"He needs to let that Ali hatred go though" - Blkserpent.
True words! I love Joe and I hate what Ali's actions created for Joe and his kids but for Joe's sake, I hope he focuses on the blessings in his life. You can't let your enemy live rent-free in your head, otherwise he's already won.
One of the ALL TIME GREATS!!! He needs to let that Ali hatred go though. Nobody knows who Frazier fought other than Ali. Still African Nation Representation in the ring. The greatest left hook of all time.
Se Joe Frazier si fosse ritirato nel 1972 , campione del mondo e imbattuto , campione olimpico tra i dilettanti , sarebbe ricordato come il più grande peso massimo di tutti i tempi .
You are right Joe! You won them all, because the Lord is with you. God honors those who honor him and that's what you've done.To God Be The Glory(A.Crouch)
Maybe not the greatest "boxer" in terms of boxing, but in terms of heart, will, endurance, humbleness and strength. He was one of the all-time greats and a real legend and I love Smokin' Joe Frazier. He's a nice fellow. He always gives out prizes on facebook and I won a T-Shirt and signed autograph from him.
Ali was definitely very mean and cruel to Joe Frazier, also extremely disrespectful to the retired Joe Louis. Though Ali was always very smart, clever, Ali didn't learn how to read until in to his 30s.
This was because he fooled around in school, mouthed off, didn't respect his teachers - if you've ever taught in an inner city public school, you will recognize this type - bright young boys who are constant trouble, refuse to listen, refuse to learn - always insulting, acting bad - that was Ali
@itsareligionofpeace Okay, I don't know everything about Ali, but I am a huge fan, and I've never heard that he was illiterate until his 30's. That seems highly unlikely to me for two reasons. 1. There is a picture of him reading a book about psychological warfare in his dressing room before the sonny liston fight in his brief biography the greatest. 2. He was very close with Malcolm X a man who valued education above all. Malcolm would not have allowed Ali to remain illiterate.
"I don't know everything about Ali, but I am a huge fan, and I've never heard that he was illiterate until his 30's. "
Well, you learned something new today.
M. Ali did humble himself in later years and learned how to read. I think that if he had to do it all over again he wouldn't have been so mean to Joe Frazier and Joe Louis and maybe found a way to do some military service for the US of A. In later years Ali said lots of positive things about our/his country.
@itsareligionofpeace Ali said he wasnt a good student (duh.. he's a boxer) but none of his boxing coaches who knew him from age 12 described him as disrespectful to adults. They say he and his brother Rudolph were nice kids who didn't drink or smoke or get in trouble. As far as Ali saying mean things to Frazier, we're talking about Joe Frazier here. He hit George Chuvalo so hard his eyeball popped out the socket. He's tougher than hell in a hurricane. I think he can take an insult or two.
i love ali. is he the greatest? no. that honor, as even he says, rightfully belongs to the original sugar. as far as best heavyweight, it's frazier. think about it, ali lost to ken norton, spinx, frazier, holmes and 1 other. frazier only lost to foreman and ali, if not for futch stopping the thrilla, frazier would've won, ali admitted he was "near death", and frazier had plenty left for the last rd15. and frazier did it with a bad eye, a short reach, and a sizable height disadvantage.
Ali had the looks, the moves, the talk, the brashness, the charm, but it was Frazer who had the courage of a lion. If fights were won on courage alone, Frazer would
be the ultmate champion. When you look at both boxers today, you see what a brutal sport boxing is, in the end there are no winners only the promoters.
@toshyist Are you crazy!!!!! Ali fought and survived for 15 rounds with a BROIKEN JAW! Getting punched on a broken jaw and refusing to give up!!!!! That tops anything, any punishment Joe enddured!!!!!! Ali Fucks over FRAzier courage wise; and anybody else. Nobody but Ali fought with a broken JAW!!!!!!!
die hard Ali fan, but the methods he applied to make Frazier look so low and inhumane before all thier fights was deplorable and i think the last fight (if not all three) should have went in Fraziers favor. Ali never returned the favor that Frazier did when he helped the butterfly get his boxing license back. its a very sad episode, please watch the 9 part documentary of the thrilla in manilla
@molred Yours is the stupidest comment ever on here. Frazier didn't lay a glove on him in the second fight. Yet you say Frazier should have won it? You are an ass. An Ali hater; you are dirt after all Ali endured to be the greateswt ever. Yet your lkowly ass would deprive him? Scum!!!!!
