  • I love the drivers true and distinct .. Brutal honesty.. He conveys what a true drivers car is.. Fun to drive with flair.. I'm getting one some day

  • cooper s works is too expensive...with the same money i can buy a focus rs!

  • i like top gear,very good program !!!

  • @rostant999 Funny how Germany didn't make the car

  • fuck u all and i want buy that thing

  • I don't know about the jcw engines, but I got a mini and I'm pretty sure that it's running a tri tec engine same as Peugeot so maybe not uk made, but all minis are made in Oxford, I could be wrong

  • Does the Italian job have this or the model S?

  • one of the best things BMW ever did, was the Mini

  • What more possibly I want? Paddle shifters.

  • the awkward moment when the two comments are exactly the same.....

  • The Italian job!!!!

  • funny how germans make the best british cars

  • @rostant999 The germans doesen't make the best british cars they just got more factories.....dumbass.

  • @MovingMud mini's name is british everything else is BMW and iworks really good. rolls and aston martin are german too. rover died or became chinese and then died. vauxhall is GM rcyling Opel. does ford make cars in the UK anymore - their best cars are designed in germany (fiesta, focus) jaguar & rover is indian owned after the Americans (Ford) sold them - TATA doesn't design the cars but are doing a good job turning it around - like they did with Briih Steel (Corus). so what were you saying???

  • @rostant999 Tata killed corus.

Most of the cars may be of German origin but you will find a lot of British engineering expertise in the design and manufacture process.

  • @Cafferssss bristish steel was dead decades ago. tata just bought the corps

  • @rostant999 Mate..your full of rubbish

  • @rostant999 The Germans don't make it and it's actually the British who make the best German cars.

  • mini was designed in germany and whee did the engine come from? they just asemble it in the uk but that is for political reasons. german workers would build it better but british people would take a fit. actually the biggest uk car maker is the london cab company with a design that looks from the 50s.

  • @rostant999 The car is designed, engineered and built in the UK. UK jobs, UK tax. If BMW want to put money into it then thanks for the cash Germany. The UK produces more cars than Italy and there's a British designed and built car to top just about every car category. Let's not mention the UK's total dominance of F1 either LOL.

  • @rostant999 How can u say that, the MINI is designed and built in the UK. Yes some parts are common with BMW's and yes it was developed by BMW employees but in the UK. That's like saying India makes Jaguars

  • @rostant999 Funny how the germans had to buy something british so they could be part of some decent history ;)

  • @booker90 min had history and died. you saying porche and mercedes and vw dont have descent history? look what happened to rover and all those other brands from british leyland

  • @booker90 They wanted to show them how its done

  • Woo hoo ! I love mini coopers!

  • I would love to try out an R53. Looks fun as sin.

  • is the mini cooper considered a sports car?

  • Comment removed

  • @isaacpatrick777 Hatch or "Hot hatch"

  • @isaacpatrick777 On my insurance its considered a sports car. And I beat a Mustang 5.0 in my 2006 JCW. ;)

  • @isaacpatrick777 well the mini cooper "S" and the jcw are. s means sport. so yes

  • lol the steering wheel's on the wrong side of the car

  • @MrAnonymousPoster

    Just trolling or really stupid?

  • /watch?v=39MbMOdJ4MU

  • Oh forgot to add my only drawback......the bloody runflat tyres! MINI/BMW should have chose a non run flat like the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A for the JCW editions at least.

  • You could tell he loves the supercharger sound. I think he would love the 05-06 MINI JCW even more.

  • I trust Jeremy Clarkson's reviews on cars because he not only drives awesome cars but also adds brutally honest opinions!

  • I used to own a similar model. That supercharger whine is absolute bliss and the thing is practically glued to the road, you can really throw it into corners. If you're in the market for a hot hatch, you'll not find one that's more fun than this.

  • i want one in forza now

  • @theamazinbagman i want one in gran turismo now

  • this car has style, very nice

  • Great mini..

  • keep pressing 4 to see jeremy beatbox

  • Pause and click on 1:12 His Face

  • @gingercollins1912 hahahaha nice

  • I like fiat more

  • Is this a hatch

  • that interior is terrible!!! haha

  • Mini is really amazing, but this one is best.

  • what season was this??

  • @dltafrc17

its from a dvd called "clarkson: shootout".....from 2003 i think

  • My neighbour was the 1 who worked on this car. john s works.

