  • Sorrry, gregg's vocal blows jackson away.......

  • Come on Gregg, if you're going to cover Jackson, at least get the words right.

  • This was on a tv show that Graham Nash hosted and interviewed guests .

I'd like to see some other tv host sing harmony with a guest then pull out a harmonica and play a lead just off the cuff like that!

  • ~ Yes How Well I Know Those Looks Too..I Remember Meeting Him As A Little Girl When The Band, Known Then As The Allman Joys, Practiced Several Times In My Mama's Living Room..My Older Sister Went Out With DuWayne Allman A Bit..Mostly Just Friends She Said..Nothing Serious Like That..BeforeThey Became Known..I Went Thru College Listening To "Laid Back"..Nearly Fell Off the 5th Floor To My Death One Night Listening To MultiCouleured Lady..I Had Been Drinking & Smokin' & Was Soo Depressed

  • @StevieKhane ~ The Music World Will Never Be the Same Without Greg..I Close My Eyes & I Can See Him & Duane in my Mama's Living Room..Sooo Many ManyManyYears Ago....He Doesn't Know I Have Always Loved Him But I Have...I'm Gonna Miss Him Soo Much...sk

  • The Disco lighting does a HUGE injustice to this song, Am I Right??!!??

  • Jackson Browne wrote this song when he was sixteen years old, a genius.

  • I'm pretty sure that I read that Allman was living with Jackson in Calif. and it was actually co-written by the two.....altho, I know GA apparentlly has never gotten credited.

  • Jesus Christ this version is simply devastating. We need more music like this these days

  • @Bigtime1998 you are so right!!!

  • please be with me, GreggAllman

  • With all due props to Jackson Browne, no one makes this song come alive with the beauty, soul and world weariness that Gregg Allman infuses.

  • the well loved Jackson Browne gets all due credit..pity is that too many people have not heard (of) this beautiful version

  • Perfect song for Gregg's voice.

  • beautiful oer a an amzing jackson Browne song. That's why there are covers- so everyone can find a version of te song that they love. You do have to give Jackson credit, though, becuase if not for him this song wouldn't exist.

  • I'm a big fan of Jackson Browne and he's one of my favorite songwriters, BUT...

...I've listened to his version of this song, yeah I know he wrote it, and it sounds like open ass! This song came alive when Gregg recorded it on Laid Back, just outstanding! It's not often that a cover is better than the original but this is one.

If you would like to hear a cover of a Beatles tune that imho surpassed the Beatles version, then give a listen to I am the Walrus by Spooky Tooth. Outstanding!

  • @magikoflove Agreed! Also give a listen to the Beatle's 'Rain' by Gregg Allman, IMHO it's another that far surpasses the original.

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • didn;t know you had it in your ass

  • Awesome~

  • Gregg and Jackson Browne were actually roommates for a brief period in Hollywood in the late 60s...

Gregg has covered some other Jackson material as well...Song for Adam- Shadow Dream Song...

  • Jackson Browne wrote this song at age 16. Of course nobody ever credits Browne and he's too nice to brag or demand people say so

  • If that's the way you look after being married to Cher I think I got off lightly...alive-ish anyway...and yes I DO lnow...he actually looked pissed off with the Nash botherment...I know I would've been

  • Got chills watching and hearing these two together. Never knew they did this. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Song sung verbatim until the last line - such a tribute to Jackson Browne that these two amazing artists wanted to cover his song (which he wrote at age 16

    !)

  • @juliekstroup Yes, It's a song written by Jackson Brown, a great artist in his own right, but his version never has been or ever will be as soulful.

  • Nice mullett , Graham..........

  • great Jackson Browne cover.

  • Allman Brothers & CSN were both great, but otherwise nothing alike. I wouldn't have thought to put Gregg and Graham together vocally- but I like the mix a lot, I think they are a great compliment to one another. Sorry it isn't better quality, but I wouldn't have seen it at all otherwise, so thumbs up.

  • Great song, I don`t know how many times me and my friends picked Gregg up off the side walk in Daytona outside PJ`s drunk off his ass, Good times :)

  • ccr

  • This sucks...gee wiz. I'm looking for the original posting of this which I have saved..so I don't have to send a big file to share. This one is suckin.

  • Is Nash actually in the same room as Gregg on this? It looks like he's singing and playing on a live video feed (Gregg never actually looks at him). Very odd.

Sounds like Neil taught Nash how to blow the harmonica!

