I have a question. I have a 2 year old shiro utsuri male that became stressed after a relocation and developed mouth rot. He became healthy again quickly, but his mouth is now disfigured so I can no longer put him in shows.
I want to start turn him into my first breeding male.
How old do the male and female koi need to be to start breeding, at what temperature will they start? Also how long will it be for the female to build up eggs inside her and then lay them?
Last summer my females caught me by surprise and laid eggs in my main pond, I was unable to rescue the eggs since they were all eaten or unfertilized, this next summer I hope to plan ahead and do it correctly.