  • @yardobeef13 it was in response to the question about the john cooper works, which is what this video is about. Not the normal mini cooper. The cooper works is manual only.

  • T_T I wish we had cars this good for 18k. Coopers usually start at about 40k.

  • Classic Mini Cooper = Epic.

Modern Mini Cooper = Meh... :/

  • Astrid9017.... I completely agree... It's been my favorite car for my whole life

  • oh my God, give me money to buy one like this please please please!

  • nothing can beat the classic mini

  • @byniabynia My husband who is 6'5" and I both fit comfortably and fit our luggage for a week long trip in my '09 mini convertible and those have even less room!

  • @SuperShortErika im 6 foot 1 and i find the car beyond fustrating to be in..

  • @MTLbigJ then you never actually been in one. I'm 6 foot 3... 245 lb football player... and have the most fun in the world driving one... comfortably

  • @isntherbcool but do you have to pull the seat back, if so, how far back?

  • @isntherbcool ive never been in one? my mom owns a 2005 with the piece of crap automatic CVT. Luckily for you, i just retook my height.I am now 6 foot 3 and wiegh 205 pounds. i am 20 years old, just turned it today actually, and i drive this car when i am forced to (being a university student means i cant afford a car). ever time i get in i have to sit hunched down and seat all the way back, leaving literally no room in back. i also drive a dodge magnum, very comfy, but im glad you can enjoy it

  • @MTLbigJ that's pretty strange that you have to sit that uncomfortable my cousin has a 2003 mini that he drives every day and he is 6'7" and i my self have a 2008 jcw and i'm 6'0" and there's always plenty more room in the seat directly behind me for a passenger

  • @guitarteacher1993 i can make a video response if you want...

  • @MTLbigJ well me "Herbert Law" and my friend "Berend Weijs" feel free to google us... he's 6 ft 10... have no problem fitting in a mini. we take his out all the time for joy rides. the front seat goes all the way back. and who cares about your magnum? that piece of shit car. I have E320... thats comfortable. but it doesnt negate the fact that mini still fits ppl way bigger then your little ass

  • Insurance must be threw the roof on that thing

  • @minimontager94 its not to bad i pay like $194 a month for full coverage ( liability, comp. and collision, pip, etc.) on my 08 JCW and i'm only 17 about to be 18

  • i might get a cooper, wonder if they are good for long road trips cause ill prolly have to take a few for my job

  • @Byniabynia I've got an '06 Cooper S, and it's perfectly fine on road trips provided you're by yourself. Lots of room and very comfortable seats (I should probably mention mine are the leather variety).

  • @Byniabynia I've got a Cooper S bought in the UK, but I live and work in Kyiv. First trip out (3000km); went with a mate (2m tall) + all our luggage and we had no problems. He drives an Audi A4 estate & said there was more room in front & it was more comfortable the A4. I've since done several return trips to/from the UK, & shorter trips from Kyiv to Prezmysl in Poland (1300km return) with the latter on the terrible Ukrainian roads. Been a hoot! Buy one, you won't regret it.

  • @iamaweasel thanks

  • Here in Brazil it costs R$148.500,00, something around 60000 pounds.

  • @ColeSpaulding20 more like 30k in the US

  • Mr.Bean has an Old Mini cooper!

  • I would honestly buy a car based on Clarkson's review

  • jeremy like mini coz handwork by britain

  • My wife has a Mini, regular Mini. She still gets perma-smile when she takes a nice corner or shifts :)

  • mini cooper SS

  • great car! I love minis, compact small car originated in UK and German engineering combined = winning recepie

  • im learning in a mini d 1.6 turbo - its mental!

  • @Chompyt so am i! mini D diesel yeah? pretty fast for what it is :-)

  • Its totaly not worth it.Such a small car , so much money for a hidious dash, and space to fit two shopping bags, endless understeer. and besides that .dont you just feel sorry seeing a guy in a haidressers car.

  • @Brainiac83 Check out the website Mini.com the John Cooper works Minis are really nice. They have decent Hp but with a Turbo Cold air intake headers and exhaust they will be insane. I like them because they aren't that expensive (38,000 fully loaded) and they have build quality of BMW.