  • @81Bear NOT SURE...BUT, THAN AGAIN AH WHO CARES?....SOUNDS GOOD...CSN AND THE ALLMAN BROS WERE VERY SIMILER

  • This reminds me of my Brother Mark.................miss ya brother!

  • Wonderful tune!! This is the one guy I always wanted to see in concert. I missed the Allman Brothers at Bonaroo several years ago. Truly my loss......

  • amazing

  • Greg Allman...one of the world class survivors. Such a hearl felt singer. Thank u Mr. Allman...from the heart.

  • shoot ...if anyone can sing this sonmg with conviction -its Gregg=and Graham is one oif the best harmony singers-rreal touching vbersion

  • gregg's face is so swollen from using heroin, and still nails it

  • I love Gregg - but do you al realize that Jackson Browne wrote this song when he ws 16 yrs old - they both do it so well - Gregg with all the soul in his voice - saw him do a couple of years ago at a great small place

  • lovely rendition, didnt know nashy could suck n blow like that,a pleasant surprise, nash has come a long way from salford

  • As time passes Greg Allmans talent seems ever more profound. Not only a great writer, he's also a fantastic interpreter.

  • LOVE this song. Stephen's daughter Jen Stills has a new cover of this track at iTunes

  • Gregg has taken Jackson Browne's song and truly made it his own. Thanks for a wonderful post!

  • Damn...he take me to-millesgården-for while.

  • I had not heard this song in years. I listened to Jackson Browne's again -- there's a great acoustic version on Y.T.-- but Gregg puts something so soulful and mournful into the song that it brought tears to my eyes. Whew!

  • nash and greg here...ok

so this is the right time for that!

123 im inside my pc now!!!

  • excellent!

  • I heard this great song on an oldies

station in Boston, and it brought back

so many memories, both good, and not

    so good.

Gregg Allman has helped me make it

thru ruff times for more than 30 years of

being confronted by my failures, that I

was aware of, and trying to improve on.

    Thank you Brother Gregg!

  • The Man Jackson Browne wrote this Great Song about Life

  • i grew up in Daytona bch fla and went to the same high school as gregg and duane, this song, that line, please don't confront me with my failures i'm aware of them, the best.. we all feel this way ,right, everybody? i love u christina lazzaro dh

  • i honestly don't think there is a better song to fit my life right now....

  • just so u know, this song fits everyone's life at anytime, we are all aware of our failures and don't need to be cofronted with them. right?

  • It's ok...Greg's singing of Jackson's song tells you, you are not alone...other people have been there...other people will follow there as well. Let's all be an example to those suffering currently. One CAN survive some really bad shit.

  • Thanks for this . . we were at a Gregg Allman concert at Miami Marine Stadium in the 70s . . . paddled out there in a canoe from the Grove . . . and i alone am left to tell the tale . . . heh. And yeah. . . don't confront me with my failures, i have not forgotten them, for the record.

  • no, yer not. i was on spot. is the tommy coyne house(on mary st) still standing? whatever happened to billy bucoulo?

  • @mryfntn the best concert ever..at the height of ludes, and soon thousands were naked, jumping in the water. I'll never forget one boat arrived and the police tried to wave him away--suddenly hundreds of boats drifted in. and they gave up-

  • @fredhouse3 "height of ludes" . . . wow, those are memories. I have not thought about ludes in a long time.

  • @jscbloom ~ WooW I Used The Be The "Lude Queen" Oh And "Reds"& "Twoies" Tuanalls...Those WereThe Days!..."I Have Not Forgotten Them"..!

  • @mryfntn I was at that 1974 Gregg Allman show at Miami Marine Stadium. I was born at Mercy Hospital in '59 and lived in the North & South Grove for many years. I think "Cowboy" opened for him. He had a string orchestra behind him. I've been to some great shows there over the years(Lynryd Skynyrd, Jimmy Buffet, Herb Alpert, etc), it will never be the same(ie;pulling up to the stage in your boat or on your paddleboard, because of liability)

Those were some great times, keep on truckin'...

  • @mryfntn I saw this TV show and luckily taped it on my VCR. Still have it. Great tune, great version here. Nash and Gregg, yeah, they've seen it all !!

  • @mryfntn I was at that Gregg Allman show at Marine Stadium too, it was 1974 and he had a full orchestra behind him. It was the tour for the "Laid Back' album. I was 15 yrs old at the time and I am a Coconut Grove native(born at Mercy in '59). The show was great, if I remember correctly, the group, "Cowboy" opened for him. Marine Stadium was the best for concerts, saw Lynyrd Skynyrd(orig. lineup), The Who, Jimmy Buffet, Herb Albert, etc. Saw a lot of the shows by boat, no worries drivin' home...!