@molred Please, excuse my bad manner last post; totally uncalled for. But tell me, why do you think the thrilla should have gone in Frazier's favor when he couldn't land a punch in the last 2 rounds and all he took was a vicious, unrelenting beating, while he was exhausted, eyes shut, closed, bloody, couldn't see and surrendered a TKO victim? & in fight 2 he hardly landed a punch? How do you figure Frazior should have won them.
@sdamon7 You obviously have not seen Ali fight Ken Norton 15 rounds with his gotda$%^ jaw broken and refusing his cornners admonastions to give up, have you? Frazier can't PHUCK with dat!!!!!!!!! Nobody else either! I'm getting tired of this heart of a lion stuff that don't include ALI!!! He's not considered the greatest for nothing!!! Nobody PHUCKS with Ali's COURAGE in the ring!!! Bar none!!!! Im 51 this TuesDAY; i'VE SEEN THEM ALL! ALII IS THE MOST COURAGEOUSE CHAMPION EVER!!! . jOES 2ND!
@sdamon7 yOU'RE JUST A STUPID AZZ! jOE NEVER FOUGHT kEN nORTON WITH HIS DAMN JAW BROKEN; CONSTANTLY GETTING HIT ON IT AND NOT GIVING UP. ONLY ALI DID. aLI IS THE MOST COURAGEOUS FIGHTER EVER. GET IT STRAIGHT. NOT FRAZIER. With a broken jaw Frazier would have given in; like he did in MANILA!!!!!. You all know nothing about boxing history. Damn; you and the rest are absolute ASSES! Stupid PHUCKS!!! Frazier's always SECOND to the GREATEST MUHAMAD ALI!!! Fraziers 2nd 2 ALI,& the cause of his hate.
For everyone who complains that Ali said mean things about Frazier, you need to look at things from a different angle. Ali's boxing is what won his fights, but its his trash talking that made millions of people willing to pay to see those fights. Ali made Fraziers mega rich by saying the things he said. The Uncle Tom cracks were a low blow though.
@ernhutch187 sure, a lot of Ali's talk was promotion, hype and the public all over the world loved "The Mouth", particularly the British public, but other times Ali was mean, selfish and cruel and he was bad for the boxing sport. He didn't do things like sponsor police athletic league boxing, golden gloves - Ali was part of that selfish youth 60s culture that dismissed the POLICE, the SYSTEM. Ali through his Olympic gold medals in the river in a display of childish anger.
@itsareligionofpeace When Ali was boxing, deadly police brutality toward African Americans was the status quo in every major US city. Of course Ali didn't sponsor any police athletics. And who cares about a gold medal, if in your own home-town, they'll let dogs into certain places where you a, gold medalist, can't go because you're black? Also, Ali gave up his title and three of his prime boxing years to protest the Vietnam war, and he knew he wouldnt have to fight. How is that selfish?
@ernhutch187 writes: Ali was boxing, deadly police brutality toward African Americans was the status quo in every major US city. Of course Ali didn't sponsor any police athletics.... protest Vietnam war".
Typical 60s Leftist B.S.
You forgot to mention the glorious Black urban riots/"Uprisings" in places like Newark, Watts, Detroit - these "uprisings" made places like Detroit in to such beautiful, prosperous places of social justice.
@itsareligionofpeace You should just back off from discussing black issues of the past and present. Unless you've studied them extensively, you wont really understand what you're talking about. As far as the riots go, imagine living in a society where you, your family, and probably everyone who you've ever had a meaningful relationship with was branded as sub-human. Then imagine that this had been going on since before your grandmother was born with no end in sight. Then criticize the rioters.
@itsareligionofpeace The riots of the 60's are well known because they were anomolies. From 1519, when blacks arrived in America until 1965,race riots meant whites destroying black areas. Watts in 1965 was the 1st time blacks ever banded together and attacked white areas(aside from slave revolts). Look up the Tulsa riots 1921, the Rosewood riots 1923, the July Riots 1910, or the red summer of 1919( blacks literally burned at the stake). Criticize some "glorious" white riots. There were lots.
How about the Irish draft riots in New York City in the 1860s? Irish, Irish/Americans protesting the Civil War draft to fight the Confederates. These riots resulted in mass murder of Blacks in New York City - also targeted hating upper Class American Protestants who looked down on Irish immigrants.
Do you know your history? What was the cause of the Detroit riots/uprising in 1967?
@itsareligionofpeace If what you got out of my words is that I must "like" riots, and mob violence, your mental level seems too low for us to debate. So this will be my last post to you. 1st, everyone knows about the NY draft riots of 1963. There was an Oscar winning movie about them. 2nd it happens that I once did a research project on John Conyers so I've studied the Detroit riots. But if i didn't, I clearly have the net, so I could just look it up and fake it. Your pop-quiz is pointless.