  • @Brainiac83 its really not that small on the inside and it has a ton of cargo room for such a small car can easily hold two golf bags and 2 suitcases and the dash really is a work of art and to say it has endless understeer is just a stupid uneducated comment you clearly have never driven one if you think this is the case

  • I know it's as english as a bratwurst :D :D :D

  • This is from Top Gear .... I love the show and own a Mini Cooper S .. Love it

  • @Roaddawg2476

Hi I am torn between the Works and the S models. Is yours automatic or manual? What are your favorite features? Thanks for the help. Chicago, IL

  • @Cooper1970 , the John Works package is pricy. I've had a regular mini and I love the S I have now. 6 speed manual is the only way to go. You're looking about 40 hps more with the works and it has plenty of bells and whistles. I upgraded my intake and pulleys for far less then it would have costed to buy the Works packages. If you have a good mechanic and like hunting for gear on the net you can find everything you need for about 3 -5 grand cheaper.

  • @Roaddawg2476

Thanks for the insight!!! I can't wait. Perfect city driving.

  • @Roaddawg2476 Alternatively you can buy a 1 year old JCW well under warranty for basically the same price as a Cooper S. The differences between the S and JCW are significant; upgraded turbocharger, pistons, clutch, brakes, transmission. The electronic limited slip dif is very customisable in the JCW, it's not even standard on the s. You cannot make all those changes (not including the aesthetics) for 3 - 5 grand cheaper.

  • @Roaddawg2476 whats the difference between the S and JCW? is the JCW just beefed up and such?

  • @CASSINOx the JCW package is the full bells and whistles package for the mini cooper word. Better pistons, pulleys , air intake and more. Yes its "beefed up". If you are gear head and like having a choice of how to upgrade your Mini , I'd go with an S and do it yourself. But if you want to just get the top of line "everything" go with the JCW package. My Mini S stock has 172hp and JCW has 205 hp. After changing the pulleys and adding a cold air intake I'm around 196 hp. Costed me 600

  • What series is this from?

  • i hate the new one .

  • The MINI is the most fun car in the world!

  • Great car, but I freakin hate that dash, especially the giant speedometer over in the middle of it... WHY? Its totally hideous to me.

Also, repairs are extremely costly. The news actually did a report on cars to stay away from for reasons unknown to the general consumer. The mini was at the top of that list. They found out that replacing simple parts of the body like a bumper or fender was incredibly expensive and that fact completely killed the value of the car.

  • @GeneralHoohah , they did that so that they could change it out from left hand drive to right hand drive. Trust me, it took 10 mins to find the hood latch on our left hander :)

  • @raypettit74 The problem with hideously expensive replacement parts still kills that car, and I don't care what the excuse is... the dash is still hideous. Its also dangerous. The reason the gauges are behind the steering wheel is so you only have to take your eyes off the road for a split second to check them. Putting it somewhere over to the right is dangerous, and forces you to take your eyes off the road longer.

  • @GeneralHoohah It isn't like there is 1000 other distractions far worse then taking an extra second to look over. You may never touch your phone when driving, or eat, or change the radio station, but 1/4 of the people you pass are probably looking down at their phone. If you drive often enough you can feel what speed is what.

  • @GeneralHoohah I don't know about older MINI's, but I know the second edition (2007+) have the digital speed readout inside the tachometer. There isn't really any reason to look at the center speedo if you don't want to.

  • @GeneralHoohah the drivers speedo is in the tachometer right in front of the drivers eyes the reason there is a speedo in the middle is because it was meant to be a tribute to the old mini when they first started doing rally they didn't have a whole lot of funds so they took people out on tours in their rally cars and installed a center speedo so people could see how fast they were going on the tours

  • thought I forgot to post LOL

  • holy fuck clarkson with hair...

  • @JmChadillonProduct should watch one of his 1990s motoring dvds where he has a jewfro.

  • I was tricked! The title suggested that there was a Mini in this video :(

  • can u have an automatic shift in the john cooper works or does it have 2 be manual?

  • @RAMJAWZ it only comes in manual.

  • @skltr21 thank god for that!

  • @skltr21 False. I have a mini myself and it is standerd automatic with the option to switch it over into manual at any time.

  • @YardOBeef13 The mini cooper s came with a 6 speed manual as standard. You would be mad to go for an automatic whichever way you look at it. Also anyone who slates a jcw mini, hasn't driven one..

  • @YardOBeef13 Hardly manual. If it has a torque converter it can never actually be a manual no matter what the marketing people tell you.

  • @skltr21 it would be foolish to have it any other way. sort of defeats the purpose of what mini is about.

