  • 7:29 Joe Swanson just shitted a brick lmao and that chair looks like the hover chairs from Wall-e, they all get fat as hell

  • Oh no! Were going to become fat and lazy because we won't have to walk.

  • Love to see that Honda robot help me carry logs or a 300 lb engine on a skid?

  • Segway?? just add another wheel and save several thousands of dollars LOL

  • I need this now Honda,I'm disabled and can only walk about 100 feet, before the pain is so bad I have to lie down, this would give me a life,I could go places, shop in the malls,go to a car or electronics show, please Honda, please,I need this now.

  • ill stay with my loud ass gas fueled yamaha r1 thank you

  • i like it if you didnt grab your ass when you were riding it lolz

  • thats very good and all.. but i would not asume as u that a 100 years from now this will not be a museum item, like the cars we see now from the early 20th century.

transportation will change so much in the future, where these devices u see now as futuristic, will be obsolete in 100 years from now.

just like the people who made the 1st phonographs, maybe they could extrapolate in the future to envision a modern record player, but i dont think they could have ever imagined an i-pod for instance.

  • seriously, stop being lazy and just walk

  • Comment removed

  • What's the point?

  • What is the vehicle at 57 seconds?

  • Better people using this rather than driving their cars.

  • that is gay hahhaha

  • why not just walk??

  • Very cool. I would love to see honda take the next step... SideDriver. Drive allways.

  • Honda, FUCK yourself for doing this!

  • spinning computer chair, you were fun while you lasted

  • @MisterHugoStiglitz : couldn't agree more of the Wall-E reference LOL

  • very cool. better way to do the wheel though, new invention makes driving easier at wwwDOTsidedriverDOTcom

  • I think standing (or sitting) in the same position over a longer period of time can be much more draining than actually walking. And I doubt our bodies will accept convenience without producing more lifestyle diseases. I would prefer the freedom to walk over any wheelchair. As comfy as it might seem at the first impression.

  • @fatcuntist lol that would be kinda funny but sad....over millions of fatalities

  • i love these ignotrant comment of people assuming that this is only for lazy people, I myself have been living with chronic pain in my legs and walking is extremely painful, if i had something to help me be mobile i would be all for it, no i am not an obese person, was just dealt a bad hand when i was younger and have to live with it during my adult life. so instead of assuming that only lazy people would use these item dont forget to think of those of us who are mobility challenged.

  • @sicknessuntamed

    totally agree with you

ppl are just ignorant & most of all they dont see it as a progress in technology to assist the less "able body"

in my old age, walking is not as easy as when young.

Young ppl are just so ignorant like as though that they could not get old.

  • @sicknessuntamed well said...all too often ignorant people need to be corrected...best wishes on your search for a solution.

  • sucks to be a midget :/

  • Imagine having to change THOSE tires! Love it; I'd buy one.

  • wonder how efficient that wheel is really...

  • @ MisterHugostiglitz: If walking around is what you view to be homo sapiens chief characteristic I think that puts your sentience in question. By your logic Ray Kurzweil invented the automated reading machine because he was too lazy to open his eyes. You're an asshat.

  • @MudTheFisherman

Interestingly, some theories about the human race's rise to dominancy on the ancient african steppes is that humans are good long distance runners because we could shed heat by sweating (hence no fur and long legs), so we could simply run our prey into the ground. Being good runners was our big advantage, so to speak.

So it is a bit ironic, that we are now looking at devices that stops us from using our original advantage.

  • gosh so boring...

  • I wonder how come they got such concept?? Human are not able to walk soon??

  • I love how people are complaining that this would lead to more fat people.. have you ever seen a fat person on a segway? These things will be marketed to normal, healthy, average weight people.. quit you're bitching, internet~

  • Interesting video. I have a standard bicycle and a small folding one which I regular carry in cars and trains, and these address my personal mobility problems very well. However for older or disabled people things like this are a great idea; the Segway and Hands Free have the problem that you can only stand on them, so not a good option for any old / disabled person, and their width makes them illegal on footpaths in many cities and countries. A stable powered unicycle is much better

  • This guy has such a boring tone of voice.

