He got Randy to leave Quiet Riot to come and audition for Ozzy cause Dana was helping Ozzy out at that time trying to find band members for Ozzy's new band. Dana even set up a lot of the auditions at that time for people wanting to play for his band. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath: The Battle for Black Sabbath by Garry Sharpe-Young details all about Randy joining Ozzy's band.
