@miroberlinberlin It's only acting as a MIDI controller. Those sounds aren't actually from the MiniMoog - they're probably from some program or something. So it can control polyphonically, but the actual synth can only play monophonically.
Is there no light source behind the dials? This would suck if true...
All of my gear has enough lighting behind the lcd's and knobs so I don't have to use "ugly lights". I just can't seem to find any vids or pics with back lights...
Can this create an organ sound well? Want a brand new ANALOG organ but there aren't any brands selling electronic organs that have analog technology for the unique rich sound
@BuyBenco Most polyphonic synths can make an organ sound, but if you want an emulation you will have to go digital. Btw using words like "unique" and "rich" are buzzwords which mean next to nothing.
MONOPHONIC....... - thats it. I'd rather prefer polyphonic! ...with more functions, like vocoder, sample playback, real choir vocoding etc. But this one is so limited - My V Synth Gt has way more functions then this one -"kids entertainer"
@tionik06 The Minimoog is the reason why the sounds from this century exist.....SOOO Many keyboardists in the R&B realm especially use this for Synth Bass
It's monophonic, but you can set other oscillators to different pitch values, for example, OSC1 would play a perfect fifth above the played note. All that monophonic means is that it can only interpret one note at a time.
Is it finally polyphonic or is at also monophonic? because on the Moog web-site it says that its monophonic, but here guy is playin' chords on it... im totally confused now
Nice work from the Mad Scientists at Moog !!! I have a Voyager & Etherwave Pro and love them. The backlighting makes it the most beautiful stage synth ever. Why don't you backlight the XL? Also an internal effects section might be one of the best things you could include. ~ Thanks
With ARP long gone, only MOOG is still here to carry forward the rich analog synthesizer sound that defined music during the 60's, 70's and 80's.
With addition of modern MOOG synthesizers like the new Voyager XL and the integration of Moog Apps on Cell Phones, we have all the tools we need to express ourselves tonally in a world where we are now only limited by our experiences, emotions and imaginations!
I can't wait to hear the new music and sounds we can now create with these amazing tools!
@DocRobotKey Id love to have a new Arp 2600. or an old one if i can find one for a price that I can afford. To me analog will forever have a place in music, even though digital also has its place, having spent years with it, its still something I cant fully warm up to
these introductory videos nowadays never feature anything musically adequate, it's usually some glitchy tweaky distorting nonsense showing off the modulation capabilities and what not..
but man, I think that tune from 3:00 is actually dope as hell, if the guy would tighten up that beat and cut the whole thing to vinyl I'd play that tune!
As fixed-arch synths go - it's positively *DELUXE*
But it's not modular... just like a 2600 or M5 is not. Rather; it is patchable.
The XL doesn't quite get there, though - a 2600 has independent osc output waves and flexible FM, hi/lo freq per osc and has a full Sample& Hold.; Voyagers are quite limited in that regard and many others, at least compared to a 2600 - let alone a full modular synth. But still the V's an easy path to many fat sounds!! My voyagerOS isn't leaving me anytime soon :).
The hole place looks like jewelry, I imagie some random (ham)burglar getting inside that pplace and he'll be like "what the hell is this place" but if we as people who have soundgasms with this things is like nirvana...
@Geeljasjes - When I registered my LP, I asked them when they were going to release a poly. I (and the rest of us) are still waiting. C'mon Moog - is there one in the pipeline?
This is why I cry because I'm poor.
