I drove a HEMTT wrecker for about 4 yrs. out of the Port of Beaumont TX. and I had a blast' however the M88 is alot more fun but you can not drive it on the road then maybe you could not to many thingz could stop it.
I drove one when I was stationed in germany in the late eighties. It would amaze you the places you could go. I have seen them get stuck but you have get them berried almost over top of the tires.
I miss mudding in Uncle Sam's toys!! We used to take the HEMTT's through an old lake bed down off the west end of the airfield at Ft. Riley and have it up to the doors in mud!!
That ain't nothin... We've gotten in deeper and gone through worse and gotten out here at Ft. Bliss Texas... Keep your eyes open for a HEMMT burnout to be posted in about a month... Stone
we found one in a drmo lot in iraq, hasnt been touched in more than 2 years after being blown to shit. We slaved it and started right up on the first try! Bad ass trucks!
actually its foreplay, long time is what comes right after the instrumental.
and yeah the hemtts are bad ass truck, not much it can't make it through, we took them through mud pits that came up to the bottom of the windshield, and she made it through fine. and for such a huge truck, i'm impressed with how tight it can turn... the army did good bringing this one into service.
I had a HEMTT high centered up in the Iron Range about 6 years ago or so. They have their limits, that is for sure. I watched a friend float the back end of a fuel HEMTT across a small pond at Camp Ripley, that was sketchy!
Lol hes lucky the fuel tank didn't somehow get a hole in it. Yea anything has it limits you can get anything stuck if you try hard enough, and if you can't try harder.
We used to have them going sideways in 8x8 on sweet Texan mud.
