and 2) is Emerson.... I appreciate the mystique and the ruggedness of the blades, but I personally just don't think you get enough from the finished product to justify the price. To be totally honest, I think a lot of that is because I really hate the chisel grinds. I wanted you to respond JT with the reasons you like the Emerson and or Strider knives so much and why your willing to overlook the asking price to obtain so many. I'm a huge fan of your vids, no Trolling going on, just really wonder

@pmprydr ...now same thing with Emersons. His blades were used and sought after by the Special Warfare community. Ernie was there in the late 80's when he helped define what a tactical knife should be. His CQC-7 has been copied by many other companies. Compared to other companies his is still like a small business he's not mass producing knives for the sake of profit.

Websites list his knives but, are usually out-of-stock. he makes his knives in "runs." Ex: CQC-7, CQC-8, then CQC-15, etc

@pmprydr ...other companies may use the same materials...154CM, G-10, Titanium, etc. but, they don't have the customer base and production quality developed over years of service. Same thing goes for Strider!

Emerson and Strider knives demand respect and/or price. You think $300 for an Emerson or $500 for a Strider is crazy. I'm planning to buy a custom Emerson CQC-7 or Commander and will happily pay the $1500 price tag...lol!

I know you're just asking. You either get it or you don't.

Ok please understand I'm not being negative or saying this in a negative way at all. I think your knife and gun collection is tremendous and you obviously know your stuff. With that said.... When building my knife collection over the years there are 2 brands of knifes that forums people seem to love that I always thought of as being very overrated or overpriced for what you actually get. The 1) is Strider knifes. I think they are cool, but not even close to cool enough for what they are priced

@pmprydr ...okay no problem. 1st off there's pride of ownership...something intangible and hard to explain. It's like how I usually buy only Oakleys, Sony, or Nike. Sure it's name brand but, base on a quality product that doesn't fall apart in a year or two.

All Striders are CUSTOM a lot of hands on work (shaping, grinding, etc.) are done to create those knives. It's broken done to (2) types catalogue ($300-$550) and non-catalogue (over $550)...MSC & DDC. Striders are built like TANKS!

@TheWestboom ...Emerson liner-lock is rock solid. I've carrying Emersons since the early 90's without any malfunctions. But, liner-locks, frame-locks, etc...also tend to be a personal preference. JT
