  • Ah the good 'ol days how I miss them.

  • Back when Videogames were at the height of coolness. Sega really put passion into their consoles.

  • Oh no problem. when people reply to comments it pops up on the top of the comments like a regular one so it gets confusing.

  • Sega Mega Drive - Japanese & PAL Region

    Genesis - United States

  • Nope:

Mega Drive = Everywhere except North America.

    Genesis = North America.

  • Don't you mean the DESCRIPTION?

  • anybody notice that SEGA backwards is AGES?

maybey they are saying SEGA is for all AGES....well,thats just my opinion.

  • It stands for "SErvice GAmes". It was founded by a guy who wanted to provide gaming machines to military customers overseas.

  • My Sega CD plays different music. I think it's because mine's a model 1.

  • Why don't more boot up screens have nice music like this?

  • Maybe they do not take a minutes to load the disk and be same time that advancet?

  • This Sega CD is japanese or american?

  • American the other one is Mega CD

  • European, Japanese AND American.

Sega also got JVC to make another version for the USA.

  • US.

  • I love the music ^^

  • this music used to scare the shit out of me for some odd reason :D

  • It's like "SEGA CD IS COMING FOR YOUR BABIES" or something.

  • It is creepy but that's what makes it cool.

  • Damn, I wish I had a SEGA CD like this one. English, ofc. Only bad thing is that I live in Sweden and this model is the U.S. only.

  • that music will play when the world ends

  • i love the music on this. i have an 8 bit sounding version on my computer :D

  • Close the CD door, god damnit!

  • Where can I download the song?

  • I got this MP3! Do you want me to send you the link

  • How was there versons nt on this consle?

  • Dude, when you look at back this comment and realize that your generation caused all this, you will realize that these laws are there for a reason.

  • No It was of Mortal Kombat, Doom, and Night Trap. I am too under 17 and making a lot more since. Sure all of these games were on the Sega Genesis. But they were a lot of other consoles. I am 12 and you I'm guessing are 13? The Sega CD was great but had crappy games.

  • I had a Sega CD but only about 12 games and I didnt get to play one till sometime in 2000 when one of my dad's friends gave it to him and then to me.The games I got with it were Sonic CD,Snatcher,Leathal Forces,Ecco the Dolphin,Final Fight CD,Night Trap,Sega Arcade Classics,Shining Force CD,The Terminator,Spider Man vs The Kingpin,Sewer Shark and Mad Dog McCree. But still that was a pice of shit but it's my pice of shit.

  • Yeah, the 32x was understandable because it costed $170 whilst the Sega Saturn was $400, but $400 for a Sega CD was just not worth it.

  • what the hell man! the 32x was good and so was the Sega CD!!!

  • I agree! Both of them have really fine games! :)

I think the main problem was just the price. It was just too expensive.

The Turbografx 16 failed in the U.S. partly because of price also. It debuted for $400, which really put off American consumers.

  • Well the 32x was really like buying a new console. It was meant to extend the lifespan of the genesis because apparently communication between the north american and japanese sega branches wasn't very good and the US didn't know that the saturn was in development.

  • That's right, the communication was somewhat off.

The 32x was also released in 1995, which was a bad year to release anything because there was a minor video game industry crash during the time.

  • yeah that's why the PS didn't do so hot that christmas, It was flying off the shelves by 96 though. I think it has probably had the worst launch and been the most successful out of any game console.

  • It takes some time for a console to really leave shelves. Consumers will start to buy a system when there are more games available for it.

  • late '94. so in the beginnings of the crash.

  • Er? Oh yeah, the crash. 1994 wasn't a good fiscal year for the industry, lol.

  • They needed their own power adapter lol

  • Holy crap Saturn was originally $400?? I didn't get mine until the system was out for about 10 years and only $30 lol

  • I think just the price tag alone gave many consumers a reason to purchase Playstation intstead! XD

But yeah, alot of gaming systems out there don't cost much money anymore. It only is in high demand for very classic systems such as Colecovision and Super Nintendo.

