  • This is from the Down home here in Johnson City TN. Kicks ass!!!

  • @JabbaDaWHAT It's a 1935(?) Epiphone Olympic. My guess is you'd pay a pretty penny to find an archtop like that today.

  • Love this. Inspired beyond words...

  • I love that guitar he's alway playin, sounds so good.

What is it, old beat up gibson or epi?

I wish I coulda been at this show. This is the most intimate and personal performance I've seen of them. S'great.

Wish this person got the whole show..

  • Love it!!

  • This is the way I used to hear it when I was a kid and we were back in the mountains of Pike County.

  • Whooo Hoo they will be here next week! Can not wait to see them.

  • I wish they would bring out a new record...

  • it's easy to forget he's more than backup. Though Dave always seems so passionate; and she so pleased with his joy. Odd couple, beautiful music.

  • Hell, this is the first time I've seen an epiphone guitar that is made before the company was bought by gibson in '57. Actually it's even pre-WW II. I think I'm gonna cry.

  • not a ralph stanley original... dock boggs recorded the song in the 1930's, and even then it was already known to be an american folk song which dock only covered.

  • Thanks I didnt know Dock Boggs did it as well. They are so young here. This when the 2 of them lived in my now hometown in Santa Cruz I am curious were this was recorded? anyone know? I love the song were she mentions the "Santa Cruz Garden Mall" in the song she actually wrote "I am not afraid to die"

  • well, if only to clarify (and being nitpicky about it :)) , dock boggs recorded "pretty polly" on the brunswick label in their new york studios around 1927-28.

  • this venue is in johnson city, tenn.

  • Oh wow thank you so much for having this video.. I love this song its one of my all time favorite songs of "Doc Ralph Stanley" I didnt know that David and Gillian sung this song.
