If you know the metal spawns of each map, you can save time by going to that metal spawn directly, instead of just going to the medicine cabinet. That's always saved me a few seconds or two while setting up.
Just wanna point out a few things, first, this was an empty server, real servers are hell, second, he didnt know how to jump on buildings, is called crouch jumping, third, terrible placement both times, there is a thing called a SNIPER, and also a thing called a DEMO, both would have owned him, fourth, you really don't *need* a tele right at the beginning during setup, wastes your time.
It was just a tutorial to help the new players, offcourse I know all those things you mentioned, the placing is not always that bad, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't
This works as a good basic how-to for newbies. Placement is always tricky, and it's pretty much always good to put up a tele at the start. I can only think of a few times where it's not helpful.
Hmm. Lets see. Either build your sentry faster, which the sentry will die FAST against anyone with skill, OR build a tele so your entire team can get to the frontlines faster. Such a hard decision.
I agree with all but the last one, you DO need a tele cause of your red team's long respawn time and walking distance, I feel that teleporters are just as important as sentries as they give a constant supply of reinforcements to prevent the bue team from capturing the point.
@blahboy335 ALWAYS build a teleporter entrance at the beginning of a round. It may waste your time, but it shaves a lot of time off for the rest of the defending team.
It's very important to note that as an Engineer, you should never worry about taking the huge ammo crates for metal. During setup, DO NOT EVER wait for your dispenser to supply you. It takes too long, leaving you with a level 1 sentry when the round starts. No other class needs ammo packs as much as the Engineer - all other classes can restock on ammo from a dispenser in a matter of seconds, while Engineers take ages to get their metal from them.
sadly, many people actually need this. for those who are too lazy to read the description. ITS RIGHT-CLICK TO ROTATE BUILDINGS. The only thing I would disagree on is how you built your stuff. If possible abuse ammo packs for metal. You're going to need the dispenser metal when the ubers come.
All wrong except for the start build a dispencer and while it builds get metal and build a sentry, and upgrade with ammo boxes not your dispencer use that for when you get attacked and when everyone on the other team is dead or the coast is clear then build an exit or if an uber comes in and you dont hink you will survive.
Instead of whacking the Dispenser waiting for metal take the 200 ammo pack and immediately start building your Sentry, building goes much faster that way.
Don't need a dispenser here.

why dont you make the sentry at spawn then carry it?
Advisorbuggy 9 months ago
@Advisorbuggy couldn't do that three years ago (Video was made on May 26, 2008)

heavy medic combo would destroy that sentry before level 2, but still, a good tutorial :P

You should make a tutorial for all the levels.
