its a bit of a bad survey since america hasnt got fully pro teams like europe so theys comparing NFL players to what ever they have in america who are not exactly top when it comes to rugby.oh and rugby has alot of telivision rights.
And the comments about "If football players didn't wear pads then..." is basically saying that the "tackle play we Americans invented, resulted in a fair few fatalities before we decided to introduce protection". Duh ? Why not make the tackles slightly less Neanderthal and future generations of parents would not have to spend a fortune on Robo Cop armour and twee spandex panties
Sorry but American Football is ruled over by American Television Networks. I mean , you watch "the pinnacle of athletic sportsmanship" for 5 minutes, before adverts cut in, that try to make you eat dire fast foods, and drive comfy automatic cars to stop you walking anywhere. If American Football is so fantastic than why hasn't the ROTW jumped up to embrace it ? Because it's overblown tripe .
@bennett475 Idk, i reckon its more lyk a Basketball vs Netball scenario, with Gridiorn being the latter!! Lol both interesting though !! (Keep up the debate ppl, its classic readin some of ur comments lol) :D
And harder hits? wearing pads and helmets, we wear a jersey and shorts. Even though its illegal in the NFL, you still see players leading with the head (because of their helmets), we lead with all shoulders and body! Faster? you sub your whole offensive team when you lose the ball, defensive when you gain and special after a kick! you have huddles every 20 seconds. We play 80 straight, with 1 or 2 water breaks a half (30 seconds at most) and you can only sub off once with a 7 player bench! RUGBY
And who gets paid more? haha We play rugby for the passion of the game, some pro rugby players juggle part time jobs to make due with financial situations but they still play their hearts out on the field like they're earning the millions you get for only 10-20 minutes on the field. While we play 80, you play 60. While we play with 22, you play with 40-50. While we kick from the sideline, you kick straight in front. When you do one job, we do it all. Run, tackle, kick, pass, scrum, jump, catch!
@GE201011 deleting top comments that over 20 people liked? lol So I'll write it again. In rugby we play 80 minutes, 2 halves. Not 60 minutes with quarters with different offensive, D and special teams. Our players play the whole 80 with only a bench of 7 players who can only sub in once. We kick goals from all angles of the field, upto 60 metres (65yards). And athleticism? are you crazy? every rugby player is expected to jump, kick, pass, tackle, hit! We do more than one job, we do it all, RUGBY!
This is where the argument ends...If rugby players were so tough and so athletic they would try to play american football and make 4x what they are making now.
And this stupid thing that american football is soft because they where pads haha anyone who says that has never played football on a high level. if nfl players didnt where pads there would be deaths on the field. Please go watch SOUND FX
@eaglymonty05 the question is, do you know how big some rugby players are and the agression they have/ passion. Take paul o connel, he works so hard that every game he loses 5 kg in mass.
these people are morons rugby is better in everyway we hit harder and faster the guys in here think footalls tough join us on the field and youll see what a real hard hit feels like with out your pussy pads to cover you...plus im one of the few americans that has the balls to play this sport football aint got shit on rugby NZ all the way
you should make one about american football vs english football but obvisouly change all of the contacts as that would be interesting see what people say then. like if you agree
Try playing in Fucking! ZERO degrees, with ice and snow, and a rock hard frozen ground, where every little bump feels like Bombs going off. /watch?v=nRGD1_mknrI
Try playing in a tropical storm that knocked power out in 4 states and flooded cities up and down the east coast of the US. /watch?v=hB4-Ssy0iS4
Snow, Freezing Rain, Extreme Heat, etc. Outside of Lightning, NOTHING! delays AF.
football faster gameplay my ass it takes 3 hours to play a game where there is only an hour of actually gameplay, rugby its 80 minutes with rarely any stoppage time
@fftlpunkkid 80 minutes of mostly standing, walking and lightly jogging, whiles only a handfull of players are fully engaged. Rugby is full of Fucking stoppages!
ive played college level football and now play mens club rugby in the US... rugby is the only sport that made it impossible to walk after the first game... and the pads are there for protection!! to reduce impact!! i was a center in football and a tighthead in rugby and the scrum is 100 times worse than any other contact ive ever felt... dont believe me... just ask miles craigwell or any other football player that moves to rugby
This video is ridiculous, rugby is so much better in so many ways! Football stops every 20 seconds, and the players are trained to run specific plays (ie: no brains). In rugby players have to think and react during every play and in every position (not just quarter back), and they have to have stamina to last 80 min non stop. All these football time outs are just for sissies :) Last point, fans & better looking players have nothing to do with it! Rugby is way better!!
man i was blazed as a mothafucka when i answered these questions! i dont even play either ffuckin sport.. oh ya FOR THE RECORD: this is at an INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL not an American school.. in fucking switzerland basically the most unbiased country in the world. you dumbfucks.
Well no shit football players hit harder than rugby players, at least rugby players know how to actually tackle instead of running head first into someone else. Why do you see more head and neck injuries in football than you do in rugby? Learn to tackle correctly and this wouldn't be a problem anymore
They don't have a clue about rugby so how would they know anything. And rugby players don't get paid as much because they do it for the love of the game not the pay check. The NFL players had a lock out because they wanted more money, have you heard of a rugby lock out? Neither have I.
@Rugbyaddict8 Do you know what lockout means, check it out to find out how idiotic what you said really is. Remember, pro Rugby is still in it's infancy, AF has been at this since 1892. Rugby leagues and players could learn a great deal from the NFL. The integrity and love for the game is never lost, regardless of the business side. The league makes nearly $10 billion per year.
@Rugbyaddict8 Also, "Any" team in the NFL, regardless of city size, team wealth, location, etc. can rise up and become Champion, in any given year. I know that Rugby leagues cannot make that claim. Perfect example, last years Champ The Green Bay Packers, who are located in Green Bay, WI. USA, a city of 65,000, and owned entirely by the fans of the team.
