Anyway, Mass Effect has to be one of the best PC games ever, without a doubt. Ive started with Mass Effect 2, and once I finished that I went to part 1. It was really weird but very rewarding, in a Star Wars kind of way ;)

Although the port improved a lot of things (Loading times! The power hotkeys!) and ME2 was never ported, the different versions were developed simultaniously.

It's not consolized, it was made easier for beginners. I've seen my brother play ME for the first time and understand the imporvements they made. And yes, a lot of those beginners are on PC. After all, why by an xbox made speficly for gaming if you are new at it?

And that was the exact problem when they made ME2 more noob friendly, they even removed crouch ability and lack of different weapons and armors was big minus. Also no DX10/11+AA support was big drawback, it is strange really because Gears of War had DX10+AA and was released over 2 years earlier than ME2.

ME2 is still a great game, I would give it 8/10 but it was released too early and some characters and features were cut like Zaeed and new vehichle(released later though)

The 'Lack' of different weapons was a big bonus. The few weapons that are now in the game now actually act differently! (You can choose between fast snipers or slow and powerfull ones, accurate assault rifles vs high ROF shield damaging ones, shield damaging shotguns vs 'normal' shotguns, etc.) The weapons are now actually different, instead of having 100+ variations of the same breed.

The same goes for 'different armors'. There is much more variaty in the current setup.

And ME2 gets a big bonus for actually running on maxed out settings on my 8600GT. The removing of crouch was indeed weird, you are right. And they could have included AA for those faster computers (but you can turn it on using your graphics drivers)

DX10? Really neccesary? I played Crysis on DX9 and DX10. THere was no visual difference, and DX9 actually was faster (Although crysis was a DX10 pioneer/prototype).

You are right, there is not much difference between DX9 and DX10 visually, but running DX10 code or even better DX11 usually gives better fps over DX9. Games run better on Windows XP with DX9 but Win7 with DX10/11supporting card gives often better fps over DX9. I got about 4-6 more fps in Gears of War DX10 mode with Win7 installed, so DX10/11 support is usefull and I dont get why Bioware dropped that feature. Hopefully Bioware´s next game Mass Effect 3 supports DX10/11+AA.

If you have the money or the inclination to keep a decent gaming rig, there's rarely ever a reason to choose a console version of a game over a PC. Especially any shooter or shooter hybrid, like Mass Effect.

Some games are better played on consoles (or on PC with a controller), though, like racers and platformers.

However you play it, though, Mass Effect is a great game.

they learnt from the minor mistakes they did in ME1 not only is the graphics and animations being way souped up, but they are giving reason to exploring worlds that arent part of the game by putting side quests there etc, amongst tons of others.. for example cover animation for Shepard in ME1 was only 20 versions of covering

in ME2 just over 200 different ways to take cover.

well i finally got the game for $15 :) i didnt have any problems UNTIL i installed the patch 1.01a, even then it was just random hi res textures problems, BUT i was just playing on the main quest and was on the planet therum (with the lava) and there are just massive black spots on the ground, im at a point were i cant go on because i cant tell the lava from the ground :( other than that its a great game, I NEED A PATCH ASAP BIOWARE

Förutom bugget ungefär 6h in i spelet så är det underbart. Andra har väl tur och slipper komma dit när kartan buggar redan så tidigt som innan 1:a galaxyhoppet.
