Some girls do put bleach on their skin to remove dark marks from acne,mosquito bites etc. while some abuse it to lighten their skin because they don't feel accepted by society they live in or their men. O em G...Light skin girls do not have to bleach their skin. All they have to do is stay out of the sun and their skin will lighten. When people see Beyonce and Rihanna they fail to realize that in the summer they are going to be dark and in the fall, winter and beginning of spring they are going to lighten up. This happens to me. I don't bleach my skin. The sun darkens my skin for me and when it gets cold out and I cover up more my skin goes back to it's real color. Bleach is not involved.

You may think it's ridiculous but, if you check out other cultures i.e. Indian, Asian, Hispanic; you'll find that the skin bleaching phenomena is not limited to dark skinned blacks. What we would consider light skin in other cultures is considered dark and these "light skin" people do bleach. This is not to say that black Americans with light skin bleach their skin, I am saying that it is not a ridiculous thought because it can and possibly does happen.

An associate of mine, with a light completion, once said, "If I didn't have this light skin I wouldn't have anything going for me." So having a lighter completion saved her from being "ugly" because she then proceeded to state, " if I had been dark I would have been fugly." She refers to darker hues as "krispies." What got me the most is she would call her best friend's children Krispy and what not. The stupidity will never end until this wicked system does.

I get the purpose of this video...Smart of you to add your insight as a graphic designer. Some girls do put bleach on their skin to remove dark marks from acne,mosquito bites etc. while some abuse it to lighten their skin because they don't feel accepted by society they live in or their men. For some women if a man who is as black as night shows her and tells her she is not beautiful it can damage her psyche..so the problem sometimes emanates from the men too.

If it's in print...I think that the pics are photoshopped with celebs. Just like they are for wrinkles or hiding flaws or weight issues. Also, it could just be lighting in the pics too. O em G...Light skin girls do not have to bleach their skin. All they have to do is stay out of the sun and their skin will lighten. When people see Beyonce and Rihanna they fail to realize that in the summer they are going to be dark and in the fall, winter and beginning of spring they are going to lighten up. This happens to me. I don't bleach my skin. The sun darkens my skin for me and when it gets cold out and I cover up more my skin goes back to it's real color. Bleach is not involved.

Like Halle Berry, having seen her in person, she is alot lighter than she comes across on TV. And what really shocked me was when I saw Whitney houston up close in the studio. You may think it's ridiculous but, if you check out other cultures i.e. Indian, Asian, Hispanic; you'll find that the skin bleaching phenomena is not limited to dark skinned blacks. What we would consider light skin in other cultures is considered dark and these "light skin" people do bleach. This is not to say that black Americans with light skin bleach their skin, I am saying that it is not a ridiculous thought because it can and possibly does happen.

anything a woman can do to enhance her look is absolutely a positive thing...if you feel ugly, do something about it change it...first of all for a woman to feel beautiful first she must know it from within....so feeling ugly or feeling inferior to any person is a psychological complex that need to be dealt with. Men have a way of making women feel like shit, and that's where this whole problem of dark skinned vs. light skinned comes from. I am sick of the shit, really.

FYI Dominican are black. 90% of the slaves went to south america. Most men will see you as exotic. I know plenty of dark skinned females beat up on light skinned women, and cut them with razors. In all due respect bleaching creams in a term that is no longer used. Lighted skin black women as well as white women use these products as well as dark women. The purpose is to even out the skin tone and correct imperfections. Actually many products are marketed directly to white women. It is an unfortunate fact that differences have been made between light and dark black folks. The root of the problem goes back to slavery. Reseach the Willie Lynch Letter about how to control slaves.