@MegaCaptainfun there's running 5miles and then there's doing 5miles whilst alternating between sprinting and jogging and also getting up off the ground, tackling, rucking, mauling and everything else that's involved in rugby.
Man football players that act all ba make me laugh lol. And @Outlawzand1- I bet you $100 that if our rugby team played against your football team we would kill you. You football guys act like your all ba when you all are a bunch of pussies. You guys try sprinting for 80 minutes straight, no water breaks in between plays and only a 10 minute halftime. Football is better than rugby haahh
@TheBaller2593 Dude seriously, you havent got a fucking clue. I play both living in the UK and i love rugby, but football is at another level. And anyway, its not like your sprinting all the 80 mins, alot of the time when the balls not near you your barely move. Rugby like running 5 miles, footballs like running 20 100m sprints. Both take their toll on the muscles
@MegaCaptainfun dont talk about muscle here dumb fuck. Rugby is muscle to muscle, but what american eggball have?? metal-rubber-plastic to metal-rubber-plastic.
@11GUITARocker11 The England Rugby 7's team where gps systems during games. Most of their players regularly get above 20mph with some getting upto 24mph. To say they only do a slow sprint is just plain wrong. And the average play in football is 5 seconds not 15.
@JKTyeahPAPA Link: w w w. netball. org/Netball. aspx? id=18
To educate you, Netball, was in fact, invented by an American, in the US, through a misinterpreratation of Basketball's rules, then transported to England 14 years later.
Cuba????...Whatever! Btw, Craigwell never played in the NFL, he tried out for the Dolphins, and got cut. Yet, he was still able to play R on the international level, less than 3 months after seeing the first R match of his life. I don't care if you're 103.
@JKTyeahPAPA "its the pads and helmet doing most damage not the person its self". That is literally the stupidest think I've heard today. Say this to yourself, "It's not the MMA fighter knocking that guys teeth out, it's his gloves"....See how stupid that sounds? Here's a tip for you, stick to facts, do some checking before making comments, and dispense with emotional opinion and hearsay. Good Day!
@lifesaach Answer! watch?v=OKSmqc3eHSE , watch?v=1YkOYC2MtEE , watch?v=YNU1QzlVPxY , watch?v=7XencFuS87w Happens all the time, and once again, I'd rather a head tan a "rock hard" helmet.
@bebomac5 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLL, you're an idiot. i said do you dare to headbutt, not headbutted. the 1st, 2nd and 4th vid is headbutted, the 1'st not even in the game (you cannot say golf is a game of fist when a golfer punch his caddy). from the vid, it's only the 3rd vid you can compare to rugby players ( and that's only one in a million players in your eggball sport)
@lifesaach And there are a million more examples, as I said, it happens all the time. Do you even know what your talking about? Suggesting that getting hit by flesh and bone is somehaow worse than hard plastic and metal is a little silly, don't you think? On every single play, helmets are crashing into exposed ribs, elbows, shins, forearms, knees, backs, chins, hands, hips, thighs, etc. Imagine how that feels. Many NFL plyrs only wear helmet and shoulder pads.
@bebomac5 all the time?? if it's all the time then prove it. put down all the helmets and pads. then we will see how many of your eggball players want to play the game. one in a milllion. and i want to tell you this: why americans failed to spread this american eggball sport to the whole world while the world medias are controlled by american?? the reason is the sport is to pussy to play with masked helmet and pad.
You really are kind of dumb, sorry. Every AF player in existance has taken 100's of huge hits without pads, it's how we know equipped hits are far more devistating!
@lifesaach Historically, there's been little to no effort to grow the sport, many consider it an insult to share "our game". The NFL is really only interested in making a profit, and couldn't care less about spreading the sport, if it doesn't benefit them financially. Also, the governing body for international AF, isn't even in the US, it's in France. However despite this your belief, AF continues to grow rapidly.
@lifesaach Interestingly, one of the Aus. players in the last vid, (Jessie Williams 6'4 320lb "145kg") now plays college FB in the US, He is a DE for the Alabama Crimson Tide, who just won the national championship last week.
@JKTyeahPAPA The origins of Baseball are convoluted at best, and go back as far as 1800. The sport too inspiration from many throwing/batting/base games, including Rounders and Cricket. The developement of our sports is byproduct of our past isolation, and Thank God! for that.
You've neglected to mention our other great sports, Volleyball and Lacrosse. Did you know that Basketball, Baseball, and Lacrosse, are all more popular, world wide, than Rugby. You're not very good at this.
@JKTyeahPAPA First, let me correct you on something, Netball, most assuredly came "from" Basketball, which was first, which pretty much destroys your silly, misinformed point from the start.
Link: en. wikipedia. org/wiki/History_of_netball
You're not doing well here. While aspects of R were used in the developement of AF, it had never been seen in the US when early AF was being developed (late 1860. AF is equal parts Rugby, Assn FB, and an early form of "mob" FB known as "Ball Own".
@JKTyeahPAPA Actually, 95% of hits in AF are head on.
How do you think it feels when "rock hard" equipment crashes into exposed stomachs, backs, elbows, knees, hands, chins, thighs, ribs, shins, forearms, etc. as happens on evey play?
"cheapshot"? If a player fails to recognize when he's being intentionally set up for a crack back or a return wall, then fails to keep his head on a swivel, as he's been trained to do, since childhood, he deserves this: watch?v=kym1xC4Kx48
@azzkikr1701 Obviously you're a sport ignorant man! American Football was born from Rugby League rules, and then the pussies added pads,so I would say that Football is the gay-version of rugby.
@Outlawzand1 Why do rugby players wear those short shorts? And we wear the tight clothing because we need to be as quick as possible, unlike you rugby players who have to do a slow sprint the entire time. Sure we only go for about 15 seconds at a time, but those 15 seconds is giving every ounce of energy you have. A rugby player couldnt go as long as they do going full speed. Football is fast, powerful, and strategic. Rugby is slow, repetitive, and flat out boring.
@azzkikr1701....bring your fuckin muscular football giants too new zealand..and tell them to leave there gay fuckin pads and helments at home...will see who the fuckin gay cunts are then you smart little prick, lets hear you call O.T maori's a bunch of pussys you fuck..
@captainCanuck96 more skill? it takes a bit of skill to be able to skate fast and shoot but hardly they all just skate around knocking hell out of each other no skill needed there