  • What they need to do is put that dual-plane wheel on a car so that people don't have to parallel park. THAT would actually be a useful thing as it would eliminate the danger of bumping into other cars or having to look over your shoulder a lot (although rear-view cameras have lessened that hazard). But I would beware such 'advancements' in transportation. walking, running, and biking should still be considered valid options for cities and for exercise, which is GOOD for humans.

  • fuck that i am not getting fat but i do not get fat anyway.

  • Japanese people are obsessed with idiotic and gay looking gadgets...

  • those honda things look like they can't even go walking speed.. so what's it good for? the segway can atleast go over 20 k

  • Reading the comments their sure are a lot of short sighted people in the world, I myself would like to say awesome clip well presented with some great information, well done poster, as for the products I 100% believe we will see them all in one form or another in the coming years one only has to look at the world demographics to see that, as an amputee I am also looking froward tot he progress as it will mean more mobility for me when i get older (I walk just fine now)

  • 6:38 - "the U3X is so small it will never disrupt crowd flow or cause an obstruction like bikes do..." I'm sorry but a bike runs out of power when it's user dies not when it's batteries go flat. I don't need to plug my bike into the wall before I go to bed in order to get to school/ work the next day. I don't need to shell out for electricity to run my bike, I can ride it when its raining or snowing and It doesn't cost me the world.

Have you seen a Strida? this 8-shaped POS is redundant.

  • It looks so gay looking

  • LMAO when i saw the cop on a electric thing

  • How is this revolutionary or practical? How the hell are you supposed to go to the grocery store and come home with a big sack of groceries riding that?

  • Will never be road legal & it would be impractical for pavement use because it would trip up on kerbs right?

  • its clearly for people with mobility problems you dingbats!!!

  • @leicestergux show me one person with paralysis, cerebral palsy or broken/ missing limb(s) that can balance on this POS and steer with their ass cheeks

This isn't for disabled people, its for rich kids, company executives and stupid people. It solves no significant problems what so ever and is designed to be impressive but ultimately useless.

  • @MisterHugoStiglitz really? i dont see how that has anything to do with the validity of my opinion. The good news is, youre still wrong about your comment.

  • they are all horrible i would rather ride a bike..

  • @MisterHugoStiglitz pretty sure they didnt make this because walking is too hard, i think its just because its cool. And people like cool technology. Youre a pretentious asshole.

  • Im disabled from severe scolisos and can only walk short distances.I'm limited to a bulky electric or manual wheel chair, which I can't afford and don't want.Dispite the fact its 2011,all we see is concepts, prototypes, where are the products ?.Millions of disabled people would like to have a life, get out and do things, but are stuck at home.

  • ...such a boring voic...... :o zzZzZZ

  • It looks to me like people are going to wear the toes out of their shoes as quickly as I did when I was a kid and couldn't afford brakes for my push bike. C'mon - steering with a toe scrape (4:50) is the future?

  • @therealsean4u You fucking idiot. She isn't steering with a "toe scrape." She just isn't used to the device and had her toe lightly touch the ground for balance sake. You steer with a body weight shift. Are you really that stupid?

  • would be great for people that find it hard to walk but still able bodied, and wouldnt make them FAT!!!!! I see a market for handicapped people.

  • Why doesn't honda incorporate these hod wheels into their cars for easier parallel parking?

  • nice try dude but you stuttad like 5 times

  • Wall-e that's all I'm saying

  • What do you do with your hands?...

Everybody will look like zombies lol

  • these damn asians can u think of one COOL thing americans made

  • @BobSaget9165

The internet and the pushrod v8

  • Innovation and invention are great, but these all seem like they're geared towards the lazy. I can understand that some people may physically need them, and not because of health choices, and I am fine with that. But where are the new inventions for those of us that still like to exercise? I suppose it's just not a big enough market for them to bother...

  • Nice vid explanation. Well done.

  • Um, this unit is groundbreaking! these people at Honda sould be praised! that new wheel is revolutionary!

