deen castronovo by far out sings arnel i have been a journey fan since i was 8 i am 45 gone to over 20 journey concerts ,so i say to all of you who praise arnel he will never be steve perry never my hat off to deen he sings with passion just like perry did and you can understand what he is singing i will always love journey even with arnel but steve will always be #1 deen ur not too far behind!

@ten8goa Deen's vocals are being picked up by the same low quality mics and yet his tone is superior to Arnels, and Deen is playing drums at the same time, so breath control is not going to be a picnic for Deen. Deen clearly outshines Arnel in this two song clip, and Deens sense of musical phrasing and melody is much more in line with Perry's than Arnels. Steve Perry was all about phrasing, range and melody, and Deen has more of these three elements than does Arnel.

@vivalaleta Arnel does not sustain the notes to their full value with a good solid resonant tone. Those were Perry trademarks when Perry was in his prime.  Arnel simply botched lights, and Deen steals the show for the next song
