Just thought I'd mention that this sequence was made by a guy called Kyle Cooper. He's a legendary title sequence artist who also crafted the intro's to Se7en, Iron Man and MGS2 and 3. He almost single-handedly brought back the art of title sequences and deserves to be credited in this videos description.

Thats why the subplots of Romero movies always involve zombies serving as a metaphor, Night: Racism, Dawn: Consumerism, Day: communication between people. Day was the worst basically because the subplot was so weak in fact.

@Notalent1337 i guess that makes sense....but as far as mindless crowds go i believe the vast majority of people that watch zombie movies don't see or think as deeply as you do about them or at least Romero's works. so the aspect i spoke of about murdering assholes being of huge intrigue to most people is still a valid point. people like to kill that's a fact, and zombie apocalypses give quite a good reason to even if it is just a fantasy.

If this were to ever happen in real life, I think the government would be fairly savvy. And as soon as they realized it wasn't a domestic issue, the situation would escalate very, very quickly. Good thing, too. Zombies thrive on overconfident authorities.

I remember reading about a University study once where they analyzed everything about a fictional Z-apocalypse and came to the conclusion that if we didn't take control very fast, civilization would collapse worldwide with isolated pockets of survivors, not unsamilar to the movies & books.

There is an article at cracked.com that seemed scientific enough and reached exactly the opposite conclusion, with zombies dying extremely fast due to a number of factors like... the fact that they were not alive causing them to rot. And being in movement, under the sun, would make them rot faster. Then, seeing how they did not generate heat (what with them being dead), they would also freeze solid in winter.

The sun thing will rot their skin, flesh etc but there bones would still be atleast intact enough to somewhat move around no? Interesting reply though. @jerseyirish Bones do not allow you to move, they only serve as a structural support for everything else. Muscle and sinew is what lets you move, and that will be affected by rot. And the more rotten a zombie is, the faster it becomes harmless. Leg rot off? That´s a ton of mobility lost. Jaw rot off? Can´t bite you. Arm rot off? Can´t grab you.

Of course, if for some reason the zombification let the bones act by themselves, we would be screwed, but that is going into Dungeons and Dragons land.

I think alot of it is the fact that all of our current problems would go right out the window at the drop of the hat is what I find intriguing. I think 28 weeks later had the most realistic zombie outbreak explanation. when the shit hit the fan, the military reacted by quarantining the infected area and waited for the zombies to starve to death. Not that "The government falls, and zombies take over the world in less than a month." BS that is used in every other zombie movie.

You'd have to defend yourself, sure, but primarily it's about getting somewhere isolated, away from populated areas (because people mean zombies), and just surviving on your own, with maybe a few extra people. Just because you don't live in America or Russia doesn't mean you'd be fucked. Anyone will skill with a weapon, brainse, the capacity for wilderness survival, and the determination to live will likely make it.
