Being from South Florida this brings fond memories.
Ralph Renick retired from TV the year of this video and briefly returned to make Editorials for WCIX channel 6 after it became a CBS O&O. He died in the spring of 1991 and his funeral was televised live on WTVJ. I have that on tape and may post some of it someday.
Ralph Renick's last regular broadcast aired on Thursday, March 7, 1985. He got injured during a vacation in Switzerland a few days later and was off the air for about a month. He announced his retirement on Wednesday, April 10, 1985. He ran unsuccessfully for governor in 1986.
He worked at WCIX from 1988 to 1990. He died of liver failure on Thursday, July 11, 1991.
If I remember correctly, he actually announced his resignation from the station on the air at the end of his last newscast around April 1985... I was only 6 at the time, but my parents were stunned... of course, since I was only 6, maybe I'm not remembering it right... :)
Music bed originally written for WCCO Radio.

1. does anyone knows where to find the theme music?
2. Who does the voiceover on the intro? He does the voiceovers for the Jags games here in town.

The theme music is by Tuesday Productions. WTVJ is the only station that used it. The V/O is Charlie Van Dyke with his famous voice.

That is one of the best news themes I have ever heard.

He made the announcement on April 10, 1985. His signoff was "Good night, and may the good news be yours - and, hopefully, mine."

The theme music was used for sports programs on WBEN Radio in Buffalo.

Ralph Renick was replaced in 1985 by John Hambrick from WNBC-TV in New York, & later the following year, added a co-anchor in Susan Lichtman.