  • @RAMJAWZ I'm sure it does come in manual, but there isn't much point in getting a higher performance car if you can't utilize all the performance (i.e. controlling how much power you have through shifting the gears yourself)

  • @RAMJAWZ I don't think there's much point in getting a car like this in automatic...

  • @RAMJAWZ a JCW only comes stock from the factory in manual however that doesn't mean you can't take an automatic mini cooper s or mini cooper and have a JCW kit put on it which would then make it a JCW

  • no small size car can touch the Mx5 when it comes to handling.

  • @cubano1389 i thought the same thing until i drove the mini don't get me wrong the mx-5 is one of the best handling cars on the market but the mini has it beat by just a little bit i've driven both and i admit it's a close call

  • wtf @ subtitles :S

  • My astro van would stomp this hunk in a drag race

  • @sirlonghair you have a very two dimensional understanding of motoring if you're bashing the mini for not being quick in the quarter. it was not built to be fast in a straight line, its built to be a street legal go kart. it handles on rails and Im sure its quite the contended on any technical courses.

  • @AlexanderBlueAvenue yea but all I ask for is it out accelerate a VAN with a V6 for Christ sakes lol

  • @AlexanderBlueAvenue Absolutely right!

  • @AlexanderBlueAvenue handle on rails???? ur dreamin

  • @tkcwu no, it actually does handle superbly

  • @sirlonghair There's a name for your condition. It's called retardation. It shouldn't be contagious, but in a case as advanced as yours, well may god have mercy on the rest of humanity.

  • @jankijubilee1 why because I speak the truth My van has a V6 and it's a van I get to 60 in 5 and a half seconds and do a 13.5 in the quarter @98mph

  • @sirlonghair Sure, sure. I'd like to see a video of that.

  • @jankijubilee1 have you ever heard of a typhoon Astro AWD is the same drive train I have high pressure fuel system low restriction exhaust and had My brother do some of his voodoo tune My Astro is way lighter than a typhoon it's empty as a delivery I took the passenger seat out for the run along with the jack spare tire... anything else not bolted down and it has nearly 200,000Miles I have the old transmission lines weeping from torque launching it it goes in for repair this week headers next

  • @jankijubilee1 it is the same drive train as the Typhoon AWD I put high pressure fuel system low restriction exhaust 3" all the way back(headers on order)smooth flippy thingy in the fuel injection intake brother did some timing I took out the passenger seat and anything else not bolted down and it has nearly 200,000miles the original tranny lines are weeping fluid from torque launching it repairing that this week programmable chip is next to change shift points & do a better tune low 12's easy

  • @sirlonghair bet it doesn't go round corners tho, as its american. big lardyvan lol!

  • @sirjakethebrit drive it daily it corners just fine the road has corners and I turn the weal and it's amazing it goes right around them

  • @sirlonghair lmao yeah I've driven lots of cars that can corner as well

  • @sirjakethebrit It's German... It's a Bimmer. And the Mini website said most of them are built in Oxford UK except the Countryman is built in Austria. Not quite American.

  • the best thing about all Coopers are... you can customize it any way you like, Funky, glitzy, elegant, anything to make it as personal as you're.

  • 16 people are not petrol heads

  • I used to own a 1991 Mini Cooper S when I lived in England. I had several cars over there and it was easily the most fun. Now I live in the US and I own a Mustang. Easily the most fun car I owned since I moved over here. They are so different yet both put a smile on my face every time I drive them.

  • By the way, what british car is owned by a british company?

  • @marietorma Morgan!

  • just watch and enjoy the car. give tribute to the man, John Cooper, so , you sissy pricks, stop whining where is it made or who made who!

  • no torquesteer because BMW made it :)

german engineering , BMW passion for driving , and english styling = perfection

  • @adpmol Wrong mate, Rover designed and developed it, my uncle was in development team at Longbridge, BMW couldn't package it enough. BMW 1-series is a Rover design as well, meant to replace Rover 200 but BMW sold them and kept the rights to the MINI brand and design of 1-series.

  • @hamster639 BMW are fucktards for killing the rover brand by buying it. imagine how awesome rover would be with the MINI, the 1 series and their 3 series killer sedan.

  • Such problematic cars :0(

  • @hummurabi2010 Are they?