lol..... all the answers to the questions for me would of been rugby, except for the good looking one due to american football wear helmets.... we end up looking like warriors with battle scars all over our bodies..... lol
@laaffytaaffy666 ...the average srum pack is about 830kgs thats,3props,2locks,2flankers and a number 8...and thats just one side, thats not counting the other team
you have to say which players get more money and who are hotter to try and beat rugby? RUGBY IS ABOUT PASSION, HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A RUGBY GAME??? IM 14 AND I PLAY UNION ITS NOT ABOUT WHO IS HOTTER OR MONEY ITS ABOUT PRIDE AND SPIRIT IF YOU CANT UNDERSTAND THAT THEN YOU ARE CLUELESS
@planefreak3 hardly, and its american football, its all about the money and the girls, there like bloody ballerina's doing fucking summersault's to the 'end zone'
first of all the guy in the check short is all wrong about rugby players because rugby have to hit harder & have to be faster too at same time the tackle maybe controled but still it's hits are like one bull cliding in to you if it's maket clear then good other wise i am sorry if it is not clear for you all & last ley rugby are not short they are all sharp & size so you decied please
Rugby league is for people who lack imagination, both Grid Iron and Rugby Union is way better. Don't think them rugby players are so small. Imagine a 2 meter giant who is also built like and gorilla pounding on you. Got myself knocked out tackling a 2 meter chap once, definitely not delightful but still holding on when I came back online and brought the sucker to a standstill. Pure luck I guess.
Its not football. Football is played in England by Arsenal and Manchester United. This is just a video of ignorant Americans. No wonder people don't like you.
American football is better than rugby union. However Rugby League is better than both put together! P.s. The guy in the yellow check shirt is definitely missing a few chromosomes!
@krz08 If Rugby fans wouldn't make such uninformed statements, it wouldn't be so easy to destroy their arguments. Here's a Linebacker, watch?v=NRF0RwiUFzg, does he look like he needs a rest? Funny thing is, although he's a good instictual LB, he's considered undersized for his position and pretty slow by NFL LB standards. Most LB's & RB's have his exact body type.
first of all the marching band is very much an american culture and shouldnt really be copied by any other country as that is special to your country and you americans. plus traditions in rugby as well been going on for 100s of years as they are both the oldest games in the world and not a lot has really changed over the years. also in every sport people know when to cheer swear and motivate the players and taught the opposition. /watch?v=gqyP8bjtjuc /watch?v=adauvRzVPwE and for the fans cheerin
@woollyg Nope, not even close, they have no bearing on the "on field" events. AF fans are involved in all facets, including making players aware of things they can't see, fumbles, passes, sackers, etc. AF is quite unique in this regard.
@bebomac5 in football people always get told where people are and where to pass you cant really see it on the videos but if you go to a game this will come clear but a game in all team sports people do tell where other players or the best pass opportunities are
yeah i watched the videos of stephen fry walking about and the other one, but how you can a post a video of rioting in your last one? the english came up with these firms like gse and other ones. plus all you do is scream whilst we have passionate songs of our clubs in both fooball and rugby, we dont need 100,000 or so people to create a great tense atomsphere we can do that with 30,000 and chant to opposing teams and our own treams.
@woollyg Chants, Songs, Clearly both exist in AF, Many are well over a century old. Btw, I've never seen an awesome marching band at a R or S match. watch?v=_DWIXie-K58, watch?v=zF0U_A30v2I. That scene has played itself out every weekend since 1887. I don't think alot of R & S fans quite grasp the scale, this spectacle happens at 100's of games on the same day, every Saturday, at small and large venues, packed to the rafters.
@bebomac5 yes it may be slightly loud but thats just people screaming being annoying, wheres the passion in that? plus rivilaries are s lot bigger in this country like the old firm, south coast derby that is on this weekend which may be on the bbc america channel so watch f you have a cahnce, manchester derby west ham milwill derby, birmingham aston villa derby and many more with rivialiers going way past before the sports began and the passion and the noise in these games are in the next level
@woollyg I see you haven't watched the vids very closely..oh well. "rivilaries are s lot bigger in this country"? Are you simply assuming? Because you obviously haven't done any checking! watch?v=AsXko1dPb9k, watch?v=M87uAU0FXcs, watch?v=vqps9WJ8Izs, watch?v=RUbNAcL2co0. Even in high school, there are bitter rivalries, spanning decades. watch?v=PkSmK1xX74k. There are literally 1000's of great rivalries in AF, neighborhood vs neighborhood, city vs city, state vs state.
@bebomac5 the fist video i went over there and poisoned two trees? watch?v=yssWV70XNbE old firm /watch?v=aWGDXKSxjn0 millwal west ham watch?v=CpvAomwMjz8 /watch?v=zKU5JeQTWg4&feature=related southampton skates and these what fierce derbys should be like and where unfortuantely people get stabbed and in worst case scenarios people have been murded as the have supported the wrong team, so i dont see how you can say that af deerbys or big compared to these in which the are many more like this.
@woollyg No one questions the great intensity and passion found in Eng/UK FB, but to suggest that this doesn't exist in AF, (like you did) is silly and untrue. Here are the 130 yr old "trees" you so snidely dismiss: watch?v=1bQBSYaKJ8E, that has happened after every win and for every celebration in the city for decades. Their quite famous here..or were before they were killed. Stabbed, murdered? not something to be proud of. Happens here to, unfortunately watch?v=kPJQA0qS5tI. Shameful!
@woollyg you severely underestimate the size of the spectacle that surrounds AF: watch?v=lDZNc9bStWE, this parade has taken place for 125 yrs. and is all for "1" FB game. watch?v=u4G-ErLjgCg. As I said, the frenzy surrounding Soccer is awesome, but don't think for 1 second that it's any less massive, passionate, historic and intense in AF. the vids I've post don't even begin to show the 100's of insane celebrations that occur every week, on every level.
@bebomac5 i for one think hooliganism is bad and people dying for supporting the wrong team is a load of bollocks and should not be muredered. and for us english our tradition is go to the pub before the game, have a drink during the game and again the pub after the game and that has gone on since one of the very first games. and aslo in boring cricket we have immense support and just look at the comments by the aussies and how good our support is /watch?v=bQvQmhn1ck0&feature=fvwrel