@itsareligionofpeace Ali was bad for boxing? Why? Not only did he bring more money and fans to the sport than any other boxer, he raised the level of competition by showing everyone that a big man can move with the grace and agility of the guys in the smaller weight classes. He also had 25 title fights, won 11 fights vs hall of famers, ducked no one, and KO'd George Foreman. What do you want from him? By the way, look up the vid Ali saves man from suicide if you think he's cruel and selfish.
@ernhutch187 Ali was certainly a very skilled "boxer", very fast hands and of course very exciting and entertaining and towards the end of his life, he did become nicer, more humble and kind to others and think better of our country America.
Joe Frazier is an awesome dude.He was a big part of the broadcast for the Rumble in The Jungle fight along with Jim Brown David Frost and unfortunatly the 'Colnel Bob Sheridan.Ali is landing howitzer lead right hands and Sheridan is saying 'Ali gets the first punch in a light right hand taken on the forehead by George Foreman the champion' the whole broadcast is an amazing glimpse into an epic event.
boxing is bad for the brain. anyway smokin joe is a class act. i can't believe they put a statue of the phony rocky balboa in philly, when the real heavyweight champ came from the city. sly stallone is a draft dodging midget.
@deicidaldemon darn right. there should be a statue of smokin joe frazier in philly. not of "movie character", rocky balboa. smokin joe almost knocked ali's head off. awesome
dude i love joe frazier n im not talkin shit but everytime i see these old timers who took a lot of shots it makes me not ever wanna take another hard one
A TRUE STORY ABOUT JOE FRAZIER: I was at a dinner at the Plaza in NY when I was 13 years old, it was a sport dinner for Reggie Jackson. I asked Reggie for his autograph and he said he was eating—while he held a breadstick in his hand. Joe saw me feeling down and called me over, "come here kid I'll give you mine" I thanked him and then he said to Reggie, you do that to one more kid and i'll take care of you real good.
Man, my eyes became wide open with joy and I never forgot that.
I swear all yall are bitches...Joe and Ali always took jabs at each other comically even after retirement...It was their way of staying forever young. Yall take shit to seriously. You havent ever had friends that you clown on but at the end of the day its all love? I swear our generation are some pussies.
Frazier openly stated in another interview that it was all for the camera's. As soon as they were off camera, it was business as usual....playing the hate game. Now get back in the kitchen and bake me some potatoes fool.
ALI record was 56-5.he fought 61 professional fights! if he was not stripped of his title for three and a half years(his prime),he would of easily been 71-5.he probably would of beat frazier the first time if he wasn't so ring rusty! whats frazier excuse for just having thirty somem fights?
yes definately, ali shouls of peaked in the mid 60's to early 70's, he would have wiped the floor with frazier if he had not been banned, but a prime frazier would ofl asted 15 rounds in my opinion
@saladooq And avoiding the big punchers like Liston, who came back after Ali was stripped in late sixties? How did Joe avoid Ernie Shavers during his reign? Why did he not fight Norton? I'd feel a lot better about Joe if he had faced and defeated those 3; Ali had to, how did Joe not have to? I believe Liston and Shavers with their size and power in both hands that surpassed Frazier's power in the one hand, would have knocked Frazier's head off in either a KO or TKO.
@saladooq No telling what his excuse is but the truth is: Utter destruction at the hands of Ali and Foreman; and yeah, probably at the hands of young Larry Holmes too had Joe not already been too demolished to dare challenge him.
@saladooq Right! They all know; but why would they deny it if they are not haters? All their vapor thin excuses & unfounded claims of conspiracies have been demolished, &the only thing a sensible person would do is to judge the man by his ring record. But they won't, they instead use speculations full of wishful thinking, lies &mysterious conspiracy theories to diminish the accomplishments that qualify him as the number 1 candidate in the "whose the greatest" debate. Why do they do it? Hate.
ali was a racist punk who constantly bashed white people and america.very arrogant and a muslim who associated with militant types.i dont recall him denouncing the 911 attacks.
Frazier went 42 rounds with Ali whom never knocked him out. Frazier was a brawler that fought on heart and guts and earned his place in boxing history. Ali was a tactician and stategist with skill and speed . Ali was a tremendous athlete that made an ass out of most opponents he faced. Thanks for the memorys Ali and Joe .
He had 37 fights because his style was swarming. People with those styles dont have longevity, especially when your getting knocked by the best of the best and hardest punchers in history!
