this shit airline dont pay enough to keep pilots awake. they make them fly too much and pay less than a manager at mcdonalds.
If they were paid like professionals, they would fly like professionals. But, the public wants cheap tickets, so this what you get, dont complain about it.
@beergut111 i doubt managing a mcdonald's is easy, and doing it improperly could lead to hundreds poisoned. "the public wants cheap tickets....". You are free to throw in as much extra as you wish. If you take a job for x dollars, you do the job as directed. grow up.
@beergut111 hmmmm...no, I most certainly understand, and I understand it is people like you, who simply blurt out nonsense as if fact, then throw a temper tantrum when confronted, who are the problem. How did obama get elected? bunch of immature, irrational morons who chanted "he's for hope and change", never bothering to ask "wtf is hope and change? who is this guy?". That is you. You drink kool aid, chant, then demand you be seen as a genius instead of what you are...an irrational kook.
@kenfo0 this has nothing to do with obama.....this has to do with a shit airline that pays a shit salary to a shittier pilot that is falling asleep at the yoke. The problem is he'll be fired if he does the right thing.
I think he's dreaming about becoming a baggage handler as it a more interesting job. The third pilot is usuallly called the autopilot. Fatigue is a major issue amongst pilots even though airlines don't like using the word. Nxt time u depart at night and comfortable fall asleep in the cabin then think about the poor pilot in the front. Hes only human too with just as much life problems and will also feel as sleepy as you.
Its almost a bit of a secret that on long flights its not unusual for pilots to take turns taking naps. I know we did when I was flying the line. It really improves safety because both pilots arrive refershed after a really long flight. The ALPA has asked the FAA once to formally allow pilots to take turns napping over the ocean but the FAA has not entertained such an idea as of yet. On longer routes there is a 3rd pilot to assist in napping.
If a guy I was flying with asked to have a nap I'd report him to CASA (here is Australia) immediately. It's a requirement for flights over 8 hours to have a Supernumerary First Officer (Second Officer with some airlines) and the Senior First Officer MUST be Relief Command endorsed. If you can't stay awake for 8 hours and a hot shutdown then don't bloody come to work.
hum, that's sounds crazy, and according the aviation regulations there must be a least one pilot in the cock pit. So that only the cabin crew are in the cockpit is wrong.
sleeping in cruise is no big deal when there is another pilot. they take turns having naps. Wouldn't you rather have a pilot that is alert and well rested during the approach and landing phase?
You have no idea what you're talking about. Even Air Canada has a system of "Controlled Rest Periods" where one of the pilots can take a nap. I would like to see you fly for 15 hours straight and not be tired. It's much safer to nap in cruise and then be well rested for the landing. Don't you agree?
I'm familiar with the CRP at Air Canada through the first officer-incident on the Boeing 767-333 reg. C-FMXC in 2008 and through the NASA study in 1990. But according to my knowledge Air Canada is the only airliner which operate the CRP. Please let me know if other Airliner operates this type of rest periods.
Although it's not aloud (at the most airlines, according to my knowledge). Yes, on the longer flights you do have a double crew. So they do take turns to have a nap;) but they are, at these moments, with more then one crew member flying the plane!
contrary enough the crews names dont resemble local names and are more reminiscent of malaysian/chinese descent...wondering if the FAA has jurisdiction over this circumstance since the philippines is an ICAO state/member...very appalling to see that the comander of your flight in such state, i feel very discouraged to ride with them again since i've come across this video post
facts: acft is a LET410, no autopilot, endurance of aicraft would be 4 hours, maybe 5 at best, flight is SEAir as seen from the sticker which is partially seen on the video, and, as a frequent tourist/flyer to boracay who's ridden with this ariline i've asked around their staff (who the bald pilot is) and been told that this pilot is either a certain capt. luckuneelaw or behasa...
What is happening here MIGHT not be illegal. In the airlines there is a thing called "controlled rest" where one of the pilots is allowed to sleep in his seat while the other pilot monitors everything. This is only allowed to occur during certain very strict conditions and must be very well planned. Im not so sure on a small aircraft like this though that it would be occuring, due to the shortness of the route and the type of aircraft, but regional airlines might allow controlled rest aswell.
Dude looks like he's nodding on heroin or methadone. Seriously though, I had a ground instructor (Navigation I) who actually admitted in class to taking naps on his cargo runs. WTF. You never admit that shit. The FAA will send out a hit man to kill you if you admit that.
Actually, on most airlines the "co-pilot," an incorrect term to start with, flies every other turn (captain flies 2 legs, first officer flies 2 legs). While the first officer is flying, the captain is technically the "co-pilot."
You are 1/2 right FlyWMU. Yes, the flight crew trades off duties every other flight (normally) - where the captain will fly one leg and the first officer will fly the next, etc. - however the captain is ALWAYS the PIC (pilot-in-command) of the aircraft and ALWAYS has the final authority over the operation of that flight. With the only exception being if he/she were incapacitated or something of that sort. The captain is never the "co-pilot." (God I hate that term)
sorry, here's what I meant with my other comment. X6insane6X, you are correct. The captain is PIC and has the final authority over the flight. I was using the terms pilot and co-pilot because people have used them here (I also hate the term co-pilot). I should have said, while the FO is flying, the CA is the PNF (pilot not flying) and is thus performing the duties of a co-pilot. Using these terms, the pilot is flying, the co-pilot is not.