Now i want you to to imagine this... increase it's size by 3x and now take it from a vertical position to a horizontal one, now add a seat in the middle and 2 ergonomic (hidden in the body handles with the controls for speed and your turn signals) add a great battery powered engine.... REVOLUTIONARY!

how would the wheel handle at faster speeds though? might not be feasable?

  • Oh lord. When will Honda develop a robotic Japanese girl that I can punch the butt out of...?

  • I really wanna know what that black bike is called at 1:00

  • @MisterHugoStiglitz think of it as a way to help economys

  • Ok, so think about how practical it would look to try to actually carry anything in your arms while you're trying to steer by holding the seat. How about pulling a rolling suitcase behind you in an airport like the narrator mentioned. This is cool technology, but seriously? I see more use in this for military/police applications (think "Terminator," bomb robots, etc.) than in everyday human life.

  • The technology shown at 7:30 is a lot more practical and useful for handicapped applications. Honda, if you're going to invest in any of the ideas shown here, PLEASE go for the robolegs!

  • He knows we already have personal/portable trasprtation devices right?

    Skateboard, rollerblades, folding bikes, ect

This isn't going to revolutionize transportation, these things are too dangerous to achieve car-like speeds. All they really do is replace walking making us fatter and less healthy. Not a landmark device in transportation.

  • im fine with walking thanks -.-

  • @HeeHify stfu its fucking technology people wanna learn just shut the hell up! youtube commentators are soo godamn annoying

  • @robby123ism lol i only said id rather walk thats a comment doesnt mean anything but me rather walking

  • damn i wudnt get this..

  • everything that can rotate it's central axis is the future!!

  • So none of you complainers drive a car? A vehicle like this could handle short trips that you would normally take a car for. Instead of getting in a giant inefficient and anti social metal box, now you could just sit on one of these. If you need real distance, then yes, the car would be needed, but for a short trip to the store, or if you live close to work, you are set. If you are a bike rider or walker, then you can still ride or walk, this is just a short distance car trip replacement.

  • I strongly doubt they will let you take this on a plane when you can't even bring liquids on planes. Come on.

  • zero emissions vehicles should be called emission by proxy vehicles, well the battery/fuel cell powered vehicles anyway... they get their energy from the grid which is mostly coal powered, which still makes emissions. Unless it's a solar panel car or a car powered by a solar/wind watt station, it really isn't zero emissions...

  • I see a tron bike at 0:59

  • Sex robots are next...

  • @216kingDavid1 working on that ;)

  • @MisterHugoStiglitz Im watching this video and thinking the same thing, and then I thought about WALL.E. I live in Cleveland OH. its already looking like that here LoL

  • Hahaha this is just like that episode of South Park with Mr. Garrison's speed bike thing hahaha

  • sure it's a brilliant vehicle... but what's the point? O_O, i'm pretty sure it just takes practice to ride a unicycle...

  • The only interesting thing here is the fact that it moves sideways. On real cars that could be really handy, say super-precise parking. The thing as a whole is bloody useless though. my feet can do more without a battery up my butt...

  • @diakrite wait a few years an u will think diferent.

  • Comment removed

  • it wont replace walking

  • The history research is awesome, really awesome device and review. someone that knows what is going on. Honda does make the difference.

  • this device is only to move inside buildings i dont see it on the street or nature.

besides cant be healty to stay seated inside home or office, people already became too lazy

  • There's going to be more fat people.

  • @xme71

    AMERICA STAND UP! HAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAH

  • @xme71 luckly fat people wont fit

  • @xme71 hell yeah

  • @xme71 Honda Said they dont gunna sell it, only in hotels an Airports.

  • @xme71 except they're apparently built for skinny asian girls. I'm sure the "fat american" version wont be quite so appealing

  • @lapierrem1

Put a hemi or ford "gt" badge on it and it will sell like hotcakes after a famine.

(I am NOT a fan of ford, but plenty of others are i suppose)

  • When walking became so hard ? People need more movement not more sittig and mooving around.

  • woh what happened to it its been year scenes this vid and this is the first time i came upon this any price guest yet? @gizmag

  • what the fuck. just retarded

  • What happens with the fluff?