@POTATER1228 Wrong; how about Joe Louis? Or Roberto Duran? and a bunch of other swarmers who lasted? and I bet even you can think of some others if you use your brain instead of your emotions. FANATICS will say anything on these sites.
@MrPerryrice Louis was a swarmer? Come on man. That guy was a boxer puncher. And swarmers tend to not have longevity becasue they tend to take more punishment. Look how downhill Duran was at 29 compared to his days at lightweight. Anyone who says 30 year old roberto duran was still in his prime is delsuional. He was still good, but not prime. It's common sense that someone who boxes like Toney or Mayweather is gonna have a longer career than Frazier or Duran
@POTATER1228 Why are you playing with words? Instead of just admitting that Louis was a swarmer too you call him a boxer puncher - the man was a swarmer who just happened to be a better boxer than say Tyson. Aside from that, both swarmed their opponent. Watch Louis' films and you'll see. Plus everyone knows Duran swarmed even better than Tyson as a lightweight. Both Louis and Duran who enjoyed extensive careers, prove you're wrong to say Swarmers don't have longevity.
@MrPerryrice Okay my friend. You clearly are using different jargon then I am. If you think Tyson is a traditional, by the book definitiion of the "swarmer" then you are mistaken. and Louis was by traditional defiantion a boxer puncher. And Duran is probably the closet man you have mentioned to be a swarmer, but thats not 100% true either. And you are mentioning the outstanding individuals, not the average boxer. These men are the exception NOT the rule. Compare joe frazier of 71 to joe of 75
@POTATER1228 You're right, we're just speaking two different languages here. Before we can proceed with the discussion we need to syncronize our definitions of what a SWARMER is & what the BOXER /PUNCHER is, so please define the terms and the difference between the two for me. Where can this 'by the book definition of the swarmer be found? & boxer/puncher too? Then we'll be on the same page, because I'm perplexed why you don't see Tyson as a swarmer? or Duran? or Joe of 75? Did they not swarm?
@MrPerryrice Im using text book old school definitons of swarmer and boxer punchers used by Jim Brown, Ray Arcel, and even Bert Sugar. Swarmer's are people like Henry Armstrong people who fight you really close with face to your shoulder, like. so close they're in constant contact. Tyson if you look closely rarely did that. He would assault at mid-range to duck and slip punches. Also swarmers usually keep punching at you DURING clinches. Tyson would not. He would not punch you in a clinch
@MrPerryrice he would actually stop punching. Let the ref seperate him and his opponent and continue his peek-a-boo assault at mid range. Go ahead watch a Mike Tyson fight and see how he hands a clinch. And Duran although known for really fighting on the inside and swarming, could be incredibly defensive when he wanted to. Really slick. Even using his Jab well to keep people mid-range. Joe of 1975 was not as good as joe of 71 because his swarming style led him to excessive punishment.
@POTATER1228 OK, I do not know if your definition is correct, but I'll take your word for it; So by your definition Joe of 75 was a swarmer, but with diminished abilities. And Tyson wasn't because he attacked without his head being in the opponents chest. OK to that too, and same of Joe Louis- no swarmer, Duran also. Is Pac Man a swarmer?
@MrPerryrice Pacquaio is not really a swarmer. If anything he was a brawler in his early career. He's hard to classify. Maybe a boxer-puncher, that's a little unorthdox would be fair. Also to be answer another question I saw you post. Frasier (God rest his soul) did not fight Norton becasue they were friends and Neighbors.
r u sure? ali made him you twat! foreman hammered frazier x2. ali beat norton, forman, listion x2, bugner x2, frazier x2, patterson x2, earnie shavers, spinks, cleveland, wepner, archie moore, cooper x2, Buster Mathis, quarry x2, young all they top heavyweights during his time. even if ali didnt whoop him twice, he would still be the greatest due to the competition he fought! wht a record and thats not eveyone!!!
Man I hope every body realize what you are saying but for the sake of it God Bless you and God Bless all boxers who didn't end up drunk and hanging out clubs before their graves swallow them... Peace
@rizzi2007 I'm sure, without Frazier, Ali would be just another black heavyweight. Fun arguing with fan boys stuck on Ali's dick though so please, continue.
if u look at it like this, when ali changed his name the whole if the middle east and north africa knew about him and welcomed him as a muslim brother, when refused the to fight in the Vietnam war for what he believed in every place that ever knew struggle knew about him.
@Christofides1 ali made himself big once a century god drops people 2 earth and they become legends ali was 1 of them joe is a great sportman and great man but ali was bigger then boxing bigger then life he made the show ali didnt need anyone we all needed ali

