  • i'm listening less and less to anything coming from the media. it all seems tobe nothing but crap.

they make it up as they go.it doesn't matter what they are talking about either.

at first I was not a Willie Nelson fan. my father was and after listening to his music Willie's music has grown on me.Now when I hear it I do not turn it off.

  • i wonder if Reagan ever got an urge to light up a huge spliff.

maybe his disastrous "war on drugs" could have been avoided.

    but, i digress.

    wille is a legend.

  • ALWAYS LOVED GOOD OLE WILLIE NELSON

AND HE´S ONE OF THE ALL-TIME GREATEST

    SONGWRITERS.

  • was this originally from 60 minutes?

  • Now, How did this man steal this song from the pet shop boys???

Kidding , KIDDING... no hate mail please.

  • shut up babara quit talking over the song..

and do something creative before you die bitch..

  • Reagan either needs an ass whooping or a joint

  • ha ronald reagans half his career was anti drugs and his favorite artist is the biggest pot smoker in americs

  • Hey Josh - found it. Thanks for posting. Never mind those ignorant of Willie's greatness!

  • Wow 28 years ago..my PARENTS were kids lol Willie rules

  • i see this was before reagan declared his war on drugs, lucky for him cause otherwise willie wouldn't play for someone whose sent thousands of innocent of any crime pot lovers to jail

  • kinda disapointing he wasnt playing trigger at 5:28, but i love willie

  • "And Willie is dressed for the occasion, too." I love how he wears the bandana and a black T to perform in front of the president. An outlaw.

  • what kind of monster are you

  • Fuck Barbara Walters!

  • Willie is an original, and I guaran-damn-tee it to anybody!

  • @monster4josh AMEN

  • @monster4josh I totally agree!!

  • I believe Willie Nelson to be one of the best, if not the best country music singer and composer, ever know. He has his problems as well as some others, like Johny Cash, etc. But I have faith that at the end, he will come out alright. I love his singing, and try weigh more the goods than the beds.

  • LT1HILLINGHOE ......FUCK YOU

  • Willie is nothing now but a old drug using disgrace. He only had one song worth listening to and that was the one he sung here. Angel flying to close to the Ground." You were always on my mind is definitely not the longest running country song at number 1. That is completely false and Billboard facts back it up. He only one the big award once in '79 of Ent. of the year and that was because Waylon on his records helped him get it. Please....Willie Nelson? LOL I love country but not him.

  • What makes Willie a "disgrace"? Drug use?

Willie's wrote and sung a number of interesting original songs (take the time to seek them out--some very poetic, complex compositions), not only this one!

In 1982-83 "Always On My Mind" may have been the longest-running no.1 on the charts. Today Willie's recording is still immensely popular, and that's 27 years later...not bad!

  • With Waylon, it was the other way around, my friend.

It was Willie's 4th of July Picnic, and calling Waylon over to play at the Armadillo in '74 that exposed younger folk to Waylon's albums! In '74 Willie produced a Waylon album that was very successful...in '75 Willie hit with "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.

  • In '76 "Wanted The Outlaws" launched the Waylon & Willie hit duo with "Luckenbach, Texas" and "Good Hearted Woman," with Willie overdubbing his vocals. They followed up with the "Waylon & Willie" album in '77 in the meantime Willie put out solo albums with successful singles. But he broke out in '78 with "Stardust" and a KILLER live album. Selling out arenas with Leon Russell in the meantime and constant touring didn't hurt; by '79 I'd say Willie earned the Entertainer award!

  • *Also in '79: Willie had released the albums "Willie Sings Kristofferson", "The Electric Horseman-Sountrack," "One For The Road w/Leon Russell," and "Pretty Paper"!

(and recorded duet singles with Ernest Tubb, Ed Bruce, Emmylou Harris, and Hank Cochran)...

...and appeared in two films: "Thief," and "The Electric Horseman."

    Willie worked hard that year!!!

  • "Crazy" isn't a song worth listening to?

If you don't appreciate the genius of Willie Nelson, just who do you think are good country artists?

  • Don't make me list all the Willie songs worth listening to--there's too damn many of them! The original recording of "On The Road Again" earned a friggin' Grammy, and is better than the National Anthem, in my opinion!

He's put out so many great albums, I can't buy them fast enough...but for me, it's Willie live that shines best! "Willie & Family Live" is still one of my favorites. I'll never forget when he and the band signed the Lp for me!

  • Get your facts straight yankee!

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE

Willie, and most other Texas artists, were never, and still aren't, about winning awards. So go enjoy your Nashville "pop country". I'm sure your Taylor Swift CD is calling you right now.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE

do you drink or smoke or drink coffee or take aspiring or prescription drugs? yep, you too are a drug using disgrace!

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE even two years later, your comment is just ignorant and dumb. Willie has recorded over 60-something albums, he's in the hall of fame, he's probably one of the most widely-known musicians in the world.

So, what have YOU accomplished? hahah... I guess those "old drug using disgraces" are pretty damn successful ;)

  • to all the Barbara Walters haters

    SUCK IT!!!!

  • you know damn well barbra is high as hell how could you not be his ranch has a tp on itgod bless you willie keep up the fight we need you

  • 3:58 Angel Flying To Close to The Ground - START

Everybody please post 3:58 when you comment.

  • Is it just me or does Willie look like Zakk Wylde at the start of this vid?

  • Barbara Walters is and always will be a pompous no talent ass. The way she spoke to willie you'd think she were talking to a special needs child.

  • and she wanted some dick from farrakhan

  • And she regularly proves it on that ridiculous theater of the absurd known as The View.

  • oh shut up fool

u kno u love the view

  • You got to remember, willie is the first real star she ever got to interview. lol

  • my grandpa was in his first band on 18th street in waco tx : )

  • hahahahaha .... his 1st wife sewed him in a bed sheet.

    :P

  • One of many legendary stories of Willie's younger years

  • Willie Nelson For President!

  • I'm sure Nancy Reagan loves Willie and his little habit of occasionally smoking a God-given plant that grows naturally out of the ground.

  • Awesome interview. Barbra is a bitch though.

  • I feel sorry for Willie here, with these lame questions she asks!

  • Willie! :)
