and the ref does not just sit there and wait for it to be enough. the ref tries to protect the fighters. you will seem many early stoppages by the ref and the fans boo and fighters are upset its not a brutal sport take your head out your ass.

There are alot of reasons why people like the UFC over boxing but to me being a fan of both, the biggest difference is you cant run from top competition in the UFC...its always pretty even match ups and the champ has to fight the next best guy every fight...In Boxing they fight alot of cans to build up the record and then thier promotor will do everything to keep them from losing. Both great sports but boxing doesnt have much structure like the UFC.

@TheCrazygroover Boxing gloves cause more trauma to the head than MMA gloves. When a person gets knocked out, it's from a shot to the chin, not a shot straight to the head. So there isn't alot of trauma occuring to the brain. That's the reason why boxing is more dangerous than MMA.

Actually it is not so clear cut as what you have presented. UDT in that era was on a par with Navy SEAL's.
People changed moved between UTD and Navy SEAL regularity. There is many ex SEAL's who would consider Ventura as a SEAL and many who do not.
But that is the problem pre 1983 before they were combined as singular unit commands. Ventura graduated BUD/S class 58.

and the ref does not just sit there and wait for it to be enough. the ref tries to protect the fighters. you will seem many early stoppages by the ref and the fans boo and fighters are upset its not a brutal sport take your head out your ass.

I wonder about Gorilla Monsoon or Ventura if Gorilla was still alive and he and Jesse ever called an MMA fight...they always had a good time whenever a guy like Mr. Fuji or Haku or someone with a martial-arts style for pro wrestling was competing, and both guys were knowledgeable in their craft, so maybe they'd be as good as any if they had ever commentated in MMA.
It also doesn't hurt that Ventura is familiar the styles utilized in the sport also :-) who knows?

There are alot of reasons why people like the UFC over boxing but to me being a fan of both, the biggest difference is you cant run from top competition in the UFC...its always pretty even match ups and the champ has to fight the next best guy every fight...In Boxing they fight alot of cans to build up the record and then thier promotor will do everything to keep them from losing. Both great sports but boxing doesnt have much structure like the UFC.

@cujo905 That is UFC though. You have to compare Boxing to MMA as a whole where you still have fighters ducking competition because they r not in UFC or fighters building up records by fighting cans. To get to UFC you have to have wins over cans anyways, difference is it does not take no where as long as Boxing unless you are that good like prime Mike Tyson.

@taekwon3000 Yeah thats kind of true, but fighters in other orgs dont even have the choice but fight lesser comp..We both know there are certain boxers who are champs and still dont fight the best competition...Its been going on for yrs. Too many promotions...As for Tyson, he was in the right hands to move up quick, if he didnt have Cus back then it wouldve taken him longer, youre right it usually takes longer in boxing because there are alot more boxers and MMA is still pretty new

@SINSSTER Fedor was ducking competition in UFC before he got beat. UFC is an exclusive promotion. What is changing in te face of MMA is UFC buying out comp so that may change many things. Not all Boxers like to pad their careers n Mayweather did not just beat bums, he is a buisness man but he will fight Pacquiao next year given that they win their coming fights.

you honestly the people that sit down and think it through boxing is alot more dangerous in that it can cause more head trauma and long term brain ilnesses im not saying theres not the same risk in mma but im saying that since when a mma fighter is wounded and the ref feels he can't keep going its over but in boxing if u get up and keep getting beating on the fight keeps going for 12-15 rounds

@TheCrazygroover Boxing gloves cause more trauma to the head than MMA gloves. When a person gets knocked out, it's from a shot to the chin, not a shot straight to the head. So there isn't alot of trauma occuring to the brain. That's the reason why boxing is more dangerous than MMA.