@bebomac5 watch?v=gtrnqL2yct8&feature=related this again is all the way in australia and the support we take even thought on the other side of the world to us is far better than any other country
@woollyg Hahaha Lol!!!! Thats an AF chant/cadance, every 7 yr old player and cheerleader learns as soon as they step on the field. AF has used it since the 1940's, it's a US Army cadance that's been used forever.
@bebomac5 i know that is an american song! what i was trying to show to you there that every sport england always provide brilliant support and this is our marching band /watch?v=PLDL32W4Xgs also americans talking about our great support in both videos /watch?v=E-8iZEukXrA&feature=related read the comments of the guy who posted the video /watch?v=skSUmIWWJ_s we also provide great entertainment /watch?v=4i-Xy-ge02g
@woollyg ???? Boxing now? I could post countless vids of frenzied American sports fans carrying on in other countries, and for many sports, so what! I'm talking about AF and Rugby only, and your apparent lack of knowlege and appreciation for AF fan's passion and dedication to their teams.
@bebomac5 no i was just trying to show that many americans think that us english do create fantastic support for what ever sport we participate in (apart from golf) and we are a dominent force in creating the best atomspheres any where in the world.
@woollyg Something you don't seem to get about AF games, is the amount participation AF fans have in the actual game. Unlike Rugby and Soccer, you can play an active role in your teams success. Simply chanting, singing and making noise is not enough, you must know how to cheer, why to cheer and most importantly, when to cheer. A good crowd can sometimes dominate an opponent. watch?v=23vMunem6nw, watch?v=FxqEX7LRLUs. In AF the crowd is Literally a part of the game.
@woollyg You clearly don't understand the sport, in both vids, the fans caused the opponent to lose. In the first vid, the QB could not audible out of the play because no one could hear him, and he ran a bad play for the situation, which was the crowds aim in that senario. In the second vid, the opponent repeatedly "false started" from being distracted by the crowd, and were push complately out of scoring range. The home team was far from distracted. this is part of their strategy.
Look at other videos, you only see like 100 people in the stadium for rugby, the only thing that gets fans in rugby is the rugby world cup. And its so funny how many rugby fanatics get so upset, things said bad to rugby. I meen come on get off of youtube trying to somehow make a point and just play the game. If you're so crazed about rugby why dont you be one of the 100 watching the rugby games in the stadium. You people just cant take a loss. Science proves football has harder hits. DONEhahahaa
american support is crap compared to english football teams and rugby teams!! and especially at derbies where they are the most tense atmosphere you'll ever see!
@woollyg You obviously have no clue. watch?v=FuPeGPwGKe8. This happens at 100's of colleges "every" Saturday. Pay close attention to the size of the crowd at tihs high school, scenes like this take place at 60,000+ high school games "every" Friday night. watch?v=_S532DlKW3Q. I'll let these LSU Tiger fans tell you what I think about you and your misinformed opinion. watch?v=zVOTheX21Ho. Nuff Said!
@bebomac5 in the first video it is a load of people shouting yeah and woooooooooo so not very much shanting compared to this watch?v=pV0CeE9cXDg and the main rivials this is what a crowd should sound like watch?v=HSLr00PUT5g
@woollyg I give you crowds of 100,000 or more, and AF high school games with as many or more people as many pro Euro Rugby matches, and you give me crap. Did you even watch the vids? Here is some more of what happens Every weekend at 100's of AF games. watch?v=HXmZCd_059I, watch?v=qJKnPLFYmkg, watch?v=rvLKszZAx4Y, watch?v=Mn_gEo7E34U. Keep in mind, these are 17-21 yr old amatuer players.
Football is better hands down. If football went up against rugby, rugby players would be tackling thin air, and getting run over. Why do you think more people watch football? People it is enjoyable! Thats why there were about 100 people watching professional rugby games!
@mrmooseattack1 Football is an English game, I think you meant to say American Football. Anyway, American Handegg is only watched in America, whereas Rugby is watched in England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy and so many other countries.
@mrmooseattack1 I'd like to know if that statistic about more people watching football counts for the whole Earth....If it's true, then please provide a source, this is no place for opinionated facts!
@mrmooseattack1 an audience of 4.5 billion cumulitave watched the rugby world cup in 2007 through tv, average of 47,000 to each of the 48 games. may not be NFL figures, but sure as hell more than 100 people watching 'professional' rugby!
McCaw, Pocock or even Dusitoir would nail football players. Professional rugby is way more world wide.
WTF American football has harder hits, thats bullshit, and there asking mostly americans, skinny white boys whom have never played either sport, and rugby theres definetly more pain, because, rugby you dont were armour, and its more fast paced, and you can only tackle the person with the ball so that persons gona get smashed by like 5 guys at once
I have never been able to watch a full american football game cause I fall asleep after every frigin play. American footballers should try playing without pads and see if they still have their so called harder hits. They'd all chicken out and slap each other instead
These questions are being asked in america, it is totaly biast. And rugby players may not be bigger generaly looking, but they definately have more raw power than the juice heads (roid heads) in america
@WelshManMrLow true, which is why Im surprised at the level of support for rugby in this video. If this was done in NZ it would be 100% in support of rugby.
In rugby we don't sit on the bench after a turnover or score, and we can only sub off once so most players play the whole 80 minutes! we don't wear helmets, padding doesn't mean anything lol we play 80, gridiron 60, no blockers when you have the ball in rugby, goal kicking isn't right in front of the goal posts, and kickers can kick the ball from up to 60 meters (65yards). Rugby players play BOTH offense AND defense!! most payed? pfft passion for the game! thats why rugby's the best!!!!!!!!! ;)
How the hell can they say American football has harder hits I've had my rubs broken in rugby and seen other people's ribs being broken and im only 15 years old and been playing fir just a year. Plus Rugby players are bloody huge The biggest player fir Scotland Is 6foot 10 inches and weighs 19stone 8 pounds !
why do you wear massive pads in american football
bsavek 21 hours ago
@bsavek because people would die every single game if they didn't. 12 died in 2011 WITH pads

