  • Love this song. Although i think you mimic Alan Cumming just a bit too much.

  • i love your performance! i love this song and you did a great job at it!

  • Good.. but make it your own>>to alan cumming esque>>>

  • <3 U!!!

  • Mmmm boy you can sing ;)

  • so i think i just fell in love with your voice?

    hah. :)

    that was brilliant.

    your dynamics were excelent.

  • So wonderful. You're so talented. Just awesome.

  • I think you did a good job. Be careful not to go flat when going falsetto. I also noticed it in the beginning. The intention was great. I think you should focus a little less on enticing and more on conviction. I also don't know if you need the accent. Unless of course you performed this in a show.

  • Dude. You need to post more videos of you singing as yourself. The Patti stuff is spectacular, but things like this are equally enthralling and really freaking good!

  • omg omg omg omg. I love!

  • Hooray! Have fun wearing undies in front of thousands of random strangers!

  • Why would he be doing that?

  • Because that's what the Cabaret MC does IN Cabaret... it's who sings the song in the play... Cabaret's a play.

  • Trust me, I'm well aware what Cabaret is, having been in the show myself. I am also fully confident in saying that the EMCEE does not traditionally run around the stage in scantily clad clothing. That was just a look developed in the most recent broadway revival.

PS: Cabaret is a musical, not a play. It is based on the play "I Am a Camera" which in turn is based on the novel "The Berlin Stories".

  • Calm down dude, it's just a comment on the internet.

  • good! but now u need the costume

  • I loved this so much..........Michael at his best xoxoxoxo

  • Critics should only comment with their renditions of the same song! If this world had more performers than critics life would be a more interesting place to LIVE

  • push with that diaphram love I had trouble hearing you. Remembering Whispering in the theatre is always loud. Everything must be heard

  • lots of intonation issues

  • I have to agree with some other comments on here. I have been looking at preparing this song as a possible audition song because it can display great range/character depth. You have an amazing voice but with a song like this you really need to put yourself more into it. It's hard when this song has been so beautifully done by Alan but you really need to make it your own. Great job and keep up the work.

  • That was pretty good. I don't think it was an exact copy of Alan Cumming, you didn't push the notes as much as he did dynamically speaking. as for the German accent and stuff that's the character of the MC. A little bit more of your own charaterization would have been nice, but for just singing the song It was very good.

  • I love this!!! But I think you'd be even better if you were a bit less Alan Cumming :)

    <3

  • Amazing... simply amazing... This show is one of my favs, seen it too many times to count! You gave me goosebumps... doesn't happen often... You either have it or you've had it? YOU HAVE IT!!!

  • if this was a lets copy the soundtrack to a tee competition you'd win!

btw thats not a good thing

  • Fantastic. Absolutely Fantastic!!

  • michael burbach SUCKS!

    jk. :)

i love this. sing it for me next time we hang out. thanks.

  • good performance, however, I think you should try to bring more of yourself into the performance, and not try to imitate Alan Cumming.

  • i thought that w a s the point...

  • no, people don't get famous for being able to act like other people, they get famous by having thier own personal style that no one can quite recreate. Nathan Lane, Gene Wilder, Harvey Firestein, etc. That what makes them so good.

  • @theagreen21 agreed. Alan Cumming made this role by doing his own thing.

  • Beautiful! Bravo!

  • I really, really love this version! I have listened to it for 5 times in a row now, LOL.

  • Okay so here's my professional bit:

In a recording like this you should make sure that you can still hear the pp bit at the beginning, and the accent should never get the way of understanding.

My Pedagogical comment would be more for the emotional slides and dramatics, should never take the piece off key. Rule to live by: No matter how beautiful the sound is, no one wants to listen to it if it is off pitch. And many times I found that it was falling, especially with the runs down.

  • you did a fantastic job!!

who's your favorite emcee, because I hear a lot of Alan Cumming influence in there.

  • i don't really like alan cumming as emcee he does an amazing job but my fave is jhon stamos

  • so amazing dude, fabulous

  • Seriously...you must play the emcee someday!

Don't listen to any negative feedback you get...you are REALLY talented!!!

  • great job

  • beautiful voice..

  • you sound better when you take the piss

  • I forgot to mention: It is nice to see you perform a serious/tragic song. I assume you did Patti Lupone's "Rose's Turn" as a comedic tribute.

  • The videos you have posted are a great display of your range.

  • My best friend and I idolize you for your Patti LuPone immitations, and to see you doing a serious performance is awesome. I'm auditioning for NFAA next year and this is one of the songs I was considering. And I sang "Purpose" last year in a cabaret at my high school...so to see you doing both is really inspiring. You're great.

  • Thank you so much! :D

  • gosh I hope to see you on a stage someday.

  • well TO YOU it's boring, b/c your user name is "boreddude15"!

I think that Michael Burbach will make a sensational as "The Emcee" in years to come!

  • you need to get a life if you're going to sit around and shit talk people.

upload a video of you and your amazing voice if you're better.

  • you are amazing.

i wanna be your best friend, frreal.

    or, yenno, more. ;D haha.

  • You might hate this comment - but get your ass to the gym. In the working world, your shoulder caps will get you jobs, sometimes before your voice or ability. You are wonderfully witty and trained and talented - and you DO have a voice to. Now dazzle 'em by getting what slats and guns you can. You'll be surprised by what will come of it... Oh, And BREAK A LEG!

  • You sing good.

    I just sing like crap.

  • God you're good (that is not a meat-pie reference).

  • You're awesome. You need to post more videos like this (like you of actually singing). I can't wait until we both are in New York!

  • Bravo. Lovely job. Well done.

  • Ah! It's so exciting to hear you perform a song fo' real. Of course, the parody videos are great, but hearing your real voice is so much better!

  • I agree....Michael as Michael is so much better......He is amazing♥

  • Thanks, guys!!

  • Hey Michael, that was great! I loved the live piano too! I've never gotton into this genre of music much, but since I started watching you I've started to get interested in it. It seems to be growing on me! haha..I was listening to Al Hirt earlier and was thinking how cool it would be if you could to one of his tunes...Great job!

  • Showtunes are the way of life. :D
