to everyone who knocks gm cheung. everybody idolizes bruce soo much. bottom line bruce lee Idolized gm. cheung. followed him from station to station when training. cheung got bruce into Ip Man. they were in the same street gang. cheung was in over 100 rooftop fights & never lost is why bruce idolized him & thats also confirmed by a old hawkins cheung interview in inside kung fu in 70s.hawkins cheung was 1 of bruces school mates & studied wing chun together. he does the Leung Bik traditional!
i have much respect for William Chueng, He taught my Sifu, Sifu Randy Koller, and William Chueng was a great martial artist, some say he is even said to be Grandmaster Yip's favorite pupil, even more than Bruce Lee, due to his deication
Quite amazing how many people that dont like William Chueng, watch all his video's. People still bring up the disgrace by Emin Boztepe. He's modified Escrima into his Ving Tsun system.(nothing should be added nor taken away)(kuen kit). Wing Chun can be one or two single technics or a vast amount of footwork along with wing chun attacks vs wing chun principles(highest level)
@arkapok81 my man. All of his shit is made up. He doesnt even apply economy of motion to his wing chun. He moves way to much. Also u said that he "altered" forms, well if he changed the forms, then it isn't fake wing chun is.it ? And its definitely not "traditional wing chun" he claimed to have learned from yip man. U cant change something and.say that's what it is. The style doesnt belong to him.
that biu ji form is completely wrong... no offense william cheung or any of his students but he only received a year in a half of wing training from yip man then moved to australia. idk where found or learned this form. And the movements are to big and too much motion is being executed.
@dagr83st93 No mate, that's a load of crap that GM Cheung only had a year and a half of training. Also, someone who has been training for nearly 60 years has the right to alter any of the forms, thats why he calls his method of fighting William Cheungs Wing Chun.
Bruce lee praised His Si Hing William Chueng as one great fighter. As of this date I've seen many different sub styles of WC. Most have center lie footwork or side stand but not all 6 basic stances. Yip Man simplified the system and changed what the forms originally were.
Weather the story is true or not doesn't explain why Yip Mans students all teach somewhat different. William Chueng exhibits a more technical aspect of Wing Chun. The use of different footwork shows a more advanced understanding of mobility with correct ability to defend or attack along with proper distanceing. This can be seen in only one other system of Wing Chun. Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun has the same traits and footwork. Most WC have very limited footwork ,usually createing long arm short arm.
@Daddyo94521 It all depends on what point and time the person was a student of GM Ip Man. For GM Ip Man was educated in Physics, and over time used his knowledge of Physics to simplify and modify his Wing Chun. There is even and account from Ip Ching that he had went to the main land for some time and when he returned, he noticed a drastic change in his fathers Wing Chun.
My Wing Chun is the one true Wing Chun. I know it's the one true Wing Chun because my master said it was the one true Wing Chun. And I know he is right, because his master said it was the one true Wing Chun.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. The sequences aren't even correct. Huen Sao in gun Sao section, wrong. BIu jee in fak Sao section, wrong. Kwan Sao section? Wrong. Po pai, wrong. Po pai and Kwan Sao are in dummy form, no need to repeat, not efficient. Huen Sao should be in fak Sao section. BIu jee is a separate section. Kicking is in CK and dummy form only NOT biu jee! Please show one video of ANY other Yip Man student doing the form this way. You can't!
@gosoku2 We can learn from each sifu as to how they interpret each movement. Each person has an interpretation of what is proper, but the key is it is about who they are, not about Wing Chun. Wing Chun is an expression of who they are, their interpretation of the art. If you watch Sifu Wan Kam Leung, his style is so flowery and soft, like a dance but yet he has great skill in Wing Chun,
@gosoku2 my friend that's not wrong, he just not stick to the traditional biu jie form. now days civilization a lot of wingchun form have been modified by a lot of full time wingchun practiser. the purpose is to make it even better. some of them really do, some of them just simply spoil the wingchun name. that's no rite or wrong as long as we can apply it in our life and we practice it for some reason. good luck bro...
"Making it up yourself" is the OPPOSITE of "traditional".
The fact is, Cheung left Ip's school before he learned this form, so he made up his own, & concocted a story about "secret" training in a "secret version of WC" to explain the fact that his shit is nothing like anything Ip Man ever taught anyone.
ip man's bill jee is the authentic form..none of this praying matis on hot stove dance routine!
cant beleive people with brains believe willys stories about ip man teaching him the only traditional style, haha
willys forms, books, dvd, massage cream, meridan therapy, secret dim mak is proof that when u r sh1t at something, make up enough lies & one day enough people will believe.dont forget to make as much money off them at the same time too ;). ipmans kickin in his grave!!
It's ASTOUNDING how anyone could actually believe Cheung's bullshit stories...especially now that, because of the 'net, we all have access to so much information.
Instead of criticising here visit a cheung's seminar and talk with him about what is better......be constructive....say why this is shit and your style is the best
It's not about what is better. It honestly doesn't matter whether or not William Cheung has the Best System Ever.
The reason so many people hate him has nothing to do with how effective his system is or is not. It's because he LIES, and his lies insult the character of Ip Man, insult his former classmates, and it's simply wrong to lie to your trusting, paying students about what you're teaching them.
It's said that Yip Man only taught Cheung the true Wing Chun form as he was told to by his 2nd teacher. There is no proof of any of this I did my own research and choose not to side with any of Yip Man's students. Cheung says he decided it was time to reveal the art. I have been looking into branches not connected with Yip Man and his teachers. Hung Fa Yi is what I found.
Yes, this is what he says, and he is very adamant about it, but maybe because that was what he was told. It is indisputable that he learnt his wing chun from Yip Man, but it is highly skeptical that he learnt some from anyone else. Hung Fa Yi looks very similar on the outside, but on the inside it is completely different to TWC, so I've heard. Yip Man was not the only Wing Chun man in HK, he knew many Wing Chun cousins, and even more back in Foshan. Wing Chun is always evolving.
In the 60's and 70's the flying finger form was only spoken of. In fact the Beautiful Springtime system was a rare system and I only saw it sparringly and I was living very close to San Francisco, This man was even spoken of highly by Sifu Lee during this time and many considered him the best street fighter alive. I do not know the form performed or even the system, but consider this man an expert who chose to show it, in this form for a reason. Be kind guys, please. Master Ron Saturno
The force should be generated by rotation of the whole body not by stepping like shown here... See here ctJ2KMc6VzI or here cwG8xLTKkUs for a real form.
@WingChunLover2 mm..... no. Ip Man himself doesn't do any step in Chum Kiu rotations (check here qjTypOfAzBU). Therefore I don't know where William Cheung learnt his forms from, but certainly not from Ip Man, as he claims. :/
@Nikoo033 When you say Yip Man, do you mean the video he made before he died?
This was made about 12 years after William Cheung was a student. Form or no form, there is no body rotation that would not require a foot movement. This is simple balance and line of attack.
@WingChunLover2 It's not a matter of age. See another example : W1-VekjiG_k. No stepping all over the place. Just whole rotation of the body to generate the force.
@WingChunLover2 you know why no one shows it... Cause no is better thats why, the rest all look sloppy and much slower, the man has the fastest Roll punch in the world

@gstartube grow up man. seriously. Whether you agree or strongly disagree...it's just bad taste.
Like him or not. He was a senior student at Yip Man's school and knew him personally. That' s just a fact.
Few alive today can claim that. Even if you don't like him, elders deserve respect. Likely he will know more about WC than twenty of you ever will.
BTW, Yip Man's school wasn't exactly free either. He had to make a buck too, to support himself and his opium addiction. Another fact.