Joe got it once, Ali got twice. I love Joe but he is not 5000 miles close to Ali. When i watched this interview i really thought twice about Joe and the conclusion is he is disrespectful, rude and racist toward Ali beliefs. Who knows about Frazier now, who knows about Ali every body because he was and still is a decent man with millions of people inspired by him backing him up. May peace spread through All peoples minds especially fraizer.
Well yeah he's being very ugly.. I'm not saying he's a saint, I'm saying he probably has a good reason. And I dont see how the documentary is 'biased', it just shows how ugly Ali could be- its just a shame he couldnt speak for himself there but his cornermen represented him.
Exactly, frazier is being disrespectful in this video but with reason. Ali and frazier were friends and when ali was at a low point joe frazier helped him and even lent him money, then when ali is back on top he disrespects joe by insulting him and calling him out. I'd be pretty pissed if a dude i helped did that to me!
agree with you, but ali paid him back by losing fight against frazier. dont tell me frazier beaten him, it was ali who intentionally lost, its also mentioned in movie " ali " which closely represent M.Ali's Life.
@aromeo21 Get the hell out of here with that shit. Ali didn't lose that damn fight on purpose. And as far as how close the movie followed his life, let me tell you, they got A LOT wrong in that movie. I'm not gonna list all the points here, but I'll say this. The incident where his wife shows up in Africa didn't happen that way. It was Manila with Frazier III that he introduced Veronica Porshe as his wife to President Marcos that got his wife fred up. There's more where that came from too.
@mastoon idk why you would get any thumbs down. Frazier is sounding like an arrogant ass.
Frazier u got ur ass kicked, and Ali fainted before the 15th round... U could of won u dumbshit... plus he sounds retarded and coked out, who is he to say "look at ali" ugh ya this is why I don't like Frazier.
I can recall when Cosell was interviewing Ali and Frazier and Ali was poking fun at Fraziers speech patter and making it sound like Joe was stupid. Joe out of frusteration got out of his seat and was going to wack Ali. Ali said Joe sit down. Alis body guard got up to protect him. They had to take Joe to the floor. I can remember that so clear. It was before there second fight. You could tell it was not a put on. Joe was pissed and was about to hit someone!