However, the Captain will always have the final say as to the operation of the aircraft. The best Captains I've flown with have always said, "your leg, your fault, your brief..." and have always said that when it's my leg, they'll let me fly it however I want as long as it's SOP. This whole thing could just be cleared up by removing the term co-pilot and using the proper names: Captain, First Officer, Pilot Flying, Pilot Not Flying...seeing as those are the terms used on our checklists...
I am sorry you are miss informed. The Captain is always the Captain. and the First Officer is always the First Officer. The only thing that changes is who is acting as "pilot flying" and who is acting as "Pilot Not Flying"
That's what I was trying to say...I never meant to imply that the role of captain ever changes to the right seat...simply trying to get rid of the improper terms pilot and co-pilot. PF and PNF are the proper terms. I fly for the airlines so trust me, I know how it works...sorry for the confusion.
you sure he was sleep and not lookin at a map or sumink? yeh it does look weird but you cant count it out unless you went to look! that would just be unfair...
What the hell! Falling asleep during one of the most responsible jobs! If you don't feel fit to fly, then stay home! I feel totally embarrased as a pilot!! But it's a good lesson to all of us airline pilots
it's very easy to fall asleep while flying. I used to fly night charters, I'm talking like between midnight and 7am and when it's dark it's like setting an infant on a dryer to get it to sleep. Talking to atc helped but it's very possible. In this case pilot prob had a big lunch and told co-pilot he might wink out a few..no bigee really
As long as pax insist on paying ridculously low fares, pilots will be made to operate ridiculouly long hours. He is flying a regional, so prob working his ass off for 25/30.000$.
hhahhah what the fuk! not suppose do that. Hey Mr hairless capitain, u r too fast and too high, you may re-start ur training by pressing ESC on ur FS lol
Hey buddies, herez another captain explaining it for you. In some occasions during bad weather.. there are several reason you feel dizzy. If you get your rout and set your auto pilot. One Pilot is enough to look after the air craft. I let my fellow to sleep for a while during long flights. Dont worry your aircraft is safe.... One doubt if the other pilot is sleeping i ll leave everything on your good luck... May be you end up reaching USA instead of Heathrow... lol
depends if its a long haul or domestic flight, minimum two pilots; captain and co-pilot, on long haul flights, usually theres about three to five pilots. The captain only takes care of the major things such as take off; landings and a little of other things, but after that is done on a long haul flight, the pilot will go int oa room and sleep until it is time for him to come out and do his job again. ps: the captain sits on the left side, and the co pilot sits on the right side.
KapitanPoop had me laughing to tears with his first comments. Its a Let 410, two crew, so as long as the copilot didnt miss the flight, no problems....yet!!!
eraujetjockey08 is incredibly insecure. just ignore him. he has a shitty attitude and it probably affects him socially, which is why he just bashes people on the internet.
I'll be printing all your wise comments out for our airline's selection committee, they love to know what they are really looking at after all those polished resumes, shoes and suits.....
maybe even sending this back to the Flight Department back at ERAU. I'm sure they'll know exactly who you are.
I know they be quite interested to know how ERAU students of your calibre are conducting themselves when they think no ones watching.
3. You make poor judgments which certainly isn't good if you are flying people in aircraft. 4. You probably got picked on or still do get picked on in normal social environments. And 5. a 'goth' kid probably at one time beat you up in the recent past (since you probably aren't old enough to have a distant past yet).
Many of us actually have to work our own way through life. However, not only are you far from correct in your assumption, but it also shows me a few more things about you are true that I originally thought to begin with. 1. You are the narrow minded rich kid that I guessed you to be. 2. You are too young (chronologically and physically) for me to waste my time with.
LOL. You've just inadvertently and completely proved my theory on you to be correct. People in the city don't have time for the "clique's" that you suburban kids have come to be so accustomed to. Thankfully, we simply don't have the luxury of wasting time to pass narrow minded judgments on people.
eraujetjockey08, you are so naive for being 'educated'. I'd bet money that you have rich parents or something and never had to work for anything on your own in your whole life. So I will try to feel sorry for your narrow mind. Ever hear the song 'what it's like' by everlast? Maybe you should listen to it.
judging by your choice in music, youre probably a goth, so go back to dressing in black, cuz daddy didnt love you enough or whatever your sad story is...as for the rest of what you said im not going to even bother responding to because like i said youre probably a goth, and i just prefer to think you people dont exist.
PS Your solo landing video on your page is the WORST thing i have ever seen in my life. I want to gouge out my eyeballs, and then yours for subjecting all of us to that HORRIFIC attempt at piloting an airplane. You should go sell bibles or something because you have no place in the aviation industry...unless you chose the technical ops position cleaning the lavatory of the airplane I pull up to the gate in!
Listen son, I've been to riddle, I went there for a few semesters and left, and the only people I met while there were a**holes who couldn't function in normal society. Every conversation they had was about planes and they all thought they were the best because they went to erau, so get a life man, you aren't the best and stop taking stuff so personally.
I am the best. Oh, and dont worry i dont take anything you say seriously. I just like provoking all of you because its so easy. You all are the ones who take everything so seriously. Im just trying to see how long it will take before everyone stops responding to me. I bet it wont be for a loooooong time....son
Don't worry he wasn't flying.. Captains and First Officers usually switch off who takes the controls during flight and some snooze or do other things..
lol you riddle tool, have nothing better to do with your life so you go around on youtube thinking you know everything because you go to riddle.. Get back to circle jerking the other guys I know they are waiting for you.

