I met Mr. Spahn a couple of times at Boston Braves Historical Association reunion dinners. As he was my favorite ball player and the greatest left handed pitcher of all time it was a special treat to get his autograph there and take a picture with him.
I see Sparky Anderson at about the 4 minute mark. Luckiest manager in major league history--but he still deserves to be in the Hall of Fame more than Bonds or McGwire. LOL
When I was about 13 yrs. old I had a chance to get Mr. Spahn's autograph at the Midway Hotel in Brookfield, WI. My mom wouldn't let me because they were charging $40 whole dollars. He passed away soon after that. Thanks Mom!
I grew up living and dying with the Milwaukee Braves. Listening to Earl and The Blainer describe the action on the radio late into the night was a real treat. I saw Spahnie pitch many times, and we took his skill for granted. When you compare his career statistics with other pitchers, we got to see arguably the greatest left handed pitvher in the history of the game. Thanks for some great baseball memories.
I watched Mr. Spahn pitch in the 50's when I was a kid. He was the best lefty ever. Watching him was like watching someone in a rocking chair...perfect balance. And, he can be a crusty bugger, he earned the right.
"The Hook" was one of the greatest lefthanded pitchers of all. But damn, his granddaughter is hot!

Make no mistake, this man, Warren Spahn, was the greatest pitcher in history. He was also a good soldier. He was at the Battle of the Bulge in 1944.

Wow I love this guy. With no sound it just kept me thinking about what they were talking about. Very artistic!
