Wow, what a horrible way of cooking rice. All the nutrition are threw away with the water. What I do it cook in a closed pressure cooker, and as soon as the cooker make the boiling noise, we have to turn the heat at the minimum and leave the rice to cook for 40 min and that is it. Also i use non refined salt that is tastier and healthier.
Thanks man! I look forward to cooking my brown rice like this tomorrow. I just made some (before I watched your video) and it came out HORRIBLE. A lot of it was stuck to the bottom of the pan and it didn't taste very good. Good to know I can prepare it your way next time! Ty.
I just finished cooking the rice and I must say, I'm impressed! None of it got stuck to the bottom of the pan and it tastes great. Thank you very much. You earned yourself a sub.
I''m going to try this, I've been trying to make spanish rice from brown basmati rice and I just can't seem to cook it right. Either I use too much water and have extremely squishy rice, or not enough, it's not cooked and I have to add more water and end up with the same result. This is super easy, hard to mess up and comments on this video and other websites all say it does come out really good this way as long as you don't have to cook anything else with it.
salt is bad for you according to the gerson theropy lol. i make brown rice caause its usully healthier then those white rice like jasmine basmati rice and such. We cook it without salt

@meanmachinemarine Did you use the water amount on the directions from the box? if you did it will not work. Just fill your pot with salted water just like if you were making pasta. bring it to a boil, add rice and then cook it using the directions on the box.
I'd say rewatch the TWO AND A HALF MINUTE VIDEO .....listen really really close......and you'll hear him say to simmer the rice for about thirty minutes....depending on the stove that means med/low or low setting on the burner....if you still have trouble.....give up....if you can't cook rice its only down hill for you my friend

@zinkwater Well....the instruction tell you to use Specific amount of rice and water. What I am showing you here is to cook the rice like you would cook pasta. Just use the cook time on the box to keep track till done.
@SupaFlyBoyZz699 Hi there, I make oatmeal every morning. The simplest way is in the microwave. Add i/2 cup of whole oats, (Not instant or quick cook oats) and 1/2 cup of milk and cook for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes (depends on your microwave). Add cold milk after it comes out of the microwave to make it the consistency you want.
hey hey! Have you thought about intellectus 424 diet (google it)? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cooworker lost a ton of weight with it.
Good technique. Instead of trying to calibrate your oven temperature, amount of water and rice, this is sure-fire. @msmoni13 1. Think about the water as if you were cooking pasta. 2. Stir it every once in awile like pasta. 3. After you get a boil turn in down to medium-high heat and simmer.

@elitedonk Brown rice is healthier than white rice if you're going to eat rice. If you're fat, eating brown instead of white will make you lose a little fat weight. @bwielos51 The fats in Oats are indeed "essential fatty acids" and good for you and part of a healthy, balanced diet. Food is not the enemy -- don't obsess too much about the macronutrients. As long as you are eating "real food" in reasonable quantities and moving a reasonable amount your health will benefit. Oats certainly qualify as "real food" in my book.
Juan, the brown rice came out "al dente" but it sure did not clump together. Next time I will cook it 5 min. longer. Should I expect brown rice to be coarser in texture than white rice? Overall your recipe was a success. How do you prepare your yams?
@bwielos51 Yes brown rice is coarser and more dense. that is the added health benefits of the fiber in the grain. Which yam recipe are you talking about?
@healthcoachcathy depending on the brown rice, it takes 35-45 minutes. I check it when time is up to see if it is done, if still hard just continue cooking time. Did you boil it like pasta?

