@NERFDUDE87 Threaded part of the bars? There's no threads on bars, just the threads get worn into them and makes it look as if it's threaded. But yes you can, just make sure you cut a slit at the bottom.

@lilpimp343 Its what keeps the bars to the forks...the slit makes it where when the clamp tightens it squeezes the slit on the bars down to the forks so the bars dont just fly off..now an scs system is the clamps on it and theres a bolt thats running to the fork so u dont need a slit

@scootfrom2010 if you have a threaded fork/headset then u need the slit. to make it, take a hacksaw or metalsaw(better) and cut up 2" on both sides. then take a small drill bit and drill a hole right at the top. If you have a threadless fork/compression set, then you won't need it.

@tassibassi yea TheScooterTutorials is right and to add in there is no such thing as bar threads the bars after a little while of riding will cast the shape of the threaded fork which is caused by the clamp tightening the bars to the fork and the threads on the fork kinda press into the bars leaving somewhat of a thread but those "threads" dont actually do anything

@Leotheninja Myself I have hardlines, The max you can cut the width down is 2 inches. So from 18, It would be 16. The grips just go over the gussett some, But theres still some room left for the grips, And your hands.

@chrisstowers123 you raw them, if there is a paint or clear coat on them, then you need to take sand paper or paint stripper and take the paint off, then leave them out in the rain or submerge them in water, then leave them out to dry and they should start to rust. once they get to desired rustyness you should then clear coat them so that the metal does not get ruined and weaken your bars.