  • @Marcoshary Yea they are, many of their parts are proprietary and god forbid someone buys an automatic mini. the 2002 to 2005 (or so) automatic mini has the CVT which is basically a rubberband and it breaks down before 90,000 and it costs 7,000 american dollars to replace!!!

the 2002 to 2004 (or so) have the midlands manual transmission which is insanely brittle and will not go past 100,000 miles even with proper maintenance. i could go on all day, i drive an 03 indi blue mini :0/

  • @hummurabi2010 ...errm i had a 52 plate cooper.. and had alot of add ons pushing the HP to 140+ and I had no problems at all apart from the power steering pump, my only problem with the gearbox was the 2nd gear was a bit hard to get in... apart from that it was perfect.

  • you can easily realise that his britis..

  • @762SLR762 the design was created by BMW thats why its called the MINI not the Mini, the engine was made in brazil at one point im not sure if it still is

  • funny how this thing has less room in it than a real mini

  • I don't give a damn where its made, where the engine came from, even if the Queen of England and the Pope assembled the whole car. I just want to trash it!

  • @762SLR762 See now I can respect you because you have both proper grammer, and you support evidence. Anyhow look it up Mini was first joint designed by Rover and BMW, then they split and BMW did the whole project there way, aka why its MINI (BMW) not just MINI. Pointy object?

  • @MrInCarCam your right it is MINI cause it is by BMW

  • @762SLR762 *sigh* Mini is owned by BMW, the engine was designed by BMW and most of the unibody is from the e46, they brag about using e46 strut mounts every day which is why it corners so well. Also where are you getting this shit about mercedes being english? The founder was German, if your going to try and state facts atleast do your research before hand. Also how great can English engine design be if most english cars use outsource engines, range rover, lotus, ariel, RR (Now bmw) etc.

  • this guy did always talk trollop

  • @762SLR762 I know. I didn't bother to write more.

  • This english bulldog is my favirote newer car

    My Fav car is a 68' Charger R/T 440+6, with a 4 speed stick.

  • @MT323able why did ur mother even bother giving birth to you, go kill yourself.

  • @Chingonshushu Is it really painful to have realized that mini cooper drivers look like idiotic fools in a tinny car??? :)

  • @MT323able your idoit coming here and writing.... you bloody YANK spell realised properly, its English your writing in now go drive in a straight line lol prick!

  • @Chingonshushu idiotic tinny cars... :)

  • @MT323able So far in every minicooper video I've watched I've seen you comment on these "idiotic tinny cars". If there so idiotic and tinny why is your dumbass watching the videos? Me thinks you have a personal grudge against a car and has to QQ on all the videos about it :*(.

  • @MT323able What do you drive asshole? Don't lie.......

  • @ballandchain410 I drive a idiotic tinny car...I look even more idiot inside one. :)

  • @MT323able Personal preference. A private channel, youtube spamming whore like yourself should realize that no? Nvm, definitely not.

  • the supercharger in the r53 sounds so good and gives such a go constant acceleration. Why the hell have they fitted the new one with a turbo!!! I mean who cares about fuel consumption in a cooper s

  • I HATE the BMW Mini. It raped the legend of the REAL Mini.

  • buy a clio 172 cup for half the price and go twice as quick ; )

  • @HENRYHOBBS1 Then cry when it falls to bits or brakes down.....Or cry when you come to sell it and its worth fuck all lmao.

  • @cheryltweedyismint clio 172`s are just as reliable as mini`s,mini`s just have a more sturdy build.yeah mini`s do hold there values but it doesnt matter how good or reliable any mini is as any man driving one looks a gay or a twat.0-60 in 6.7 wid over 200bhp!!?? 172cup 6.5 : )

  • @HENRYHOBBS1 And any man in a french turd looks poor ;)

  • @cheryltweedyismint looks more like they know about drivers cars

  • @HENRYHOBBS1 I tinckered with the idea of buyin a Clio 172 a few years ago but opted for an EP3 Type R instead.Granted the clio is a great handling nippy car but the build quality is so off putting, Its always been the same with french cars, Its a shame really coz the french have built some iconic hot hatches over the years,Renault 5 turbo, Pug 205 GTI, MK1 Clio williams and the later Clio sports. The Mini is just as much a drivers car as the clio but with better build quality and more expensive

  • @cheryltweedyismint iv just sold a 205gti n bought a 172 cup n i do like mini`s,just there girly image i cant get round.205 n clio are both amazing drivers cars, the cup way faster a-b but the 205 is untouchable for driver involvement n steering feel, best hot hatch ever.type r`s are v quick but with a flawed chassis/steering.honda shouldnt have cut costs to make it 16k new
