He doesn't consider it a curse at this point, though - that's one of the best aspects of SR2, is we get to see Raziel change from thinking Kain is the antichrist and that the Sarafan were noble and righteous to thinking that the Sarafan are the antichrist and this was all a beautiful irony.

This is taking place thousands of years before the first game - at the end of the first game, he uses Moebius's Chronoplast Chamber to travel back in time (unwittingly). These are his 'brothers' before they became vampires. The irony in the scene is that he's killing them here, which then enables Kain to raise them as vampires (since they had to be dead to do so).

Malek was never one of Raziel's brothers. He was the leader of the Sarafan warriors, but if you watch the other videos, you'll know that he's off defending the Circle of Nine from Vorador--Raziel never fights him, and he becomes a living suit of armor for losing to Vorador.

Well they were all brothers in the sense of being comrades. They werent actual brothers by birth.

And yes Malek was one of Raziel's brethren. They were originally a group of seven sarafan priests. If he hadnt been killed and his soul cursed in a suit of armor by Vorador, he may have also have been brought back to life by Kain as one of his vampire leuteinants as was the case for his other six brethren.

I meant "brothers" in the vampiric sense; as Sarafan, Malek was quite likely pretty close to Raziel and his other direct underlings.

But I doubt very much that Kain would have raised Malek with the others. Remember that the Guardians have extended lifespans and a great amount of power; and I'm not very certain if Kain would've resurrected someone he so despised, even if it was one of the ultimate bitch moves.

I can't understand what do you mean by saying still. Since in the vid Raziel goes back in time to kill them whilist they are still human, to prevent Kain from raising them as Vampires. In the first part of Soul Reaver you kill them in their vampiric forms.

He's not preventing Kain from raising them as vampires - he's enabling it to happen. They had to be dead before they could be raised - that's where the irony is in this - Raziel killed them (and himself), which left the corpses for Kain to raise.

Well, actually you're right, the comment was before I did the Defiance and so the full LOK series. Now I think I understand all of it :)
