  • WTF? Are you using a view finder to zoom in? Whats with the noise?

  • shut up

  • Report that noisy neighbor. ;D

  • An immature bird calling for food from parents - probably hatched in a building nearby.

  • left foot red band, likely a released bird

  • While working in Minneapolis on the 15th floor of a building downtown I saw a Peregrine land on the ledge outside our room. It stood there for a couple minutes before taking off, flying around for a while and then diving into a flock of pigeons. Feathers flew everywhere. An hour later it deposited the deceased pigeon on the same ledge and took off. The pigeons chest was torn wide open. The corpse sat there for two months that winter before the peregrine came back and retrieved it.

  • so beautiful *_*

  • If you think that's impressive just wait till the day you see one take down a pigeon in mid-flight. About a year ago I was on West Jefferson grabbing a dog between deliveries, close to the UPS depot (bike messenger not UPS driver btw), and while I was chomping away some pigeon took off from one of the buildings. Well it flapped for about five seconds when all of a sudden this dark streak came shooting down from the sky and WHAMMO! Never seen anything like it, mightily impressive.

  • thanks, that was great. i recently saw a peregine take down a pidgeon and drag it into a bush in Vancouver BC pretty dramatic.

  • Don't you have a dead mouse or pigeon you can give to it?

It seems hungry. Poor peregrine falcon.

  • I see these guys all the time on my way home down the 57 expwy. They looove the lampposts. There are also a few of them down in Park Forest where I live.

  • @remainingnameless I think those are red tailed hawks you see further south. Their chest is white, not like this bird.

  • what a treat for you! please check out my photos: providencefalcons-com

  • Excellent!! Amazing footage. I've been trying to spot a Peregrine in Chicago for some time now. I'll have to check out the Chicago Peregrine Falcon Blog mentioned above. I've seen many other types of Hawks in parks around town, but never a Peregrine.

  • Fucking lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ima buy a Condo downtown when I get rich... and hope I see a peregrine

I've only seen one at Albany Park eating a squirrel or something.

  • The fledgling with leg band 08 is from a nest at 5821 North Broadway. See the Chicago Peregrine Falcon Blog for more details.

  • Oh wow! Thanks for the info! That makes sense because that building is very close to here. I can see it from my window.

  • It's a peregrine falcon --- Likely a fledgling.

Consider yourself lucky to have this opportunity.

  • Thank you for the ID! I didn't consider that it could be a peregrine falcon because the map I saw said that they don't live anywhere near here. But after further research I now see that there are some peregrine falcons living in Chicago. Very cool!

  • If you look closely you can see that the bird has 2 ID bands on its left leg.

  • @ChicagoHawkWatcher I noticed that too