TheWillsskill 2 weeks ago
This is where the argument ends...If rugby players were so tough and so athletic they would try to play american football and make 4x what they are making now.
And this stupid thing that american football is soft because they where pads haha anyone who says that has never played football on a high level. if nfl players didnt where pads there would be deaths on the field. Please go watch SOUND FX

ive played college level football and now play mens club rugby in the US... rugby is the only sport that made it impossible to walk after the first game... and the pads are there for protection!! to reduce impact!! i was a center in football and a tighthead in rugby and the scrum is 100 times worse than any other contact ive ever felt... dont believe me... just ask miles craigwell or any other football player that moves to rugby
fatboy5006 1 month ago
@fatboy5006 Craigwell has express several times that the contact in football is harder.
bebomac5 1 month ago
This video is ridiculous, rugby is so much better in so many ways! Football stops every 20 seconds, and the players are trained to run specific plays (ie: no brains). In rugby players have to think and react during every play and in every position (not just quarter back), and they have to have stamina to last 80 min non stop. All these football time outs are just for sissies :) Last point, fans & better looking players have nothing to do with it! Rugby is way better!!

Well no shit football players hit harder than rugby players, at least rugby players know how to actually tackle instead of running head first into someone else. Why do you see more head and neck injuries in football than you do in rugby? Learn to tackle correctly and this wouldn't be a problem anymore
thegarden92 1 month ago
They don't have a clue about rugby so how would they know anything. And rugby players don't get paid as much because they do it for the love of the game not the pay check. The NFL players had a lock out because they wanted more money, have you heard of a rugby lock out? Neither have I.
Rugbyaddict8 1 month ago
@Rugbyaddict8 Do you know what lockout means, check it out to find out how idiotic what you said really is. Remember, pro Rugby is still in it's infancy, AF has been at this since 1892. Rugby leagues and players could learn a great deal from the NFL. The integrity and love for the game is never lost, regardless of the business side. The league makes nearly $10 billion per year.
bebomac5 1 month ago
@Rugbyaddict8 Also, "Any" team in the NFL, regardless of city size, team wealth, location, etc. can rise up and become Champion, in any given year. I know that Rugby leagues cannot make that claim. Perfect example, last years Champ The Green Bay Packers, who are located in Green Bay, WI. USA, a city of 65,000, and owned entirely by the fans of the team.

