This really is a brilliant documentary, and much props to the the talent of Thatcher; she may have been a bit delusional, but her genius intellect was without doubt.
I must ask... what's up with the fluttering eye lids? If any politician did that in the US he/she would be toast. It truly does come off as profoundly condescending. I'm not saying that was her intention, so what was the deal?:
Watching not just this documentary, but all portrayals of the "parlimentary system" make me have even more respect for my country's democratic system. I know it's trendy to bash America (esp. before 2008), but we in the US shake our heads at the notion of electing a party that chooses the leader. And are there any term limits?? Most disturbing is to see how, when a country has 4, 5, or 6 parties, the ruling govt. often is elected with 20, 30 % of the vote, and the "scandals" become laughable.
what she says about Europe 1:30 is one of the reasons, why, despite her achievments, she remains a politicans who ended ab more or less crazed by power and misjudgment.
Very well-done, but as I am listening I did hear one chronological error so far, at 14:06. The Reykjavik Summit was actually in mid-Octoebr 1986, not November. The Geneva Summit was November 1985, the Washington Summit for the INF Treaty was Decemebr 1987 and the Moscow Summit was May 1988.
One of the best documentaries I have seen. Each side has a chance to tell it as they saw it. Very well balanced and allows viewers to draw their own conclusion. Great job by the production team.
I like her outfits from regent street! I blame her closest advisors for not having the courage to forcefully tell her -- poll tax is wrong. I feel the men around her were too deferential. She is so forceful and adamant and needed to hear from someone with as much conviction and inner steel that "madam, your poll tax will be the end of your career"
