First of all, that uniform is NOT supposed to be worn outside of work. Second, there are rules that military in uniform are not allowed to speak at political functions like this. Learn the rules (as this young man no doubt knew them) and speak intelligently. For the record, I am a veteran and an AVID Ron Paul supporter, but this guy screwed up.

You're not allowed to support any political stance, belief, idea or candidate while in uniform or representing the Armed Forces in any way. This soldier was most likely severely disciplined for his actions. Even IF CNN did purposefully cut the feed, they did the right thing because he shouldn't have been on there expressing his political beliefs in uniform in the first place.

Technical difficulties my ass. I work in the tv industry, and during those live shots, there's almost always a 7 to 10 second delay. Looks like someone just shut off the live feed in Avid. Before a true equipment malfunction, you'll usually get highly distorted image followed by a black screen. Network higher ups must have given them one of the infamous "blue sheets" which has a list of inflammatory topics that can't be aired because of the network's commercials and political relationships.

I'm not a Ron Paul supporter, but the "glitch" appears very deliberate. However, I don't think it was a collaborated conspiracy against Paul's campaign. This is what I think: They went live not knowing the correspondent was about to interview not a veteran but an active duty soldier in uniform. During the course of the interview, they probably realized giving a platform for a active duty marine to express his political opinions may land them in some controversy-- so they decided to cut him out.
You guys are crazy. It's obviously a glitch. The Paul supporters have complained for years about not getting any media attention and then when they do they complain about how the media is finding things that are negative to the campaign. I've also noticed that a lot of people who support Paul don't really follow his policies. They just nit pick different things of his without looking at the big picture.
No one is complaining about "negative things" in the campaign. The young veteran was making a good point and demonstrating the strength of Paul's position, and making the viewers aware that veterans - even those who care deeply about 9/11 and terrorism - support Ron Paul's policy.

Technical difficulties my ass. I work in the tv industry, and during those live shots, there's almost always a 7 to 10 second delay. Looks like someone just shut off the live feed in Avid. Before a true equipment malfunction, you'll usually get highly distorted image followed by a black screen. Network higher ups must have given them one of the infamous "blue sheets" which has a list of inflammatory topics that can't be aired because of the network's commercials and political relationships.

Doesn't really matter who owns what, this CPL violated UCMJ plain and simple. As active duty military we are briefed over and over (especially around election time) about what is acceptable and what is not. When you sign up in the military you agree to abide by the rules set out in the UCMJ. He broke the rules. All he had to do is wear civilian clothes and not mention his grade, rank or military association and he would have been fine.

I'm not a Ron Paul supporter, but the "glitch" appears very deliberate. However, I don't think it was a collaborated conspiracy against Paul's campaign. This is what I think: They went live not knowing the correspondent was about to interview not a veteran but an active duty soldier in uniform. During the course of the interview, they probably realized giving a platform for a active duty marine to express his political opinions may land them in some controversy-- so they decided to cut him out.

No one is complaining about "negative things" in the campaign. The young veteran was making a good point and demonstrating the strength of Paul's position, and making the viewers aware that veterans - even those who care deeply about 9/11 and terrorism - support Ron Paul's policy.