TheBaller2593 1 month ago
@TheBaller2593 Dude seriously, you havent got a fucking clue. I play both living in the UK and i love rugby, but football is at another level. Cuba????...Whatever! Btw, Craigwell never played in the NFL, he tried out for the Dolphins, and got cut. Yet, he was still able to play R on the international level, less than 3 months after seeing the first R match of his life. I don't care if you're 103.

bebomac5 1 month ago
@bebomac5 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLL, you're an idiot. i said do you dare to headbutt, not headbutted. the 1st, 2nd and 4th vid is headbutted, the 1'st not even in the game (you cannot say golf is a game of fist when a golfer punch his caddy). from the vid, it's only the 3rd vid you can compare to rugby players ( and that's only one in a million players in your eggball sport)
lifesaach 1 month ago
@lifesaach And there are a million more examples, as I said, it happens all the time. Do you even know what your talking about? Suggesting that getting hit by flesh and bone is somehaow worse than hard plastic and metal is a little silly, don't you think? On every single play, helmets are crashing into exposed ribs, elbows, shins, forearms, knees, backs, chins, hands, hips, thighs, etc. Imagine how that feels. Many NFL plyrs only wear helmet and shoulder pads.
bebomac5 1 month ago
@bebomac5 all the time?? if it's all the time then prove it. put down all the helmets and pads. then we will see how many of your eggball players want to play the game. one in a milllion. and i want to tell you this: why americans failed to spread this american eggball sport to the whole world while the world medias are controlled by american?? the reason is the sport is to pussy to play with masked helmet and pad.
lifesaach 1 month ago
@lifesaach watch?v=RT9_VItJV94 , watch?v=XQfAXlDH4K4 , watch?v=Fr7SQBjMSSI.
You really are kind of dumb, sorry. Every AF player in existance has taken 100's of huge hits without pads, it's how we know equipped hits are far more devistating!
bebomac5 1 month ago
@lifesaach Historically, there's been little to no effort to grow the sport, many consider it an insult to share "our game". The NFL is really only interested in making a profit, and couldn't care less about spreading the sport, if it doesn't benefit them financially. Also, the governing body for international AF, isn't even in the US, it's in France. However despite this your belief, AF continues to grow rapidly.

