I hate to be a dick (it's never a good sign when I have to say that a lot in one night...), but this one was pretty pedestrian. Just an internet screamer with good production values. The piano score was overbearing to the point that I thought there was supposed to be someone playing in the next room and briefly thought it would be important to the story.

Emhilradim is absolutely right, if it would've been a cat or a dog, that would have been scarier, because the moving shadow can be anything, left to the imagination of the viewer, ultimately unsure what might happen to the protagonist. A screamer is a lame attempt at horror, even if it's a high-brow screamer. I think The Alien and old-school Japanese horror is never going to be surpassed, and that makes me sad.

One of the things I need to say about the screamer ending is thus: screamers are NOT scary. They're reactive. You are not scared by them, your body reacts on impulse to try and avoid danger. That's all.

Fright is psychological. Fright is looking over your shoulder when you go from one room the other to make sure you're not being followed in the darkness, fright is the fear of going down into a darkened basement even during the day. This is not fright.
