Macy Gray is walking contradiction. The first time I heard her voice she had my attention. I knew she was a unique talent, but I wasn't sold on her voice as a lead solo. I love Macy's style and her music style. She is a brilliant artist. Macy is a workaholic. She has very eclectic taste. Oh, by the way Macy is a fine actress.

i think that if you write music, you have a right to sing it, no matter what your voice sounds like and if people groove on it, then - fine. i happen to enjoy her raspy voice. think joplin, faithful. more broadly, everyone has the right to sing, and if a person can touch others with a unique voice, ain't that America.

i love her new album so much. I think the sound of her voice has changed some from the weight she's gained. She didnt use to scratch throught the high notes like that. I still love the sound of her voice. hope this album goes platinum too!

She has a raspy voice with melody. Saying Macy has no talent is like saying Rod Stewart has no talent. You may not like her voice but it's very special. She's also a classically trained pianist and quiet a songwriter. She has many good songs but "I Try" is an undisputable masterpiece.
