  • I have the album pictured here and I believe its incorrectly being used here as the "Full Version" on the album I have is 17:05 minutes long.

  • Smoke on....Love this song

  • Hey, wait a minute, this sound like rock and/or roll :D

  • @simo2805 IT IS!!! :D

  • GEE wally! I have a longer version of this song.

  • It's funny but when I hear a song for the first time in a long time, as in the case of In A Gadda Da Vida, it's like I'm hearing it for the very first time. I was born in 1950 and I remember listening to this song back in the late 60s with a bunch of friends whom I haven't seen in a long time. But the memories kept coming back to me the more I listen to this song now. One of my all time favorites.

  • best song ever.

  • So many people think it's 'in the garden of eden''

  • @SirMonkeyoftheBrook sad isn't it? lol

  • @niceboyz77 hahaha. well, it almost is. I read the lead singer was so smashed that he was actually trying to say " in the garden of eden", however band mates thought his drunken slur was far more catchy.

  • These guys rock to

  • This was the first LP that I bought; I was in 7th grade.

  • Sorry, but the FULL version lasts for 17 minutes 5 seconds. Still great though. =)

  • Hate to tell you, but the FULL version lasts for 17 minutes 5 seconds. Still great though.

  • This song was written by one of the original members of the band, Darryl DeLoach, in the Clairemont area of San Diego. I used to listen to them practice in his garage.

  • @snulton SERIOUSLY???!!!!

  • @beatleforce1 Yeah, I was in the same Cub Scout Pack with him and my mom was one of the Den Mothers. Darryl later became a restauranteur in the San Diego area. He passed away about 6 or 7 years ago.

  • @cvjstaffing Wow thats so cool!! although i'm sorry to here that he died...

  • @snulton But it's always credited to Doug Ingle

  • This songs so awesomely long, that my computer can't take the pressure, its freezing ever 10 seconds

  • find a record player that plays on 16 rpm and has a tempo adjuster. set the tempo all the way to its lowest and play this song. evil as shit.

  • como lo antiguo no hay na.

  • “Hey Marge, remember when we used to make out to this hymn?”

  • @Bomerlunder "oh shhh *giggle*"

  • @Bomerlunder I think EVERYONE over 50 has "made" out to this track it's to do with the runtime, same as Bolero.and Stairway to Heaven = no having to change records halfway through the "act"

    :)

  • @Bomerlunder If this was a mymn it would be one of my favorites and if they have a person playing a piano or organ in church i would love to slip this song in there book to see if they play it lol

  • homer and marge made out to this hymn and I got lucky to it I am so going to hell but I don't care the heating is cheap there lol

  • My dad, born in 49, had mentioned this being one of his favorite songs. I never really understood it, it was definitely different but I never thought it was that great. Then after getting ripped on a pretty frequent basis, I came across this song again..... "DAD DAD I GET IT NOW, THIS IS THE BEST SONG EVER"

If you've never listened to this song stoned, you've never heard this song. It is a masterpiece without equal.

  • Too bad they cut some of it off at the end of the song.

  • best stoner song evar

  • @Random13Cinema Ha... I almost forgot what a "stoner" is... but, you & this song did take me back. .. way, back....

  • one of those seminal songs that signify and carry a generation's heart and soul - will always mean us ... the flowering of freedom.

  • This song proves that sometimes even a marginally talented group of musicians can make a song that's fucking legendary.

  • Ladies should use caution while listening to this song. Even the drum solo by itself may cause unexpected pregnancy.

  • @Evi1doomnerd listening to it now make me remember the LSD trips I use to have listening to this

  • @Evi1doomnerd ha funny... whole song could induce indulgence on a massive scale... doesn't just need the drums... the song itself is a masterpiece. you got the best comment ever. !!

  • Comment removed

  • @SongsByTheBeatles I was born in 1963 and have the album.

  • @SongsByTheBeatles Her music was mid 70's almost disco era ughh or hair rock

  • @artwebon Hair Rock is amazing....

  • @TheKassicRock This is NOT "hair rock!" It's psychedlic rock.

  • @pkallen58 I'm telling him 80s Hair Rock is amazing (Poison, Motley Crue, ect), I'm not an idiot.

  • @SongsByTheBeatles try to remember, back in that day, many of the " Non - Conformist " bands were relegated to the worst form of broadcasting ever. The FM band (for radios) or the UHF channels ( for television ). If you've ever been to A car show with cars from those days, you'll notice they have AM ONLY radio, FM being A Russian invention. UHF is now what ALL broadcast TV is. so we're all bad kids! now go get your spanking!

  • @SongsByTheBeatles Why? She was 8 yrs old when this hit the airwaves! You really think she was listening to this?

  • @kaiser152 so true

  • There should be an "I LOVE THIS" button.

  • @MarischaLInto809 The time this was uploaded, youtube only allowed 15 mins of video space. Be glad that he uploaded this much.

  • i loved it when bart made everyone sing this song in church

  • 1965 and no one on earth had heard anything like it.

    It still sounds great.

  • Fuck In the Garden of Eden. Its In-a-gadda-da-vida. Thats sounds much better

  • In the garden of Eden...

  • I listen to this just for the drum solo.

  • i wish i could get free acid and pot would be nice too

  • This and Whipping by the Allman Brothers Band Post live at Fillmore are the best and longest rock song ever produce = The Epic of Rock Music

  • Actually, the original lyric was "In the Garden of Eden". =Stefan=

  • Wow! This video was posted exactly 1 year before I posted this comment.

(This is an awesome song btw.)

