Try to get a copy of 'Bird Talk' magazine or go to a bird show if there is one nearby. Both are good places to find names of budgie breeders. The Budgerigar Society has an online website. There are other breeders with web sites. Look around.

The chicks need at least five weeks and sometimes up to seven weeks before they fledge and begin to feed themselves properly.

When the babies are weaned, they go to their own cage. They don't need the vet unless they get sick. These babies never got sick; and are now 2-years-old.

You will need an extra cage. Take the mother bird out when she starts getting angry at the babies. Leave the father with the babies; and he will feed them until they can eat by themselves. Then take out the babies away from their father when they are eating well; and put the mother bird back in with him. That will save you all the work.

Give your budgies hard-boiled egg (20 minutes boiling) and grated carrot every day plus their seed; and they will most likely take good care of their babies.  I fed these babies because there were six of them; the parents fed the first two just fine.

If your pair is an isolated pair (you have no other budgies nearby), they may not breed. Budgies like company in order to breed (like at least four or more other budgies nearby). They need the flock noise.

You have to make nice to him. Bring him a treat he likes and talk to him and sit with him until he eats his treat.  Do this every day. That's what I do if my budgie gets upset with me.

you need an ideal environment.. they wont breed unless they feel secure, happy and that the avarie is not overcrowded. Plus! if u keep disturbing their nest they will not breed either, let nature take its corse..

Your bird is acting normal. Most budgies don't like to be held or stroked once they reach adult age, though there are exceptions.  If she perches on your hand, this is good.

hey i just had birds like that and more easy way to feed them is to take the dad out and put in ONE baby bird in at a time and the mom will feed them that what i had to do for like two birds already!

You can get it from a reliable pet store or from Pet Warehouse online. It is a very good idea to have someone teach you how to hand feed a baby bird before you try it. It is not as easy as it looks. I only do it when the babies are in danger of starving, like these ones were.