You're not very good at this.
bebomac5 2 months ago
@JKTyeahPAPA First, let me correct you on something, Netball, most assuredly came "from" Basketball, which was first, which pretty much destroys your silly, misinformed point from the start.
Link: en. wikipedia. org/wiki/History_of_netball
You're not doing well here. While aspects of R were used in the developement of AF, it had never been seen in the US when early AF was being developed (late 1860. AF is equal parts Rugby, Assn FB, and an early form of "mob" FB known as "Ball Own".
bebomac5 2 months ago
Ive got a feeling the guy in the plaid shirt said football for everything
UHtiger 2 months ago
@JKTyeahPAPA Actually, 95% of hits in AF are head on.
How do you think it feels when "rock hard" equipment crashes into exposed stomachs, backs, elbows, knees, hands, chins, thighs, ribs, shins, forearms, etc. as happens on evey play?
"cheapshot"? If a player fails to recognize when he's being intentionally set up for a crack back or a return wall, then fails to keep his head on a swivel, as he's been trained to do, since childhood, he deserves this: watch?v=kym1xC4Kx48

Outlawzand1 2 months ago
@Outlawzand1 Why do rugby players wear those short shorts? And we wear the tight clothing because we need to be as quick as possible, unlike you rugby players who have to do a slow sprint the entire time. Sure we only go for about 15 seconds at a time, but those 15 seconds is giving every ounce of energy you have. A rugby player couldnt go as long as they do going full speed. Football is fast, powerful, and strategic. Rugby is slow, repetitive, and flat out boring.

first of all the marching band is very much an american culture and shouldnt really be copied by any other country as that is special to your country and you americans. plus traditions in rugby as well been going on for 100s of years as they are both the oldest games in the world and not a lot has really changed over the years. also in every sport people know when to cheer swear and motivate the players and taught the opposition. /watch?v=gqyP8bjtjuc /watch?v=adauvRzVPwE and for the fans cheerin
woollyg 2 months ago
@woollyg Nope, not even close, they have no bearing on the "on field" events. AF fans are involved in all facets, including making players aware of things they can't see, fumbles, passes, sackers, etc. AF is quite unique in this regard.
bebomac5 2 months ago
@bebomac5 in football people always get told where people are and where to pass you cant really see it on the videos but if you go to a game this will come clear but a game in all team sports people do tell where other players or the best pass opportunities are
woollyg 2 months ago
yeah i watched the videos of stephen fry walking about and the other one, but how you can a post a video of rioting in your last one? the english came up with these firms like gse and other ones. plus all you do is scream whilst we have passionate songs of our clubs in both fooball and rugby, we dont need 100,000 or so people to create a great tense atomsphere we can do that with 30,000 and chant to opposing teams and our own treams.
woollyg 2 months ago
@woollyg Chants, Songs, Clearly both exist in AF, Many are well over a century old. Btw, I've never seen an awesome marching band at a R or S match. watch?v=_DWIXie-K58, watch?v=zF0U_A30v2I. That scene has played itself out every weekend since 1887. I don't think alot of R & S fans quite grasp the scale, this spectacle happens at 100's of games on the same day, every Saturday, at small and large venues, packed to the rafters.
bebomac5 2 months ago
@bebomac5 yes it may be slightly loud but thats just people screaming being annoying, wheres the passion in that? plus rivilaries are s lot bigger in this country like the old firm, south coast derby that is on this weekend which may be on the bbc america channel so watch f you have a cahnce, manchester derby west ham milwill derby, birmingham aston villa derby and many more with rivialiers going way past before the sports began and the passion and the noise in these games are in the next level

