  • LOVE IT!!! Besides the snare sounding a little cheesy it rocks!!!

  • The funniest thing is to watch the peoples faces when you bring them on to gig. You can read from they lips WTF but once when you start to play it you get another a bit different WTF ;-D

  • Every kick pad and hi hat pedal works with these. I have same setup but I also modified one of my DD55s with outs for each pad so I can connect it to another module to get more strange vintage sounds. Sampled sounds on DD55 are great. This units are cheap now but they are good as the latest el drum pads. I loved my one just if I can learn to play it ;-D joke

  • how did you connect 2 drums (for double bass)

  • You're Great !

  • you MURDERED that shit my friend....i am duly impressed

  • post more videos!

  • what did you record this on??

  • AWSOME!!!

  • Dude, you totally rocked that thing. I was looking at this kit too and ended up grabbinbg some POS from Toys R us. I think I'll give this one a try, now if I only knew how to drum.

  • @InderSG wats up man?>

  • @InderSG

    I-Hop Pancake Size

  • how do u use the normal pedal's because i have the originals for the dd-65 ant that pedals suck so much....

  • @DreJoystick You are correct my friend. The cheap plastic Pedal suck, as well as the built-in speakers. I'm using the Yamaha KP-65 Kick Pad, you can mount any normal Bass Pedal to it. & the HH-80 Hi-Hat pedal. These Makes a HUGE difference. I believe Yamaha now sells a Kit, the Yamaha DK-65, I think it comes with both Pedals and a Throne / Stool.

    Hope this helps...

    I-B-Reel !

  • @IBREEL will the hh65 and kp65 work if yoi connect to the dd-55 pedal 1&2 inputs ?

  • ta muito tri escolheu a musica boa e tocou muito bem claro q gostei

  • ROLAND TR 505 IN ORIGINAL BOX WITH MANUAL !!! FOR SALE !!! SEND ME MESSAGE....

  • back to back DD 65'z?

  • Awesome! I have the DD-50 and will be getting the 55, have you used the 50? is the 55 much better? Rock on

  • Dude you're awesome!! Cool how you expanded your "kit" by using another DD55!

  • It amazes me how discouraging people can be towards others.........

Imagine if Einstein or Alexander Graham Bell or Edison had been discouraged like this? I think we would have oil soaked rags on sticks for lighting in our castles we'd still be living in.

Rock on dude. BTW Yamaha instruments are the bomb; I own 3.

This just goes to show you, even a "toy" in the hands of a dedicated player can sound awesome.

  • Cool !!!

  • Dude - nice work here. Shows how in the right hands even a "toy" can be a solid musical tool. Great vid, thanks for sharing.

  • wow that is awesome. I played drums for 20 yrs but my ex wife made me give it up. I would like to put together a little kit like that for my apartment

  • @kfg122

Not sure if you meant... Retired Ass, or Retard Ass? I guess I'm both..lol

    Thanks for viewing!

    I-B-Reel!

  • @kfg122 Wow, the crap people say when they think they are safe at there computers, hope you stub your toe 3 times this week.

  • I have the same drum kit, but unfortunately I can't play worth a damn. It's still fun to try to nail a nice drum fill for my tracks.

  • You make this song sound better i think i listen to it at least once a day!Do you think you could handle this would just 1 unit?

  • wow ur reaky good id lik to see wat u can do on real drums

  • thank you a lot, but only that drum bass pedal works on the kit?

  • I believe it needs to be Yamaha, But I'm not sure???

    --------------

Yup! I have a TAMA Double Pedal on this one.

But you have to buy the KP-65 Pad. You can mount any Pedal onto it.

Yamaha Actually sells an optional kit for these that come with the Kick-Pad & Hi-Hat Pedal & a throne/stool.

It makes a huge difference, because the cheap plastic pedals that come with the Pads are NO-GOOD!

    Hope this helps

    I-B-Reel!

  • hey i will like to buy this kit, but i will like to have a normal bass pedal to :/ the thing is can you put a bass drum pad on that drum kit? thank you

  • My god... great... Great man ;]

  • yep, ace drumming. what i would like to see is a vid of a dd65 being used live with a band.......I really dont see why not......do you?

  • @buttoneer63

Both the DD65 & 55 have great sounds when using the line out.

But it is a plastic module, thus "Toy Drums"

    So when you say Live...

If you mean a lot of moving... touring the pads from gig to gig... I wouldn't recommend.

If you mean like a lounge house-band where it can stay put? it would work great!

    I-B-Reel!

  • how do you connect to garageband?

  • @bearhead3

    Stereo-Out from each unit to. . .

    Alesis 8-Ch FireWire Mixer,

    FireWired to my Mac-Pro.

