But why people do not question the stereotype that these features so-called "feminine" belong exclusively to women, and prefer to question the nature of who dont fit in it?? @zerofour44: Gender is indeed a complex study and no one can claim to know it all. According to current accepted gender definitions, Bell is a MTF transgender meaning SHE is NOT gay. Not all MTF transgender are 'feminine', in fact Bell will be playing a transgender who is a 'tomboy' in her first movie appearance 'It Gets Better' which will be shown in December! It will not be sad for a person who thinks that they are born in the wrong body if they can get the love, support, and help!

@zerofour44: No worries, my previous reply was not a criticism as well. Gender is complex and should not be seen as a binary of Male and Female only. Research has shown most transgender realize they are uncomfortable with their body at a very young age (around 5). It may be impossible to understand why and how they feel that way, but it is possible for those of us who are not transgender to have empathy and treat them with respect and dignity just like everyone else.

 And whether it's best that society would break with these conventions ... but social conventions take decades to be broken. @zerofour44 Its easy to understand if you consider sexual orientation as a spectrum with heterosexual on one end and homosexual on the other with bisexual as in-between. Some of us are extremely hetero and would not consider having a homosexual relationship, likewise for the other extreme. Fact is, most of us are bisexual and could easily switch or choose both sexuality. Due to social and 'moral' conventions we are pushed towards heterosexuality as the norm and hence all the discriminations.

@ggparded1: Belle is a transwoman, i.e. a male to female transgender. She identifies herself as a woman and has a boyfriend, hence she is considered a heterosexual. Gender orientation should not be confused with sexual orientation.

Simply put, it is almost impossible to place everyone into a neat category of gender and sexual identities. The real question we should ask is: Should we treat people differently based on their sexual and gender orientations?
