@GreatDylan420 Probably because you like their young rocker albums or their laid back acoustic songs. This album was just to show off how badass Mike Campbell is. This, my friend, is a blues album. Although, it is nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2011 Grammys. They deserve it if you ask me.

It's not like Petty has spent a career sounding like Zeppelin (or singing like Plant, haha). He just tried a different sound here and let the boys play, and play they do...of course Campbell has been underrated for 35 years, and he's amazing.

@GreatDylan420 Oh, also "The Trip to Pirate's Cove" from this album, made 29 out of 50 in Rolling Stone's singles list of 2010. Coming before the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and Jakob Dylan. I just love Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! Damn the Torpedoes reissue/deluxe edition was rated 4 1/2 stars in Rolling Stone as well. Great GREAT reissue. Amazing never heard tracks.

For twenty-five years living in Houston, I saw every TP show in that town. EVEN the one he played at Astroworld's Souther Star amphitheatre with Bob Dylan. Just came back from five years out of the country during which time I missed two shows here. Due to a sorry set of circumstances, I'll miss another one tonight in Houston.
