  • RIP Phil Prosciutto...

  • If you find yourself tearing up, Just go ahead and cry! Hows that for a YOGISM

  • I had opportunity to meet Mr. Rizzuto in Brick Town where he called home in his latter years. Such a nice man, and his baseball legacy speaks for itself.

  • Yogi Berra is an American treasure! He is truly one of the greatest ambassadors our nation has ever had...

  • Rizzuto is my last name!! He is actually my Dad's Uncle's Cousin! I miss that dude:( R.I.P

  • Yogi was probably closer to Phil than anyone else in baseball, even Joe Garagiola. They were closest of friends, neighbors and business partners.

  • Yankees ^

  • Joe makes a good point. Until the 1960's, or 70's, middle infielders weren't expected to be good hitters. They were the there for defense. But Rizzuto had a pretty decent BA during his peak years.

  • My best friend is related to phil rizzuto.

  • Yogi is class. Rizzuto was class, The average working stiff could relate to his everyday stories. Torre, another class act. RIP in baseball heaven.

  • RIP Scooter

  • Very sad to see Yog lose his best friend. I can only imagine how painful that was for him. I loved watching games back in the day when I was a kid and Scooter was doing play by play. As bad as our Yanks were in the late 80's and early 90's, he always kept things entertaining. Some great summer memories of those days!:-)

  • Yogi Berra= Great Hall of Fame Catcher+Great Person in life.

Gotta love his sense of wisdom and humor.

  • Love you Yogi!

  • I just met Yogi at his museum like 2 hours ago

  • sono italiano baby 3 of the classiest guys in the game

  • As a big baseball and NY Yankees fan i had the oppertunnity alot of my life and getting to hear scooter and bobby murcer as well. Rest in peace the two Yankees for life

  • Yogi is one of the greatest players ever to play the game.Yogi is also one of the greatest people to represent the game,he is a true classic. The Hall Of Fame would not be the same without him!!!!!!!!!!

  • yogi berra is the best player of all time

  • @Yankees08Berra he doesnt even have 400 homeruns..bench was a better catcher

  • @mvp91593 Yogi won three MVP Awards to Bench's two, and Bill James said Yogi is the greatest offensive catcher in history. There's room in the Hall of Fame for both. No need to cut one of them down. This is baseball, not war.

  • @fek2000 Thank you for your comment. I am truly stunned by the viciousness of some of the comments. This generation was so.....well, every positive adjective you can name. I appreciate them for it. God bless Phil, Yogi, and the rest of this era, who thought they owed baseball.

  • phil rizzuto is so frickin awesome i love yogie to the yankees will kill everyone!

  • Yanks still the best team, even in heaven.Yankees fans never forget.

Sleep peacefully Little guy thanks for everything.

  • another YANKEE GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!

  • thanks Yogi and phil

  • I second that , Holy Cow...I had the pleasure to meet him years ago, even tough i'm a mets fan but I will always root for any NY team my grandson is a diehard yankee fan and that makes me also a yankee fan.

  • Phill RIZZUTO TOLD A GREAT STORY. about yogi playing right field near end of season whity ford trying to win #20 .with 1-0 lead in last inning yogi bats a ball over the right field wall for HR for opposite team. whity didnt get #20 THAT DAY . yoGI tells a different story that the HR went way over his head in right field. it was near end of season yanks were trying to preserve yogis knees by playing him in right field that game.

  • First and foremost, I am a fan of the game. I love the history of it. I miss playing it. All the time, when I was a kid I would play, always behind home plate cause I was too slow to do anything else.

Second, I'm a Cubs fan. Proud of it no matter what. Thats just me.

Third, I have a lot of respect for the Yanks, especially during Yogi's era. All the great Yanks like Yogi, Whitey, Don, Phil, Roger, Moose, Elston, Billy and especially Mickey. Man, thats a great lineup.

    I love this game.

  • this video is pretty sad, but its an honor to be related to scooter. R.I.P

  • God bless Yogi Berra. He played it the way it should be played. My favorite Yankee. Love seeing him at The Stadium during Old Timers' Day.

  • OMFG PHIL RIZZUTO DIED?! he was a good ss and a very nice person. omg i didnt know he died.

  • Like Casey Stengel (possibly the greatest manager in history ((only Weaver and McGraw to contend with )) ) said, i never play a game without my man, meaning Yogi. Yogi was the most important player the Yankees had... why do you think he was part of more WS wins than anybody else?

  • geez, media. back off Berra!

  • lamehem :)?

  • players today are not as close as they were 40 or 50 yrs ago,, i dont think we will see any close friendships like these guys had

  • wow you gotta be kidding me

  • i agree, but a lot of guys should not be in like bill mazeroski, and i dont like ozzie smith being in, he was a one dimensional player, i would put tim raines in over ozzie smith, Phil got a lot of support and so many people were campaigning for him

  • ted williams said if we had rizzuto we would have won

  • And if ANYONE had Yogi, they would have won. I love Yogi Berra. His picture should be in the dictionary for "ballplayer".

