it is an insult to compare the Type 45 to the Arleigh Burke, the Burke was designed back in the late 1980s and wasn't launched until 1991 (the ship was designed with the aim of fighting against numerous USSR warships/planes/subs). This is like comparing a phone designed in the 1990s to a modern smartphone, they are built with completely different aims in mind!
Today phones require internet access, high resolution cameras e&c.
A more realistic comparison would be to the Zumwalt class.

(Again, like Harpoons, there's "provision for". 4) There are 61(!) Arleigh Burkes. There will only be 4 Darings.

The missile (Aster 30) is rated at up to 120km. Beyond that it can only hurl insults.
The 120 km also assumes that you're obliging enough to be at sufficient altitude, to compensate for the curvature of the Earth. In short, Sampson radar has no advantage over the Aegis system which has a detection range of 160-180 km which is more than enough to engage 100 targets with 96 missiles ! Sampson can detect 800 targets and engage them with 48 missiles ! I would feel much safer with Burke.

the statistics on the Burke destroyers were wrong in several spots, no doublt because there are several flights 1, 2, and 2A that all have different capabilities. For example, flight 2A ships have hangers for carrying 2 SH-60 helicopters, the RIM-161 missile it carries has an effective range of over 270 miles with a ceiling of greater than 100 miles (is an antii-ballistic missile and anti-satelite weapon as well as anti-aircraft)

The USN simply isnt as reliant on ships for air defense as the RN. That is why these ships are quite different and difficult to compare due to the differences in tactics and doctrine( and the continued underfunding of the RN).

it is an insult to compare the Type 45 to the Arleigh Burke, the Burke was designed back in the late 1980s and wasn't launched until 1991 (the ship was designed with the aim of fighting against numerous USSR warships/planes/subs). This is like comparing a phone designed in the 1990s to a modern smartphone, they are built with completely different aims in mind!
Today phones require internet access, high resolution cameras e&c.
A more realistic comparison would be to the Zumwalt class.

The Type 45s are superb warships. Absolutely. And it's impossible to argue with the Royal Navy's competence or esprit. The Arleigh Burkes, however, are superior warships. Here's why: More SAMS, included ABM Standard-3s being deployed. 2) Actual anti-ship missiles are carried. 3) TLAM-launching capability. The Darings cannot attack land targets. (Again, like Harpoons, there's "provision for". 4) There are 61(!) Arleigh Burkes. There will only be 4 Darings.

The missile (Aster 30) is rated at up to 120km. Beyond that it can only hurl insults.
The 120 km also assumes that you're obliging enough to be at sufficient altitude, to compensate for the curvature of the Earth. In short, Sampson radar has no advantage over the Aegis system which has a detection range of 160-180 km which is more than enough to engage 100 targets with 96 missiles ! Sampson can detect 800 targets and engage them with 48 missiles ! I would feel much safer with Burke.

it can track around 30 aircrafts at once and shoot each one down with a second of each other... we not talking air crafts that argentina still have lol, type 45 has been proven fighter in sea trials and joint excercises with US.... they know what it's capabilities are, infact US asked in trials to remove the advanced radar system as it was out classing everything, if you dont believe, read it up :)

the statistics on the Burke destroyers were wrong in several spots, no doublt because there are several flights 1, 2, and 2A that all have different capabilities. For example, flight 2A ships have hangers for carrying 2 SH-60 helicopters, the RIM-161 missile it carries has an effective range of over 270 miles with a ceiling of greater than 100 miles (is an antii-ballistic missile and anti-satelite weapon as well as anti-aircraft)

@gibbsrg Also these cells could very possibly be Mk 41s providing some (admittedly limited) much needed versatility. I very much agree though with you regarding the upgrades of ABs. The USN simply isnt as reliant on ships for air defense as the RN. That is why these ships are quite different and difficult to compare due to the differences in tactics and doctrine( and the continued underfunding of the RN).

The great thing about America is, we don't need to act an old world empire. Our friends and allies are more than welcoming to US. The US provides protection, economic stimulus, military training, economic monetary and food aid. So we're not an empire, but I can see how people falsely perceive this.

The US does not have 50 military installations in the UK, and it doesn't have 11 airbases. After the Cold War ended, most have been closed. They were only there as a buffer against the Soviets - don't flatter yourself.

The American people will likely stick with our current system rather than fully embrace direct democracy. We just need to reform and end corruption, close some loopholes, the US system is the best in the world, we just need to speed it up.