woollyg 2 months ago
@woollyg No one questions the great intensity and passion found in Eng/UK FB, but to suggest that this doesn't exist in AF, (like you did) is silly and untrue. Here are the 130 yr old "trees" you so snidely dismiss: watch?v=1bQBSYaKJ8E, that has happened after every win and for every celebration in the city for decades. Their quite famous here..or were before they were killed. Stabbed, murdered? not something to be proud of. Happens here to, unfortunately watch?v=kPJQA0qS5tI. Shameful!
bebomac5 2 months ago
@woollyg you severely underestimate the size of the spectacle that surrounds AF: watch?v=lDZNc9bStWE, this parade has taken place for 125 yrs. and is all for "1" FB game. watch?v=u4G-ErLjgCg. As I said, the frenzy surrounding Soccer is awesome, but don't think for 1 second that it's any less massive, passionate, historic and intense in AF. the vids I've post don't even begin to show the 100's of insane celebrations that occur every week, on every level.
bebomac5 2 months ago
@bebomac5 i for one think hooliganism is bad and people dying for supporting the wrong team is a load of bollocks and should not be muredered. and for us english our tradition is go to the pub before the game, have a drink during the game and again the pub after the game and that has gone on since one of the very first games. and aslo in boring cricket we have immense support and just look at the comments by the aussies and how good our support is /watch?v=bQvQmhn1ck0&feature=fvwrel

@bebomac5 no i was just trying to show that many americans think that us english do create fantastic support for what ever sport we participate in (apart from golf) and we are a dominent force in creating the best atomspheres any where in the world.
woollyg 2 months ago
@woollyg Something you don't seem to get about AF games, is the amount participation AF fans have in the actual game. Unlike Rugby and Soccer, you can play an active role in your teams success. Simply chanting, singing and making noise is not enough, you must know how to cheer, why to cheer and most importantly, when to cheer. A good crowd can sometimes dominate an opponent. watch?v=23vMunem6nw, watch?v=FxqEX7LRLUs. In AF the crowd is Literally a part of the game.
bebomac5 2 months ago
@bebomac5 to stop a game is stupid as they are there to lift the team and not destract them
woollyg 2 months ago
@woollyg You clearly don't understand the sport, in both vids, the fans caused the opponent to lose. In the first vid, the QB could not audible out of the play because no one could hear him, and he ran a bad play for the situation, which was the crowds aim in that senario. In the second vid, the opponent repeatedly "false started" from being distracted by the crowd, and were push complately out of scoring range. The home team was far from distracted. this is part of their strategy.

SeanHickey1986 2 months ago

Nuff Said!

Football is better hands down. If football went up against rugby, rugby players would be tackling thin air, and getting run over. Why do you think more people watch football? People it is enjoyable! Thats why there were about 100 people watching professional rugby games!
mrmooseattack1 2 months ago
@mrmooseattack1 Football is an English game, I think you meant to say American Football. Anyway, American Handegg is only watched in America, whereas Rugby is watched in England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy and so many other countries.
BastardMan91 2 months ago
@mrmooseattack1 I'd like to know if that statistic about more people watching football counts for the whole Earth....If it's true, then please provide a source, this is no place for opinionated facts!
gacwalker 2 months ago

Maoriwog 3 months ago
the guy in the yellow checked shirt knows jack shit about rugby. so ignorant
IIFiReFlyz 3 months ago
that guy in the checked shirt is an ignorant american who would never say anything bad against his girlish sport :L

WelshManMrLow 3 months ago
@WelshManMrLow true, which is why Im surprised at the level of support for rugby in this video. If this was done in NZ it would be 100% in support of rugby.

This question will settle the debate: which sport drinks more beer?
vinniechan 3 months ago
In rugby we don't sit on the bench after a turnover or score, and we can only sub off once so most players play the whole 80 minutes! we don't wear helmets, padding doesn't mean anything lol we play 80, gridiron 60, no blockers when you have the ball in rugby, goal kicking isn't right in front of the goal posts, and kickers can kick the ball from up to 60 meters (65yards). Rugby players play BOTH offense AND defense!! most payed? pfft passion for the game! thats why rugby's the best!!!!!!!!! ;)