  • @robertdeltajohnson Yes cowboy opened that tour in '74. I saw it in Indy and it was awesome. Remember the cowboy tune “Please be with me”? Amazing. What I remember most is that Greg did 3 encores. Drunk as a monkey and falling off his piano bench. But it was memorable

  • @mryfntn ~ THE ROAD GOES ON FOREVER ~ I Saw Greg Allman at the Georgia Jam in the Early 70's Along With The Marshall Tucker Band...Those Were The Days..! You Are Right..."I Have Not Forgotten Them" I've Been Out Walkin'..

I Don't Do That Much Talkin' These Days..

These Days I Seem To Think A Lot..

About the Things That I Forgot To Do...for You..

And All the Times I Had the Chance To...

Plz Don't Confront Me with my Failures..

    I Have Not Forgotten Them....

    ^..^ sk

  • @mryfntn that would be the show where the Miami philharmonic came down thru the stands and did an overture of the Laid Back album ?

yep, I was there too ! I always loved the Marine Stadium as a venue.

Monday, March 25, 1974 with his special guests Cowboy/Boyer & Talton.

By the way for those that don't know, this is a Jackson Browne song.

  • @mryfntn I can empathize. I have a husband who I do not love. I love my first husband and he died. I will never have another lover like him and I should not have risked another these days.! Please don't confort me with my failures for I am aware of them.

  • @lmdunbar99 I hear ya..

  • Beautiful

  • that was fantastic

  • too much perfect sorrow mr gregg....

  • @emadmadi you said it best

  • @emadmadi

I could not have said your comment any better. Perfect sorrow.

  • gregg, graham they take me down for while...

  • wow awesome video thx for posting

  • One of my favorite songs...and loved "Laid Back" some of his best music...

  • I absolutley agree my freind

  • Graham's harmonica adds to a great rendition. They get so much into the music....

  • not to get technical but the original lines are

Don't confront me with my failures,

    I have not forgotten them.

This version is excellent but the Browne and Lindley show from the Philly folk fest rocks

  • THIS IS INCREDIBLE

  • nobody but nobody conveys such depth, sorrow, passion, blues and soul as mr. gregg Allman.

  • DAMN ....I say Damn".....my friend........please don't confront me with my failure..... I'm aware of them

  • this is tom rush!

  • amazing! thabk you

  • Jackson and Gregg were very good friends,

  • Classic !!! doesnt get any better than this if it does sombody tell me!!! Im also looking for anything on Scott Boyer and cowboy He was on anthology

  • Scott Boyer is living in Muscle Shoals Alabama, saw him with the Decoys at the Garage Cafe in B'ham a couple of weeks ago. (David Hood on bass!) He looks and sounds great, seems to be fully recovered from his leg thing. Have you seen the Gregg vids from the Scott Boyer benefit? I was front row that night!

  • Sorry ShammShamm, but JB wrote this when he was 16. That would have been 1964 or 65. Duane died 10/29/71.

  • Wow I wasn't aware that Jackson wrote this song so early in his career, quite an accomplishment...great song.

  • for a different take on this song listen to Nico (she's been around the block also)

  • This is one of my all time favorite songs. Can ya feel it? You can see it, in his face, can't you.

  • right on

  • fuck u if u wanna bad talk gregg try not 2 do it on one of the most beautiful songs he's ever sang. And also this video is 4 Allman fans 2 enjoy not for pricks like u 2 bad mouth a legend

  • Gregg did not write it, Jackson Brown did.

  • i no i said sing not write

  • @dougrhon ya u did

  • Jackson Browne wrote this for Gregg after his brother ,Duane, was killed in a motor-cycle accident.

  • You just mad that shit up!

  • great

  • This song's beauty & wonderful vocals help remind me when I am going thru sadness, that others have overcome years and years of it. So I don't feel as alone. Thanks for this.

  • Ecstat,......dont never feel alone. Because You are. We all are, but we get through. Between Birth and Death,....the thing is to hang on longer than expected,....and defy gravity, and the Doctors! Damn the bills and idiots and tears, and $5 a gallon gas. Your gonna die, I am sure of that, just like me. Rock this LIFE, you have all of eternity to apologize, and make amends.

  • THANK You~ People like YOU make Life worth Living :)

  • Laid Back...the LP...one of the great heroin albums!

  • beautiful take on a beautiful song.

  • Love this song and Greggs voice!