May be you end up reaching USA instead of Heathrow... lol
rawalpindi999 4 years ago 4
you ALWAYS need 2 to make sure i know someone who's a pilot and he says it is the law with most airlines
iriwan 4 years ago
depends if its a long haul or domestic flight, minimum two pilots; captain and co-pilot, on long haul flights, usually theres about three to five pilots. The captain only takes care of the major things such as take off; landings and a little of other things, but after that is done on a long haul flight, the pilot will go int oa room and sleep until it is time for him to come out and do his job again. ps: the captain sits on the left side, and the co pilot sits on the right side.

i suppose but the captain should still be monitoring stuff

"um, excuse me captain, but we past the airport"

Haha, I haven't heard that one before!

lol
iriwan 4 years ago
frankly it does happen;
because normal flights are known to be boring to pilots;
so they someimtes do fall asleep, and they do fly past the airport.....

KapitanPoop had me laughing to tears with his first comments. Its a Let 410, two crew, so as long as the copilot didnt miss the flight, no problems....yet!!!

eraujetjockey08 is incredibly insecure. just ignore him. he has a shitty attitude and it probably affects him socially, which is why he just bashes people on the internet.
he's an e-toughy. just ignore him.

"E-Toughy" Awesome! I'm gonna add that to my personal lexicon. :-)

Good luck on the internships programs after that.
Don't worry, I'm sure your daddy has lots of money to buy you a 737 rating.

Here's what I'll do.
KapitanPoop 4 years ago
here's what I already know about you:
now that I know what you look like,
(because youcouldn't resist to film yourself flying a mighty '172)
I know you attend/attended ERAU (obviously the Prescott, Arizona Campus
KapitanPoop 4 years ago
"IFR to Galveston" hmmm lets see, a C-172 in severe clear (bet you tried to log IMC on that one too eh?)
ahhh, posted only four months ago..... so you are still time building for your commercial Multi-IFR....
which means your probably still at school, either finishing up or by blind luck instructing there.

brought that one back into my mind:
what seperates two alcoholics and two nymphomaniacs?
- the cockpit door ;)

2. You are too young (chronologically and physically) for me to waste my time with.
dan64456 4 years ago
LOL. You've just inadvertently and completely proved my theory on you to be correct. People in the city don't have time for the "clique's" that you suburban kids have come to be so accustomed to. Thankfully, we simply don't have the luxury of wasting time to pass narrow minded judgments on people.
dan64456 4 years ago
eraujetjockey08, you are so naive for being 'educated'. I'd bet money that you have rich parents or something and never had to work for anything on your own in your whole life. So I will try to feel sorry for your narrow mind. Ever hear the song 'what it's like' by everlast? Maybe you should listen to it.
dan64456 4 years ago
judging by your choice in music, youre probably a goth, so go back to dressing in black, cuz daddy didnt love you enough or whatever your sad story is...as for the rest of what you said im not going to even bother responding to because like i said youre probably a goth, and i just prefer to think you people dont exist.
eraujetjockey08 4 years ago
PS Your solo landing video on your page is the WORST thing i have ever seen in my life. I want to gouge out my eyeballs, and then yours for subjecting all of us to that HORRIFIC attempt at piloting an airplane. You should go sell bibles or something because you have no place in the aviation industry...unless you chose the technical ops position cleaning the lavatory of the airplane I pull up to the gate in!
eraujetjockey08 4 years ago
wow what is wrong with you..
you're either incredibly insecure or this comment is complete sarcasm..
try being humane instead of bashing people.

Listen son, I've been to riddle, I went there for a few semesters and left, and the only people I met while there were a**holes who couldn't function in normal society. Every conversation they had was about planes and they all thought they were the best because they went to erau, so get a life man, you aren't the best and stop taking stuff so personally.
aviator8a8 4 years ago
I am the best. Oh, and dont worry i dont take anything you say seriously. I just like provoking all of you because its so easy. You all are the ones who take everything so seriously. Im just trying to see how long it will take before everyone stops responding to me. I bet it wont be for a loooooong time....son