    Hope this helps,

    I-B-Reel !

  • dam thats crazy. seems like u gotta be good enough to not miss those things for sure. jeezus

  • i am really amazed with your creativity. i have the dd65. how did you use a real double pedz and the hi hat peds?

  • @deepviolator

Found a used KP-65 (Kick Pedal) on ebay, you can attach any Bass Pedal to it, I attached a TAMA-Double Pedal.

I also found a used HH-80 High-Hat Pedal on ebay.

After I sent my YouTube Video to Yamaha, I noticed they came up with a kit, like what I did??

Go to the Yamaha Website & search DK-65

    Makes a HUGE Difference!

    Hope this Helps,

    I-B-Reel !

  • i heard that the sound is weak/bad without the amp. So does the amp come with the drums? And is there also a headset that the sound comes out from them? BTW great drumming!

  • Thanks for checking out the video. The unit comes with Built-In Speakers that sound VERY BAD. Do not use those. The unit ALSO has one 1/4 inch Stereo Output. It can be used for Headphones, or It can be used as a Line out to a Stereo or Amplified Speakers. Same way you connect an iPod or CD player to a Stereo or Amplified Speakers. Which is Best?? it depends on the Quality of your Headphones or Speakers.. The Pads do not come with an Amp. Hope this helps. I-B-Reel !
  • Thanks!

  • Dude I'm so getting one of these! It sounds really good! How are you making out on the snae sound? The snare is the only thing that sounds funky on it. What is your favorite number or setting for the snare. This kit is really cool for guys like me who have a wife in school and no where to practice. Great video. Thanks so much for posting it.

  • Thanks for viewing.

Yup,These are Great for the Price.

Snare is a bit funky, but sounds much better through a good set of headphones.

    I think I used snare 53 on this one, I also like Snares, 20, 27, & 30.

    Thanks Again,

    I B Reel !

  • I got DD 65 recently, and i realy wonder how yo costumize the sounds on the pedals .. if there's a way to costumize the sound of each pedal as i like, the already "combined" sets that's in it already not fitting me :P

  • Hey P, I can't speak for the DD65... but the DD55 does have one Custom Kit, (CU) That you can assign any sound to any Pad or Pedal. If I turn it off, & come back a week later, it's still there. I dial up Kit # CU and the pads & pedals are assigned as I left them. NOTE: Need Batteries, or keep the power adapter plugged in, to retain memory. hope that helps., I-B-Reel !
  • haha good to know everyone with the dd55 suffered the same pain!

    good playing.

  • did you notice that the stock pedals on the dd55 like, kept fading in and out of working, sometime playing like 3 bass pedal at a time instead of once... thats what happened for mine

  • Yup, the Cheap Plastic pedals that come with the DD55 really suck. I suggest to upgrade...

Go to the Yamaha website, they sell a kit for the DD55 & the DD65 that has the Pedals ....

    I-B-Reel !

  • nice 5*

  • great. just wanna ask where did you bought these kit?

  • ebay...

Search Yamaha DD-55, the new one is DD-65.

These come with cheap plastic pedals...

    I found their Pro Pedals...

    Yamaha KP-65 HH-80

    Hope this helps...

    I-B-Reel!

  • you're a great drummer !!! :)

  • Great!

    Man, you played great!!!

Compliments. It's not easy qith this kind of instruments...

    Really Great.

  • Thank You for the compliment!

    It's a FUN Toy.

I do have to adjust my aim,

when I get on my real Drum Kit.

    Thanks again for viewing,

    I-B-Reel !

  • cooooool

  • I ended up getting a Roland TD-4 module and connecting it to a Ion Drum Rocker set. only spent $460 total and its NICE! :)

  • Dude, that is nice, Rock-On!

  • neat ! I'm thinking about buying one of these and cracking it open to connect some DIY edrums to it and use it as the "brain" People did that with the Alesis SR-16 years ago and now its being sold commercially as the Ion IED01 drum set.. pretty wild :)

  • Thanks for the info,

That is pretty wild, I just search it... Affordable too...:)

    Thanks for viewing,

    I*B-Reel!

  • do you custom your drum kits on the other one too

  • You have a good ear...

I think the snare drum is the only sound that changed in the other one.

    Thanks for viewing!

    I-B-Reel

  • great idea you got there. 2 dd 55.

Imagine if you put Superior Drummer there on live stage.

People at first will laugh at you, but after you play it, they will be surprised. lol

  • Thanks for viewing!

That would be a cool reaction to see.

The 2 dd55s was an accident.

I got the 2nd unit used and very cheap as a back-up.

I set them up side by side just to compare and make sure it worked.

    They been together ever since.

