  • Nice phasis from piano part to the orchestra seul !

  • Thanks.

  • magnifique

  • Beautiful timeless great playing. He was around 90 when recording this.

His earlier recordings are more powerful but this has a wonderful maturity and simplicity in it,as always he is quite in a different class from most.

  • @arthurtwoshed I totally agree with your comment. Although I haven't heard much of Rubinstein's recordings, but yes you are right, what we hear in this 2nd movement Adagio is the simplicity which a Master pianist such as Rubinstein had arrived in his very late years. His attitude at the keyboard is absolutely unpretencious, and serene... well he's certainly one of a kind isn't he ? Bravo Old Man ! p.s. He was almost 90 when he gave this performance ? WOW !

  • Sublime music, sublime performance! I have long treasured my LP of Rubinstein's 1950's version of this piece. The climax of this movement is the incredible multiple-trill passage that starts around 2:45 in this video. It's hard for me to imagine more beautiful music!

  • It always depresses me when a masterpiece like this starts with 18,500 views...and then...2880...

  • Can't dance to the adagio...

  • It's because it's long and internet people have a short attention span.

  • lol pretty much :D

  • superb!
