  • I happened to be at the Opry this day...and they sounded so much better in person.

  • Did they get a new bass player?

  • @sorenrules The new bassist is John Cowan, I saw him play with them yesterday in front of 15,000 people, I was a roadie haha

  • So many wigs but the same great music. Love you guys

  • I like John Cowan and have for many years. I've seen him in person once at The Birchmere.

But, I just have to ask, "What were the Doobie Brothers doing on The Grand Ole Opry?" Who's booking for that show now? Good grief.

  • love this sound.... :)

  • Surely this performance isn't up to the original recording, but we must acknowledge this as an accoustic version of the song....

With drums, bass and electric guitars, these guys rock.

As far as I can realize, it seems to me that the years have surely taken a toll on Jonhston's voice. Maybe he should drop the key....

  • Concordo com todos os comentários

  • * * * * *

  • Jamesskb hit it on the head. I love the Doobies but this was bad.

  • Awsome.

  • Seen them at Iowa State Fair last night, was such a great show!!! I will absolutely see them again, if get chance! \m/ \m/ =)

  • Wow without the drums this song is like so empty

  • The guys look and sound fantastic - Rolling Stones eat your HEART OUT!!! lol

  • No drums?

  • FOLKS, remember this is the Grand Ole Opry. A country music landmark and institution. I have seen these guys several times and the vocal mix in this performance is terrible. If you want to see them rock, go to a rock n roll venue (HOB) and check them out. As a half ass guitarist whose played in out of bands for many years, I can tell you bands feed off of the energy from the audience. They are a much better band than what you hear in this clip!!! I love country too, but this is a mismatch.

I agree with you never saw Tom Johnston singing so evil, do not think he was so inspired that horrible day .. and I enjoy the Doobie Brothers many years.

  • If Vince Gill was on stage they would have Applauded.

  • The audience looked to be either coming from or going to a funeral..and showed little emotion or appreciation. That is not the way of the South...You Southern folks should be proud! Mr Lee loved music. When Grant could care less about music, Mr Robert Lee assembled many bands to keep the moral of the troops up..They entertained both sides of the war..The SOUTH IS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC...The Doobie brothers 'countrafied' their show as much as possible and still no one cared!!

  • that was a sad proformance

the people were just sitting there like

"oh you want me to feel emotion, im sorry"

  • My all-time favorite band. I saw them in the 70's, 80's and 90's. They still rock!

  • what a terrible crowd, shame on them.

  • One of the best songs ever! Greetings from Hamburg, Germany. Einer der besten songs aller Zeiten! The Doobies are great!!!

  • doobies were awesome...my wife and i's anniversary trip seeing these guys perform..brought back memories of seeing them in high school..they rocked then and still do now!!!! sitting down front and singing with the band -great night -one to remember

  • Get to see The Doobie Brothers this July. My bucket list of concerts is topped off with tom johnston and pat simmons....

  • John Cowan took over (again-also on "Live at Budakon" tour) for Skylark to suffered a stroke in the past 2 years. He is recovering well, and I know looks forward to getting back in the groove with The Brothers! Of course Skylark took over for Tiran Porter, the Doobie's long time friend and Bassist Extraordinaire who helped cement their original sound and style. Tiran took over for Dave Shroegen (sp?, sorry), who played and sang back-ups on their 1st album titled "The Doobie Brothers".

  • @CUPanacea I also think John is an Excellent Bassist and Vocalist/songwriter (Listen to "You Can't Stand to Lose" from Sibling Rivalry 2001) He's played off and on as a Studio Musician with the Doobs over the years. He's a great addition-even if temporary-to the band. One other thing is, he can definitely, solidly, hold a band together.........!

  • awesome

  • Nice. The original lead vocalists. Personally couldn't stand them during the Michael McDonald period.

  • Personaly I like skylark on bass ...but the Doobies Rock no matter what they are doing seen them several times and they just seem to get better and better.!!!

  • Just saw the Boobie Brothers in concert at Shreveport, Louisiana. They still rock!!!

If they are coming to your town,,,don;t miss them!!!

  • <3 Love this song.

  • John Cowan on bass? When did that happen?

  • Man are YOU GUYS GREAT !