  • Like the song and all, but the drum solo is not as great as people make it out to be. Not taking anything away from the guy or saying i can do better(or even come close for that matter) but it's over rated

  • @internetjunk1 it`s not about how great the drum solo was it was something different at the time .it is iconic of that generation. So it isn`t over rated as far as i`m concerned .But it does evoke great memories for me from that time in high school.

  • @internetjunk1 If you can do better, as you say you can, post one!! Please! I love drum solos, show us what you can do! You said you could do better, I believe you, so I'm calling your bluff... SHOW US!! I am an old guitar player , if you post a video playing the drum solo, backing up what you say, then we can make a million seller album!!! Gold!! Ooops, are you there? Gonna show us or not??

  • @91fatboy51 Ok I missread the comment, sorry I thought you said you could do better, my fault, sorry... friends, OK?/

  • @internetjunk1 Overrated in terms of what? Skill...? It's obviously not the the most technical drum solo, but it's nice to listen to and just flows perfectly with the song. Stairway to Heaven isn't the most technical guitar solo by a mile, yet it's widely praised by everyone because it SOUNDS good, just like this drum solo.

  • de puta madre soy peruano

me dicen el loco memo apolo peru gracias por el recuerdo

  • Yes, this song goes back to the day, and I heard tell that this song is about some young gal being buried alive in the Garden of Eden, but then again, who knows.

  • I can't figure out how often I listened to this song while being high. Love it!

  • my dad introduced this song to me,thanks dad !

  • I have repeating this song 10 times!

  • One of the most epic drum solos in history.

  • @chuckbyf1 I used to have this solo down pat (it's really not that difficult). Anyway, I played a little of it during a lull on our last gig and the audience remembered & loved it! Now we're practicing the song :-)

  • I can't believe there are dislikes , let alone 10 - goodness!

  • i saw this played live in 1971 was 28mins long, every concert was different length but the music is so amazing never tire of hearing it

  • @awakenfromthedream I know.

  • This song is so inspirational to a umpteenth degree you have to be a dunce and distracted length of reason to enjoy it's full score

  • Love it back in it's day & still love it today ,You don't need to be stoned to listen to this .... But it helps (: What happened??? it didn't finished the song , DAMMMM no wonder the 10 don't like it , it just faded out w/o finishing, maybe I'll have to join the 10 dislikes although I already voted like.

  • I would love to go to a church and switch the hymns with ‘In a Gadda da Vida’.

  • @BejnXander ... it has been done... :P

  • @gumojose Evidently :P The Simpsons have done everything.

  • @BejnXander i would love for you not to take ideas from the Simpsons and make them unfunny

  • @AsianInvazian I would love for you not to get the idea I care what you think.

  • Fun song above.

    Typical sub-human trash youtubers below.

  • My Mom got me hooked on this song.

  • @closetlette76 My mom got me hooked on heroin. Oh! and this song.

  • @closetlette76 What a coincidence! My mom got me hooked, as well!

  • @closetlette76 God bless your Mom!!

  • @closetlette76 child, stops listening to that stupid music and hit the books!

    ha ha ha

  • @closetlette76 My dad did. :P

  • Comment removed

  • @closetlette76 this song got me hooked on your mom...

  • When this song was first recorded the lead singer was so fucked up on a hit of acid that instead of In The Garden Of Eden it came out In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, The song was such a hit the band and record producers left it that way. But the song was originally supposed to be In The Garden Of Eden.

  • Even tho it goes without saying i liked this song/vid just to say FUCK YOU! to the ten people who dissliked it and its just classic

  • 10 people prefer Lady Gaga

  • @TheHeuristicIslander those 10 people should keep in mind that lady gaga was born yesterday :P

  • 27 años tengo y que buena musica awesome

  • Long live Rock and Roll!

  • After returning from Nam (1969), this was the first concert I attended--at East Carolina University. They were even better live!

  • @ksherwuker1 WELCOME HOME, my Brother. I returned from Nam in April '68, after fifteen months in country. I brought back some quality Vietnamese Herb. Me and my friend were sitting in my '57 Chevy, when we heard In-A Gadda Da Vida for the first time. There are not many words to describe the combination of feelings that the Iron Butterfly and great Sativa can do to sooth the restless Soul. I wish all my Brothers and Sisters much Love. And I pray for all to consider Ron Paul, Liberty and U.S.A

  • I listened to this while I ran/walked during the military. Sometimes the pace was a little slow, but it made you keep on going. Love it Love it Love....especially the full length version!!!! Never gets old.......

  • Ah, I can almost smell the...incense.

    Yeah, that's it, incense. ;)

  • '60's Buzz music. The keyboards, rythym and that Fuzz lead guitar are outta sight. Another bowl of hash and listening to that Lead guitar from 3:28 on makes you move up into the clouds.Oh yeah, do I remember this! A friend of mine was in 'Nam' and listenend to this while he was on guard out on the "wire" in Tay Ninh province. I asked if he threw flowers on the enemy. Ha!

  • Sorry, I'm on my son's sight - hope he doesn't mind. I'm a 50's baby and as a young kid, used to put both stereo speakers against each ear, turn the music up and listen to the drum solo pulse through left and right and back again. Classic music and brings back heaps of memories!

  • @edfgt2 me too!

  • One of the coolest songs ever love the drum solo, keyboards and even the lyrics.

  • "Thanx" major childhood memories.. Got my Mom's Lp.. "She was the best hippy rock chick Ever.. Peace.. n this drum solo... Made me wanna drum.. )0(