I got an Intellivision 2 weeks ago, but not without having to bid out $135 for it and several games.

  • Yep that's why I don't have one. Being 11 made it kind of hard to find anyway to get it. I would never be able to get that for a gift.

  • Yeah me neither. At the time I wanted a CDX too but my parents said no way mainly cuz that too was $400.

  • my sega cd was still $70 in july 2006.

  • @whattheheck1000 you bought a Sega CD, or CDX? CDX's were and are significantly more expensive because they're a Sega CD, Genesis, and a Discman all in 1 compact size (looks like a fat discman). Anyway back in 1995 or so they were about $400 new in stores.

  • just a regular Sega CD.

  • the fist 10 sec just make me wanna play my sega cd over and over

  • lol, I used to leave the door opem just to listen to this while I was falling asllep. Ah the memories. =D

  • I Wikied Sega CD and according to wikipedia, the feed is not from a normal sega cd, it's from a Sega CDX, a portable version of Sega CD, look at the bios number

  • I understand the CDX uses the same firmware and boot up screen as the Sega CD2. I could be wrong though.

  • well kinda. when you put a music cd in it says press start button and goes to the cd player. i actually had to take stuff off the thing and hook it up to see since it;s been so long since i turned it on.

  • If there isn't a disc in the Sega CD can you go to a sort of options menu?

  • I love the song to, I have the JVC x EYE to as well and it has a unique song as well but I had to own a SEGA CD i could not settle with the JVC X EYE I use her to play import MEGA CD GAMES AND MEGA DRIVE GAMES

  • i love the song :P

  • CLOSE THE CD DOOR!

  • I still have my Sega CD. Unfortunately, it's missing a vital connector that can't be easily replaced...

  • But all it needs is a power adapter.

  • I LOVE THIS INTRO MAN!!!

  • CLOSE THE DAMN DOOR!

    lol

  • SHUT UP

  • IT WAS A JOKE

  • Oh...

  • CLOSE THE CD DOOR!

  • hey guys did you know that the sega cd had no copy protection and you can play a burned or copied disc

  • Because CD R was 1000$ for the drive back then.So there is no need for copy protection.

And internet was 24k Dial Up (More like 1k a sec)

  • I know! but still! The Sega Saturn had copy protection!

  • that's because the saturn came ~4 years after the CD.

  • oh yeah, right... but what about the TG16-CD

  • That is 80s :P

  • how can this be 80's? the sega cd was released in 91 and discontinued in 95. i would call that the 90's.

  • Yea, I prefer the gen 2 version of the BIOS song, its catchy, has a good beat and doesn't sound like a hopped up Genesis song. Oh, yea, and the animations make it even better lol

  • Lol I just boot up my emulator just to watch the boot up screen effects lol....theyre hypnotic lol

  • You should try it after smoking and oz of bud. Really psychadelic.

  • Apparently you forgot to close the CD door.

  • Mega LOLZ

  • esa musica me llega al corazon XD

  • nice music

  • I am definitly starting my child on orginal sega gen games. def the way to go.

  • where can i download this song?

  • still some of the coolest music ever in videogames, reminds me of like neuromancer or something

  • Yeah but on a real CDX, it says "no disc"

  • Yeah, but the JAP/EUR is better.

  • Much better music on this one than the first model. Ugh!

  • Just this intro alone brings back memories. Those days coming home from school, rushing through my homework just so I could play SEGA CD. *sigh* Those were the days

  • I remember this intro. The CDX was a marvel of an item.

  • That is from a Sega CDX. A rare Genesis/Sega CD system.

  • Its from the 2nd verson of sega cd also.

  • Ahm...

    Is that a Modded bios?

    WTF is v2.21?

    Greetz

    Örg

  • it's not a modded BIOS

you must've owned a Model 1, cuz this is the BIOS from the Model 2 SegaCD and was the BIOS for the CDX as well