  • What is that Star Wars voice?

  • Comment removed

  • I have to admit, Honda ia the best and the most advance! where can I get one of this? shipping is possible rite?

  • the reason its good to have these instead of walking is our cities are huge! and tall. cities used to be 3 maybe 4 stories tall not because it was hard to build tall just it was a pain to take the groceries up. i imagine nice wide spiral ramps to get from floor to floor and we can redesign the way we use space

  • @Schmoemunkie - wide spiral rams instead of stairs would reqquire MORE space, not less. you would have a max gradient of 1:5 or 1:7 forthese to work so how does that improve anything?

it's like putting a 4lane highway thru the centre of New Orleans to "save space".

  • everyone saying were fukn lazy, shut the fuck up, were already fukn lazy. look how easy it is to get food nowadays, we hope in our cars go to the grocery store, buy some food, go home, put it in the microwave, and wala! or go thru a drive thru and presto! 200 years ago, we actually had to fukn hunt for food. people back then if they could would look at us, and be like wow u guys r fukn lazy. as venture further into the future, humans will get lazier and lazier, history shows it, so shut up

  • i would think bikes would be more efficient than that

  • i saw some guy rideing this yesterday at the motor show in sydney Australia lol

  • this is one of the reasons why america is fat

  • @dtihkse Just America?

    Honda? Amsterdam? Bombardier?

Does the narrator sound like an American?

I get your point but the whole human race is doomed to evolve into something that resembles Jabba the Hutt.

  • @dtihkse Haha, these technologies aren't even out yet so they can't be the reason why Americans are fat. They just need to put down the damn cake, cookies, chips, and fried food...

  • I would rather walk....

  • that no hands segway would be awesome for drivebys...

  • i need power not gay shit with a battery

  • Comment removed

  • I bet your arse would be sore as hell after sitting on it for more than 3 seconds......

  • Rolling resistance will be increased by the design with 2 planes of rotation. This isn't the best approach, instead it is more important to design a tire with a variable rolling resistance to match braking and cornering forces, and spin it 90 degrees.

  • Your analysis is good but several points, without sounding overcritical. You say that one wheel via self balancing is the most efficient because it carries the smallest weight. This ignores air resistance. These vehicles are too slow to offer viable alternatives and are often not road legal. They are also more expensive. An electric two wheel bike will be better and there is little appreciable difference in efficiency. Regenerative braking will be more difficult in these designs as is braking.

  • at least some big car companies create some innovative concepts

  • I kinda like to pedal a bicycle, walking is fun too.

  • @ohshnit1 I agree. These technologies are awesome and I wouldn't mind having one but I'd much rather walk or peddle a bike.

  • at least a bicycle can be used as excersice. this thing has no benefit other than to the imoble. Plus whats the harm in two wheels? If you wanna make something astonishing then no wheels would suffice. unicycles were never cool, its always been a gimick.

  • lol imagine everyone riding these things around, touching their asses constantly.

    3:23

  • i think this would be good for disabled person and old people but with more modefication , but ,i dont understand why a healthy person would use it , u can just walk :)

  • 2 question how such a small motor can produce this much torque , and how long will it take to drain such a small battery ??

  • I can see how people that are crippled might be able to use this, esp. if smaller.

  • We might not be here in year 2025.

  • @iMakeRand0mVids ok then lets stop dreaming for a better tomorrow !!!

  • The design might be interresting for robots that needs to be able to move around in small spaces. Moveing fully functional humans, no thx.

  • GOOD LORD YOU ARE BORING.

  • seriusly who watched this entire thing???? cause i didn't

  • Only fat fucks use motorized vehicles to get around in stores and stuff, but this probably has like a 150 weight limit. Average sized people actually use their damn feet.

  • @Silenthawk98 Blow me stupid,I'm not fat and I need one,I have a spinal cord injury and can only walk 100feet,this would help a lot of people.Try reading a book, educate yourself, don't be a ass hole your whole life.Broke my back on a motorcycle.

