as a dialogue coach. The reason you are hearing Ms. Leigh character mumbling so much in the story was because she was playing a pill popping/drunkard role, one who was barely in control of herself @ times throughout the movie, and did not understand why she was like this due to blanking out her abusive father from her childhood.
yes Videoblast, its really hard to believe that 12 years has gone by ..isnt it my friend!...and it is such a good movie with strong performances all around!
(of course im a tad biased, lol)
oh and btw ,your videos are great!!! ***** star all the way!
The movie is amazing. It is one of those I must watch every few months. Themes of female bonding, lifelong regrets, incest and self-sustaining obsession are all gracefully, yet starkly examined. The whole cast is spectacular, and Jennifer Jason Leigh (my all-time favorite actor, is brilliant.)

So are you saying Stephen King says that most movies are better than the books?
I do agree that the movie is better, though.