  • He was good, not great.

  • yogi or phil? I agree that phil was nothing special, but Yogi is one of the best catcehrs ever to suit up.

  • you gotta be kidding

  • you gotta be kidding me

  • what do you mean? How can you doubt that Yogi Berra is one of the best catchers in history?

  • i really do think that he is the best catcher ever i just got his autograph yesterday my friend was the bat boy at the spring training game and he got his autograph for me i gave it to my other friend though because his grandfather is dying of cancer and he started crying i felt so bad and that ball meant alot to me but i had to give it to him

  • i'm a tiger fan first and a red sox fan second but i loved phil and yogi's stories

  • GAYGORILLAMAN.....You are the gay one here! Phil rizzuto was a great player! He was a good guy and WILL NOT be forgotten!

  • sorry force283 I think I got a little mad there! Sorry about that!

  • He's in the hall of fame because he was fortunate to be on great championship teams. He might be the least deserving person in the hall of fame. Anyone who disagrees is obviously biased.

  • he wasn't fortunate to be on a great team because he was one of the great members on those teams

  • but it's true that he really was not all that impressive

  • as casey stengel would say you can look it up (yogis world series and big game statistics)

  • Force283 your an a-hole Phil Rizzuto was a great player! How dare you say that! I bet your a Red Sox fan! WEll you know what they are horrible and they will never be as good as the Yanks cus they s**k! Yeh that's right they s**k! Don't even try to leave a comment know buddy cause u are so rude you little idiot!!!

  • Ted Williams was quoted as saying that the difference between the Yankees and the Red Sox of the 40's and 50's was...........................Phil Rizzuto!

In other words Williams believed that if the Sox had had Rizzuto, then the Sox would have won all those pennants. Rizzuto was also an MVP one year.

  • Ignorant big mouth: The Scooter was a legend, and a humble and kind man. He gave a lot of charity and never craved the limelight.

  • is that why hes in the HOF. you're an asshole.

  • you have no clue what you're talking about

  • The world lost a great person in the Scooter.

  • i have had the pleasure of meeting yogi many many times and he treats you as the most important person in the world even though you are a regular joe and he is always nice to everyone! and i mean everyone. what a beautiful man.

  • I liked holy cow better the first time i heard it from harry caray

  • classless midwesterner. here's a tribute to rizutto and you say this?

  • R.I.P. Scooter. You finally got to meet the holy cow!

  • We'll miss you Phil. Scooter was a true Yankee.

  • Yogi is a class act. Great man and one of the best catchers ecer

  • i bet u gman is black

  • I am glad the yankees are waring a number 10 patch on there sleeves for the rest of the season

  • Well that's not very nice! :(

  • I AM a HUGE Yankee fan. Just in case people got confused :/

  • qman66. You are NOT a nice person. Yogi Berra is NOT gay and old. Well, he may be older than some people in the world, but he's NOT gay. And, Joe Torre is not a ****. Even if I was not a Yankee fan, which I AM, I would still be sad. The guy who commented below me said the right stuff. Phil will be missed. R.I.P. Scooter. "Holy Cow!" Sorry that this comment is so long.

  • qman66, you are a dirty stupid fucking monkey who should be lynched. fuck you.

  • I'm a life long Mets fan. I am also a life long Yankee hater. Despite it all, I am saddened by the passing of this personable, lovable baseball legend- what can you say about a man like Phil Rizzuto that can cause even this Yankee hater to bow his head in respect? R.I.P. Scooter.

  • hey qmann66 have a good time in hell.....we love you phil rizzuto....honored to say i met him as a young boy.

  • hey gman66 how would you like a knuckel sandwich you stupid, useless, good for nothing fuckhead

  • :-(

  • The comments by both Yogi and Torre are just wonderful.

  • gman66 Yogi and phil were close

  • Fuck You

  • Hey gman66 you are a moron who knows nothing. Get a life you dweeb.

  • i never got the oppurtunity to watch the scooter play or hear him broadcast. but i just know that he was an amazing person, RIP phil. everyone misses you greatly

  • I remember first hearing his broadcast in 1977-78 when I was 7-8. He was one of the first teachers I ever had preaching the fundamentals of baseball. While my playing career ended when I received my H.S. Diploma, I will teach my son what he taught me.

    Rest In Peace.

  • Holly Cow! I will miss you Phil. God bless you. From a Yankee fan who saw you since he was a boy.

  • Phil take care buddy!!

    You will be missed.

  • I spent my childhood listening to Scooter on WPIX; he was the greatest and he'll be missed... From a Red Sox fan in Costa Rica.

  • Yeah me too

  • So did I.

He made the games fun to watch because you never knew what he was going to say. You always anticipated him to say "Holy Cow!!!"

Lemme tell you, there will NEVER EVER be another quite like the Scooter.

This is coming from the heart of a die-hard Yankee fan.

  • RIP Phil!