  • The one wheeled motor cycle is very interesting to me, cause it seems far more useful for riding long distances at a fast speed versus minimal travel at slow speed(U3-X); that's what bicycles are for. I'm definately not driving something while grabbing my ass cheeks the entire time. That's looks totally gay and the designers should be fired. Just give the damn thing collapsible handlebars.

  • it will never catch on not in a million years. it has zero utility. why not just put the motor on some roller skates

  • Jizmag.

  • Its cool and all that we can create things like that but seriously, just walk like we were meant to. Now if we could make those go fast offroad, then we'd be getting somewhere.

  • if everybody had one of those all humans would be fat

  • have you guys heard of the motorized wheel chair?

  • a big percentage of everything made is to help make us more lazy. just think about it.

  • Did anyone else notice that in the video, when ever she turned it, she was dragging a toe on the ground? That is one thing that bugged me: lean the direction you want to travel, then how do you turn? Leaning to the side will make you GO that direction, and with one wheel, how do you TURN it anyway?

  • I'd do her

  • would hav been a great vid if the reporter/narrator wakes up

  • tecnoligy once agin ruaning a good walk down the road

  • @d1gangsta have fun walking to work then

  • Wow humans are so lazy

  • the thangs in this video was intresting but the voice is yust... sleepy making it boring

  • yep soon we wont have to move at all then we will all get fat just like in wall-e

  • why not try bicycle? have you head of it?

  • Gizmag... where is it now? Great Idea for the "last mile' as they said.

  • Christ, could this bloke be any less excited?!

  • Now if you put wireless energy induction into all footpaths you can go anywhere, unlimited.

  • 10 kg? wow

  • is there such thing as infinite Electricity in the world

    :O

  • Like the camel toe at 9:37!!!

  • the wall-e movie warns us about this lets be fat in a hovering chair

  • This is a product that can be used by many mobilty restricting handycaped people. Some cannot stand or walk for more tha a few minutes. This product is ideal for that, and many other mobilty restricted people. As long as you can keep your balance. That is!

BRAVO HONDA. You've done it AGAIN!

PS: I love my Accord S.E.!!!

  • for something so exciting, that has got to be the most bored sounding voice over I've ever heard.

i cant wait to see Hondas market version, and how it goes with an average american man. might not be 10kg anymore... haha

  • U3-X racing.....A must

  • So you steer with your asscheeks?

  • @eruption257 with your weight, so as you lean to the side a bit, so it moves in that direction. :)

  • @loveablemoggy So, yes?

  • @eruption257 Sorry, what? You asked if you steer it in a particular way and I just clarified that for you.

  • Reminds me of Bender driving. "Look, fry! I'm steering with my ass!!"

  • Contrary to what everyone is saying, I think it's cool

  • Anyone else remember the video with the "self balancing" robot falling off the stairs?

    XD

  • lmao , yes they must have but im sure you seen the new U3-X in this video <, thats made for skinny people looks like and then they have the one with the fat tires for already fat prople , and of course we have those fire trucks that will take you to hospital because youre no longer able to walk. Thanks to Honda...lol

  • I SEE MORE FAT PEOPLE , GREAT!

  • @ocolisan777 thats what I was thinking....but then I thought...those things have to have a weight limit. You ride it, get fat and then you can't ride it anymore.

  • ...what's wrong with walking?

  • @0IOCreate but walking's not as shiny, or expensive. Walking is for poor people, obviously.

    /sarcasm

  • @loveablemoggy I think I'll buy two segways then: one for each foot.

    Heheh.

  • I spoke to an engineer at Honda and he said that the production version will have stabilizing "knob" that protrudes out the seat and wedges into the anus. That's the gender-neutral version. The female-only version will have two knobs, and the male-only version will have one knob and a "cylinder clamp"

  • To begin with. it looks stupid. and if for some reason the technology fucks up, wich is very normal and expected you will fall over. imagine that two-wheeler at 20kmh decide to have unexpected power faliure... it might be fun for a while to drive around on those things. but in the long run they are just a waste of time. we humans need to walk, we need to run, we need our exersice or however it spells. :P we need to live. not just sitting on our asses having some robot carry us around!!!!

  • how much more efficient is it to just walk
