  • Utter masterpiece....one of the best and most movings songs ever written

  • godlike genius.....jstyrchnine i have observed yr afn person of taste n intelligence to boot...i tip m fez t you..........

  • two dislikes. two total twats

  • this song is classic because it is simultaneously humorous and serious.

  • @TheSarahFishers you mean irony?

  • @Johnnystrychnine sort of, but that's not really the word. because its humorous and serious without being ironic. you know those songs where, like, a white guy does an acoustic version of a gangster rap song? that's more what i associate with the word ironic: lameness.

  • @TheSarahFishers Indifference maybe? This musical piece is one of those moments in time that eludes description. Genius?

  • @Johnnystrychnine

i agree with the eludes description part. let's leave it at that.

  • @TheSarahFishers I bet you don't listen to this as much as I do..

  • @TheSarahFishers Description: Experimentation of analogue and minimalist sounds produced through meagre knowledge of scales. Utilizing basic key applications and combining the genres of electronic pop, experimental, garage and South American native meter. The tone color is unique and is not reflective of the punk wave of the period. All that aside, this song plays on and on even when my internet has switched off, after the song has fully loaded.

  • @TheSarahFishers This is not rap.

  • American Music

  • @Haystackable And if it wasn't would you still like it?

  • @Johnnystrychnine I just meant that it fits in so perfectly with that kind of late 50s doo-wop/ Roy Orbison/ teenage pop simplicity that is so epically in the tradition of American music. Even if it were a German band, it would still be American music and I'd love it! And I'm Canadian!!

  • @Haystackable It could be German now, where did that come from?

  • @Johnnystrychnine Dude, the point is - I really like the song :)

  • @Haystackable did the cat eat your tongue?

  • For fans of Suicide, you may like to turn your attention to indigenous native music of the South Americas. The rhythmic patterns used in Suicide's musical pieces is reflective of the roots of idigenous percussive meter (time signatures). The additional application of faux organ gives their music a type of religious musical trance.

  • Beautiful, they blew way the Clash for me at the Music machine (London) 1978

  • And the group look so cool in the pic.

  • Sublime.

  • 2 people will be having nightmares tonight

  • @FJCorboMusic people who care about the dislike bar know nothing about music, fuck off with your likes and dislikes.

  • For all the folks that dissed Springsteen's interpretation of this tune on his Devils and Dust tour, it led me to this site. Awesome song. I'll get to digging into Suicide now.

  • this makes me think of my mum who passed away she is dreaming forever xxx

  • interesting interpretation of the song. or should i say, interesting relationship with the song. i never thought of the song at all in that context. and i am very sorry about your mom.

  • simply ... shit :)

  • @potchoker ..... thats what i thought when i first heard it.... but a few cheeky spliffs later....simply shit-hot

  • Saw them live in the 1980's at NYC's Irving Plaza. Still moves me today. Three chords and a handful of words becomes a masterpiece that even Bruce Springsteen recognizes.