Some of the things Ali did and said to Frazier while Frazier supported Ali were crazy. Ali is a living legend, but he couldn't expect any kinder words from a man he thoroughly tortured. Smoking Joe had some heart!
''look back at the fights, whos winning now'' sick SOFB shouldnt even grace video with such mindless sick comments like that, ali's condidtion is a tragedy and he has brought more light to this world then frazier has or EVER will.

Joe Frazier had no heart,He quit in manila and let his corner take the blame,He folded like an accordian against the first real puncher he faced in george foreman
A real fighter with a glass jaw would have atleast put up a fight but old uncle glass jaw frazier let foreman rape him
Actually he didnt quit the ref called the fight off due 2 health issues and serious injury 2 the face. Do ur research man. On video he is saying "no,o keep it going, i wanna fight"...loser

he needs 2 stop trying to rhyme like ali. its ali's thing. and he changed the rhyme in the beggining becuz at first, he said `This is smoking Joe Frazier, sharp as a razor, float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, you know who did that to him, that be me, call you later, bye' ...I find that VERY mean to say that about ali, that is really really low to joke about a man's suffering. its sad
well you must know ali assualted frazier with verbal assualts during their fights.. to you it must make you feel sad.. but to frazier its just revenge for all the shit ali said to him...

Joe Frazier doesn't get the respect he deserves from some Ali fans. Even Ali said, after the third bout while being interviewed in the ring, "he is the greatest fighter of all times next to me". No one games Ali the punishment Frazier did, not even Foreman who is one of the most powerful punchers of all time. Frazier even fought with a bum eye which makes him even greater than people even know. I love Ali's charisma and Frazier's heart.
The last interview i saw Joe on was "champions forever" documentary and to me it seems he has recovered maybe 10% of his "punch drunk" which most great fighters suffer from so many years of battering,he sounds sharp and looks in great shape. What a great fighter he was.

or how about frazier in 66 and ali in 66, that would be fair right? frazier would pound ali because that was before his eye injury that left him nearly blind in one of his eyes. Funny, he still went on to beat ali in 71 with pretty much 1 eye and punish him in thrilla in manilla. in 66 with both eyes and in his prime ali would have been mince meat. fucking idiot
bullshit, frazier could see out of both eyes in 66, he would kill ali. The only reason why ali ever hurt him at all in any of their fights is because frazier couldnt see the majority of the right hands coming due to his bad left eye he hurt late in 66. you saw how he killed ali in 72, and the only reason why ali stood a chance in the later fights was because of fraziers bad eye, and ali constantly holding his head down
whatever, you know what I mean, their first fight. good comeback by the way, you didnt answer any of the points I made, all you said was "ali is better than frazier" you can say that all day but if you dont have any real reasons, like I do, that actually back up your argument it means nothing. frazier was better, if he had full vision ali wouldnt have won any of their 3 matches
No actually frazier was at his best in their 1st fight. If Ali was in his prime he would destroy frazier through dancing and lghtning fast combinations.
I'm not just talking about prime I'm talking about vision. Frazier lost it in late 66 I'm pretty sure. If they were both in their primes AND frazier had full vision it wouldnt be a contest.
yes it would be a hell of a contest. Ali would win the early rounds like in the other fights but would not lose it in the middle. It would be a fight to the death and seeing what ali could do in his prime he would win.
I disagree. If frazier had 2 eyes his punches would be much more accurate with his rock hard punches and he would be even more precise with his head movement and blocking. he would overwhelm ali even more so than he did in their first fight because there would be much more accuracy in those deadly left hooks and ali's punches would be landing a lot less due to even more precisely timed head movement
wow,I mean Frazier was great but how can you possibly say that he is better than Ali? Frazier didn`t have any serious match other than those five (3 Ali and 2 Foreman),and he won one by decision, lost one by decision and 3 by TKO.Ali beat everyone from 1960 to 1978 (Liston,Patterson,Cooper,Quary,Bonavena,Frazier,Foreman,N

