The Charlier Shuffle does not suck. It's not a great flourish, but it's a fine cut.

Seems like a prick. He's mad at Lee Asher, De'vo, the internet, and doesn't know the history of magic in the first place. The Charlier Cut sucks? That's why my performance and use of a Charlier gets a reaction other than a headache from the audience.

i was about to post something similar.
he made a dvd about card cheating. obviously he doesn't know shit about it because the charlier wasn't a flourish, it was invented as a pass.

sorry, i meant it was invented as a shift. and i've seen a video where it was used as a shift. it's done with misdirection. while pulling up your seleves or covering the deck for a sec to get a drink.
regardless. that's like saying cards suck because you can't make good clothing out of them. you could probly make clothes from them, but they weren't invented for that..
the charlier doesn't suck because it wasn't invented as a flourish. period.

Like I said, I do dare you to go ahead and try using the charlier as a control. I'd say that it's pretty stupid trying to use the charlier as a control when there are more reliable controls, not to mention the fact that trying to make a misdirection for a charlier is extremely stupid when there are better passes even in the one handed department, but what ever. I think it looks good with a revolution, but performing only charliers sucks. If doing whatever gets reactions pleases you, be my guest.

i didn't say the charlier is the best shift there is. i didn't say everyone should use it. and i didn't say it impresses people. i'm saying that you need to give respect where respect is due, you can't call the charlier a shitty flourish because it's not a flourish. that's that. there's no arguing about it.

You guys can't really say it's a crappy flourish, because we're comparing it to the modern, complex one-handed flourishes we're seeing being created today. The charlier was created something like over 100 years ago, and yes it's simple, and I'm not gonna argue about if it was made as a shift or flourish, but I'm pretty sure it was one of the first one handed cuts created. So saying that it's shit would be like saying that a 1960s Ford is shit, which it is, but that is because we are comparing

it is very understood y he is mad..well first people thing he sucks cuz he cant teach with is true. what i dont get is y people think he isnt good. his whole speed vs smoothness all depends on his style. other than those arguments,, i do agree wit him in that he is the fastest out thee by far and i support him for that...he is definetly 1 of the greats
