Hap Ki Do Is more on defense its average but too much defence wont win a fight for me Seni Silat Gayung + Jeet Kune Do + Hap Ki Do is a perfect combination of strength speed and defence!
Finally a good Hapkido demo. If anyone has a link to a dynamic kick defense, please post it. I don't study Hapkido but I did a seminar with some Hapkido guys about 8 years ago. I thought the kick defenses they displayed were really good.
The first 100 or so pages of most hapkido books are ANATOMY. Such a close study of the human body and how it moves (or doesn't move) has created an art that gives the student an ability to control another person with little or no effort at all. struggle all you want.. it will only make your injuries worse.
(This is not my account.. it belongs to a friend. Don't be an ignorant spammer.)
Again someone speaks before they really know what is going on... For demonstration perposes these moves are slowed down. For sake of the person it is being performed on.. again they are SLOWED DOWN. Hapkido is not permitted with in MMA along with any other small joint manipulation art. IF Hapkido was allowed into MMA we would see many more broken joints from the clinch and on the ground. You go with it or break.
I've studied 7 different martial arts and know that MMA peeps that write rude comments think MMA can last anywhere in any situation. (i also did MMA myself.) And there is a huge difference between SELF DEFENSE and sport fight. MMA is great but not on the street. Self Defense is great but not in a cage. Thats how it goes. Its like night and day.
not even someone on heroin will chamber a punch from his ribcage leave it out there after he throws it and not resist with even a single twitch as the defender executes a long series of illogically sequenced improbable moves. most of the time the defender's feet did not move until the attacker's fist was hanging in the air. when you present choreography as effective self defense you give your students a false sense of confidence which endangers their lives. Is all hapkido like this?
@tungusodessa right. once again someone that doesn't know anything about the art feels the need in their infinite wisdom to correct someone on something they know nothing about. These "marginally useful techniques" are taught to the militaries of multiple countries and police forces. And furthermore how can you say something is illogical if you don't know what it's even doing?
some bits and pieces of this are marginally useful against a slow perhaps intoxicated
unskilled opponent. not even someone on heroin will chamber a punch from his ribcage leave it out there after he throws it and not resist with even a single twitch as the defender executes a long series of illogically sequenced improbable moves. when you present choreography as effective self defense you give your students a false sense of confidence which endangers their lives.
@d8v1d true but I am learning this for the knife/gun protection after lots of boxing, so I don't think I would need these moves in a real fight, but with my reflexes I think it could be done :D
anyone here a black belt besides me and vendetta that are utterly amazed at this preformance, i've studied 8 different martial arts and have gotten quite far in all of them usually at least reaching black belt but this...this is amazing i must learn it
HOw do you feel it works mixed with Arnis? It looks so robotic. Give me your insight. I'm an arnis player now in Korea, investigating the various Korean arts.
@vickiormindyb I practice Krav Maga and I've used it one time at a bar with 3 guys who were wasted and were looking for a fight.... Krav Maga is a very devastating martial art. I've done Muay Thai before Krav Maga and all I can say is that Israeli Krav Maga is very effective
The answer is entertainingly simple and appropriate. Krav Maga utilizes Aiki theory and a lot of other good stuff like Sambo . Why hurt yourself by attempting to use hard strikes with hard body parts against hard body parts when you can let the ground do the work for you ?
Hit hard things with soft things and soft things with hard things. Krav Maga is a very effective fighting style.

@Armandotoossi Wrists are not classified as "small joints." Perfectly legal in mma and any submission grappling/bjj comp.

This form of martial arts probably saved my life.
A guy in Philadelphia mugged me for my purse. After I gave it to him, he told me he thinks I need a scar on my face.
I was terrified, and thought of ducking when he swung the blade at me.
Before he could complete his move, some guy came out of nowhere and used hapkido on the mugger to stop him.
I'm really grateful to this guy for knowing hapkido.