@enisorian glad it worked for you. Don't forget to salt it good. After it is cooked you can add any other herbs or spices you'd like. some times instead of water I will use chicken stock. have fun with it.
Thank you very much for posting this video, my rice cooker always cooks the bottom too long and it always overcooks on the bottom. I never thought about using enough water to keep it from all boiling away... I'll have to try this
Omg! I finally made brown rice that wasn't sticky and gross thanks to your video. What a great and easy way to make brown rice! And no measuring anything! That made it even better to cook it. Sounds silly to say about cooking rice, but I was really amazed at how easy it was to make and how great it came out. Now I can have delicious brown rice at home and not just at a restaurant! Thanks a bunch. =)
u did not say how much water and at the ending the rice was sticky together and it feels like you paused the video made it again then started the video to make it come out perfect thats what i think sorry i seen better a chef and weight coach should pay a little more attention
@WWEfan9524 I am sorry to hear that it did not work out for you. maybe you did not use enough water. As I stated on the video I just fill the pot with boiling water and add the rice. It will cook just like you cook pasta. I also sorry you think I would be deceitful and make another pot, I did not. I make this 2-3 times per week. juan

The key with basmati rice is to take it slow. 1/8 cup is plenty for one
man with say baked pink salmon and avocado but that rice will
have to boil for an hour to cook al dente
Zakariah1971 6 days ago
I could have missed it but when did you say the ratio of water to rice?
ItsEMoneybaby 3 weeks ago
@ItsEMoneybaby There is NO ratio, cook the rice like you cook pasta in salted water.
fitcoach2007 3 weeks ago
The key is to taste it at 30min. Chinks and gooks like gummy rice.

@Zakariah1971
This is an extremely rude comment, you should be ashamed of yourself.

you should try cooking it in chicken broth. adds a lot of taste to the rice and gives it a mushy texture if you're into that kind of consistency

Good technique. Instead of trying to calibrate your oven temperature, amount of water and rice, this is sure-fire. I recently saw a video of someone who cooked their brown rice using as pressure cooker and it still took them 45 mins plus the 10-15 mins to allow the pressure to subside; you'd think the device would have a quick-release valve for rapid cooling. Made no sense to me as the stovetop instructions usually call for 45 mins using a conventional pot with lid. Par-boiled brown even less.

fitcoach2007 1 year ago
what is the name or brand of the brown rice and from where do u get them ?
fatty2beauty 1 year ago
I also like to drain the rice while cooking. But don't u think we loose some minerals ?
2285utubej 1 year ago
@2285utubej It might lose some minerals, just have to make sure you are eating a balanced meal.

Mexican4life14 1 year ago

fitcoach2007 1 year ago
@fitcoach2007
how many cups of water per cup of rice ?
CanaryBlack0 1 year ago
@Mexican4life14 No measurement involved. You are cooking it like if you were cooking pasta. Just fill a pot with water and add salt
fitcoach2007 1 year ago
@enisorian glad it worked for you. Don't forget to salt it good. After it is cooked you can add any other herbs or spices you'd like. some times instead of water I will use chicken stock. have fun with it.
fitcoach2007 1 year ago
Do you have to cover it with a lid when its cooking?
brandon2932 1 year ago
@brandon2932 I do not cover it.

Thank you very much for posting this video, my rice cooker always cooks the bottom too long and it always overcooks on the bottom. I never thought about using enough water to keep it from all boiling away... I'll have to try this

@jasonsbitch73 You are welcome

I gave up with cooking brown rice.. never comes out good. :(
I will just make quinoa. Comes out good for me ;)
thugricanz 1 year ago
30 minutes is a very long time......
for best results u should soak the rice for about 1 hour ..... this way wen u cook them they take a lot less time and come out just perfect...
for one cup of brown rice = 1 1/2 cup water.
hope it helps...it works for me....
avocada1 1 year ago
@avocada1 I might try this. Soaking is good!
thugricanz 1 year ago
1.5 cups of water per 1 cup of rice. that's the ratio i use.. works out perfectly 4 me :)

u did not say how much water and at the ending the rice was sticky together and it feels like you paused the video made it again then started the video to make it come out perfect thats what i think sorry i seen better a chef and weight coach should pay a little more attention
WWEfan9524 1 year ago
@WWEfan9524 I am sorry to hear that it did not work out for you. maybe you did not use enough water. As I stated on the video I just fill the pot with boiling water and add the rice. It will cook just like you cook pasta. I also sorry you think I would be deceitful and make another pot, I did not. I make this 2-3 times per week. juan
