I personally like Fear of a Black Planet and maybe even Apocalypse 91 more than It Takes a Nation of Millions. This album has been so hyped up as the greatest thing ever in rap, it has kind of lost it's appeal to me since I first heard it. For instance, the hook in this song is kinda annoying and Flavor Flav overstays his welcome. But in FOABP, his presence is enjoyable and never annoying. Plus he's actually funny there.
@BClark530 I used to agree with this, but now it has lost most of what made it special for me. Flavor Flav in particular is really annoying at times. Everything in Nations was perfected when they released Fear of a Black Planet. Flav's solo for instance is annoying, most instrumentals have the enjoyable factor semi-removed by Flav never shutting up and hearing "public enemy" 10000 times in the one minute it lasts. But yeah, the best tracks are all time classics. (Black Steel etc...)
@ihavekankles i was a metal freak for years and i'd listen to nothing else but metal. then, in1990 when i was 17, a guy i was in school with loaned me "it takes a nation of millions. . . . " and "In the jungle groove" by james brown. changed the way my ears heard things!!!!!!!!
this music used to have a message and it wasn't i gots big rims and slang dope haha man i miss this shit " CIA FBI all they tell us is lies and when i say that they get alarmed , cus i'm louder that a bomb"
POWERFUL!!! THE GREATEST HIPHOP ALBUM OF ALL TIMES! Nobody in Hiphop today can come close to this!! In fact who call really call themselves a true Hiphop act these days besides Jay Z, Q-Tip, Meth and Red, EPMD?
@scartissue121 -Well,when groups like mine put out that real shit, then make sure you support it ,instead of that new baby bullshit out now. Don't worry, were coming with that REAL HIP HOP!!
this shit iz bangin and thats on tha strength! all the cats in prison used to go ape shit over this shit when they played this on the yard during rec. peace to all them 5% nation cats and alllll the muslims on the inside that finally found ALLAH and the true meaning of life. its never too late to learn how to be a civilized man. peace to all those who have died for the cause and even went out blasting for what they believed in. word iz bond!
listening to this back the 80's when i was a kid i would always flip out when they scratched 'come on!' at the end of the last chorus (3:17 the old guy voice) because i always thought my dad was calling me!
oh and all the posts here are right, PE are the rap gods, sorry you missed it noobs!
i'm with you. to blazes with a lot of the "hip hop" or "rap" released after 2001. today's hip hop is fit for ringtones not pumpin iin your car or rockin a party
oh, so this song has been cheapened by a shitty movie- well that made my day
