A lot of the city Thai's are very racist against tribals or Burmese and won't pay they equal wages, and they get away with it because these people where too poor to pay their hospital bill and thus were never given a Thai birth certificate (thus they are not Thai, so who cares about them).
Now a king sized combo runs about 300 Thai baht, for some that's 2 10+ hour days working construction or picking rice.
Would you pay $100 USD for a burger? Because that's the equivalency for them.

If they haven't ever seen a burger, doesn't that mean there are no Burger Kings or McDonalds around them? So wouldn't they need to buy a Big Mac and have it shipped all the way out to wherever they are to feed one to the "Whopper Virgins"? Because I doubt McDonalds would send people out to do an add saying that their competition is superior.

Remote eh, probably 1-2hrs outside of Chiang Mai, the only reason they never had one is due to the cost. Hell Thai doesn't have the word, the borrow it like the Japanese.
Just moved back from 3 years in Chiang Mai, but I went to mikes for my monthly burger craving, rarely the night bazaar BK.

The Hmong Thais in this commercial are NOT as "pure" as BK wants all of us to believe. BK is exploiting the stereotype that the Hmong are no more than primitive "tribesmen", and therefore they have no concept of a burger. Far from it. The Hmong in Thailand drives Toyota Tundras, and can very tell the difference McDonalds and Burger King! Both chains can be found in downtown Chiangmai! Yes, the Hmong DO have a word for "burger," it's called "Ber-Gerh," in Thai. Hmong Thai have TVs too.