    I-B-Reel

  • Nice job on this one. Do you recommend using those to add on to an electronic set?

  • Thanks for checking in.

These are great affordable add ons, but I call them Toy Drums because they are not built tough enough for playing gigs that require setting-up & breaking-Down nightly. For a permanent location they're great.

    I-B-Reel

  • simbals*

  • Cymbals :)

  • Umm...how does your set sound soo good?...Did u somehow, modify the sounds of your kit? it sounds soo good...D;

  • Thanks for viewing.

Basically, Stereo Line out of ea unit into my Alesis FireWire Mixer.

My mixer is FW connected to my Mac-Pro Computer, & I record Live.

    I-B-Reel!

  • soo...basically putting it is...ermm..

You didn't change anything and you just connected it to your laptop?

  • Apologies I avoided answering your main question.

The MultiMix8 mixer has 3-EQ knobs for ea channel LO, Mid, & HI. Since the top pad is mostly Cymbals, only the HI is pushed +10.

The bottom Pad is the Drums, Ride, & Hi-Hat, The Mid is 0, but the HI & LO are pushed +10.

DD55s, the internal reverbEFX is ON.

It also depends on the drums and cymbals sounds you assign to the pads. Not sure if the numbers are the same on the DD65. If you want those, let me know, and Ill email them.

    I-B-Reel!

  • Ohh...it's alright..;]...

    *reads what you mostly said*...x___x...

I didn't understnd one bit of it...:))..

Ohh my...it would be an honor for you to offer me that...soo please...email them to me..^^

  • im right handed but i use my right hand on the snare and my left hand on the sibals

  • Greetings UK.

    Right, Left, Feet or Hands.

Doesn't matter how you play, as long as you have FUN!

I never took lessons or training.

Just do what makes you feel Good with music.

  • you're great!

  • Thank You Very Much...

    POLAND - Excellent.

    I-B-Reel!

  • Awesome drumming. :D

Dang, I used to have a DD-55 and I thought the sound was crappy. Nice job on the recording. :D

  • Thanks for the complement, and thanks for viewing D.

When I first heard the DD-55 with it's internal speakers, I thought the same thing.

Man, this sounds like Crap, I almost gave it away.

Then I plugged a cable from the Stereo Line-Out to my computer, and WOW, it totally blew me away.

It's not bad... for a plastic toy.

    Thank You D,

    I-B-Reel!

  • im planning on getting electric drums... should i buy a cheaper version of urs? lol or buy one of those yamaha or hart dynamics drumsets, im not sure but i really want something real to have a better feel to the drums, please respond quickly.

    oh and nice!

  • Thanks for checking it out.

    New Drum Kit, Cool!

It all depends on your budget$.

In my opinion, the best electric, real feel Kit out there is the Roland V-Drums with the Mesh-Heads, like the TD-12 & the TD-9.

Try them at your nearest music store-AMAZING!

If you want something just for fun, the Yamaha-Pads are fine.

(I do call them Toy Drums for a reason)

    Just try before U buy.

    I-B-Reel!

  • Thanks I-B-Reel. I can go further with information.

    Good luck with future recording.

    Henny

  • Dear I-B-Reel,

This is great! Just like your other videos. I'am also a DD55 player.

    I have a few questions:

    - How did you do that with the bass pedals (I thought I have readed it somewhere but cannot find it back)?

    - How did you record your drums? Did you used the MIDI-out or headphones out? Did you record it using software or directly on a digital recorder? I ask you that because I'm searching to record my own playing and mix them with other instruments.

    Thanks anyway and bye,

    Henny

  • Greetings to the Netherlands, Thanks for viewing.

Pedals- I use Yamaha KP-65 for Bass & HH-80 for Hi-Hat. Yes they work great.

Recording- I use Line/Headphone out. Using Alesis Firewire Mixer to my Mac. Software - I use Apple's Final Cut Pro. I can capture Video from Firewire Camera, and audio from Firewire Mixer at the same time.

If you want to add instruments, you can send your recording to Apple's Garage Band Software. It sounds difficult, but it's quite easy.

    Hope this helps.

    I-B-Reel!

  • Wow.

  • wooooooo. uncles still got it

  • NIIICCCEEEE! I owned a Yamaha DD 50 a few years ago, I always preferred heavier sticks... (5 A's) Oh man, I'd always knock the batteries loose, or the adapter plug. I tried everything to cushion it to no avial! You seem to have no problem with the DD 55's!

    Keep on rockin'!

  • Thanks for viewing!

    You have a good ear.

Yup... I was late on a couple of down beats.

    Thanks Again,

    I-B-Reel

  • Good stuff man you made up my mind to go electronic thanks for the awesome demo and skills a plenty just watch the timing on the fills
