@kristopheraugust I ALSO HAPPEN TO BE Black with lots of experience traveling the world and the US. never experienced less racism and given a fairer shake. its both economically libertarian and socially libertarian. the house of reps makes $200 per year. the same since the 18th century. they are proud of that. you serve fro u want to , not for a career. lots of young folks do it as a way of contributing to society. u must work in the real world as u serve. please send me ur email to my inbox.
I can't believe Glenn Beck is championing the philosophy of Ayn Rand while on the other hand damning social liberal's. Glenn talks about fascism as being horrible and we are on the road to it, yet Yaron Brooks is a champion of the fascist Pinochet, and the Ayn Rand philosophy put into action would develop the perfect fascist state. Objectivism is the adopted economic philosophy of satanists.
@jrmsher33 To begin with, he isn't championing her philosophy. The fact that he attributes her conclusions to "common sense" is evidence of that. Have you even read Rand? There is nothing in her writing that has anything to do with supporting fascism. Satanists? You must believe in imaginary friends that live in the sky.
I remember reading Ayn Rand's writings, back in the eighties, and I remember thinking, 'this could happen in the next hundred years or two.' Well...I was wrong, it didn't take all that long, did it. I hope there's a John galt somewhere out there who can remove all the moral minds and let the assholes suffer their fate, but I think that's wishful.
God help us...we´re leading towards socialism...we don´t need to continue this route, obviously but when bail-outs are passed, crooks are elected, and lastly we pay more attention to the ailing folk of other counteries and not HERE and why?! These videos are most important.
What do I think people should do in response to the BP Oil Spill? Don't write an angry letter to your Congressman, write a letter to your stock broker. Tell him you want to invest in a company or companies that are researching alternative fuels. Personally, my money is on algae. Or that is, it WOULD be, if I had any money.
@JETZcorp The reason BP has a bad safety record in this area is because they've turned their focus away from the petroleum industry for the last 10 years for "Green" developments. I have no doubt that was a contributing factor in this spill.
@duke1duke1 So you're saying that if BP hadn't diversified their research and focused only on petroleum drilling, they would have put more into safety in their drilling rigs? Even though they were already passing all the regulations (which of course they greased the wheels of) and were insured by the Federal Government? I don't see why they would make that investment. On the other hand, it makes a tremendous amount of sense to diversify away from a finite and publicly unpopular resource.
I used to have a lot of respect for Yaron Brook and the ARI, but every time he appears on Glenn Beck he just puts his philosophy in the province of fringe lunacy. They offered no solutions on how to solve the current problem with the oil spill. Liberals, it would seem, are on the side of finding new solutions for energy INDEPENDENCE and, in that regard, would be was to consider the motor Galt designed in Atlas Shrugged.
@jordanowen42 well i agree beck is a mystic (the concept that there is a god is just fucking crazy) !! however i disagree w/ the rest of your statements objectivism is not the philosophy of cleaning up or stopping oil leaks and dr. brook should not be explaining how to stop oil leaks!! he is saying just what needs to be said!! it's not liberals that are finding solutions for energy INDEPENDENCE it's private individuals!! i am an objectivist and i am soon 2 b living "off grid"
@carveawoodeneye That was kind of my point tho- Brook is not the one to talk about how to solve the oil disaster. There should be someone with real solutions on there rather than just having Brook wave the objectivist flag. Good luck living off the grid.
It is not philosophy's job to "find solutions" to particular problems, but to put forth the ideas that make solutions possible. And that must come first now, because we are so far down the path of ideas which make solutions impossible. Yaron does a great job of it, given the limited time he has on these shows to speak.
As for Liberals, they would try to "nationalize" Galt's motor in the name of "the public good" or "essential need". After all, who cares about HIS rights?
You're right; they're not, by DEFINITION, in favor of nationalization. But the history and progression of their actual words and actions points squarely in that direction. As evidence: GM, BP, Wall Street, the banking & financial industries, the health care, pharmaceutical & fast-food industries, on and on...
There is ample inductive evidence to warrant this generalization; they are all power-lusters (and it's not just the Left). Their ultimate end-game is dictatorship.
@Aristotle1905 Sorry I posted my response three times- didn't mean to. I don't see those industries as being nationalized because the government is intervening on the behalf of the vast numbers of people that are getting dicked over by those companies. Its not as if they're taking control of thriving companies that don't need government help/supervision.
@Aristotle1905@Aristotle1905@Aristotle1905 Actually you have absolutely no way of knowing what any particular political entity would choose to do in reality and the nature of their reality can't be based on the strict definitions defined by their opposition. The idea that liberals are, by definition, in favor of nationalizing is a bit of a misnomer, and one advocated now by the same conservatives who a few years ago defined liberals as opposed to the US government and its goals.
Western Civilization's ONLY hope is for Objectivism to take hold as the predominant philosophy; it's the ONLY one founded on reason, the efficacy of man's mind, and individual rights.
Every other philosophy, or combination of philosophies, inevitably lead to disaster. Anyone who looks at history knows this.

One day, if Objectivism continues to growing as it has in the last 10 years, it will hopefully become the most predominant philosophy in the country.