@2pacinseattle
Maybe not the greatest "boxer" in terms of boxing, but in terms of heart, will, endurance, humbleness and strength. He was one of the all-time greats and a real legend and I love Smokin' Joe Frazier. He's a nice fellow. He always gives out prizes on facebook and I won a T-Shirt and signed autograph from him.
truebeliever786 11 months ago
Ali was definitely very mean and cruel to Joe Frazier, also extremely disrespectful to the retired Joe Louis. Though Ali was always very smart, clever, Ali didn't learn how to read until in to his 30s.
This was because he fooled around in school, mouthed off, didn't respect his teachers - if you've ever taught in an inner city public school, you will recognize this type - bright young boys who are constant trouble, refuse to listen, refuse to learn - always insulting, acting bad - that was Ali
itsareligionofpeace 1 year ago
@itsareligionofpeace Okay, I don't know everything about Ali, but I am a huge fan, and I've never heard that he was illiterate until his 30's. That seems highly unlikely to me for two reasons. 1. There is a picture of him reading a book about psychological warfare in his dressing room before the sonny liston fight in his brief biography the greatest. 2. He was very close with Malcolm X a man who valued education above all. Malcolm would not have allowed Ali to remain illiterate.

Well, you learned something new today.
M. Ali did humble himself in later years and learned how to read. I think that if he had to do it all over again he wouldn't have been so mean to Joe Frazier and Joe Louis and maybe found a way to do some military service for the US of A. In later years Ali said lots of positive things about our/his country.
itsareligionofpeace 1 year ago

DJglasgowSon 1 year ago
Ali had the looks, the moves, the talk, the brashness, the charm, but it was Frazer who had the courage of a lion. If fights were won on courage alone, Frazer would
be the ultmate champion. When you look at both boxers today, you see what a brutal sport boxing is, in the end there are no winners only the promoters.

@toshyist Are you crazy!!!!! Ali fought and survived for 15 rounds with a BROIKEN JAW! Getting punched on a broken jaw and refusing to give up!!!!! Muhammad Ali said and did some terrible things back then. Especially to Frazier, and his family.
It's pretty hard to forgive him for something like that.
Good boxer or not, Muhammad Ali was a crazy ego-maniac.
But hey; Karma bites. Parkinsons.

die hard Ali fan, but the methods he applied to make Frazier look so low and inhumane before all thier fights was deplorable and i think the last fight (if not all three) should have went in Fraziers favor. Ali never returned the favor that Frazier did when he helped the butterfly get his boxing license back. its a very sad episode, please watch the 9 part documentary of the thrilla in manilla

@molred Please, excuse my bad manner last post; totally uncalled for. How do you figure Frazior should have won them.

MrPerryrice 5 months ago
For everyone who complains that Ali said mean things about Frazier, you need to look at things from a different angle. Ali's boxing is what won his fights, but its his trash talking that made millions of people willing to pay to see those fights. Ali made Fraziers mega rich by saying the things he said. The Uncle Tom cracks were a low blow though.
ernhutch187 1 year ago
@ernhutch187 sure, a lot of Ali's talk was promotion, hype and the public all over the world loved "The Mouth", particularly the British public, but other times Ali was mean, selfish and cruel and he was bad for the boxing sport. He didn't do things like sponsor police athletic league boxing, golden gloves - Ali was part of that selfish youth 60s culture that dismissed the POLICE, the SYSTEM. Ali through his Olympic gold medals in the river in a display of childish anger.
itsareligionofpeace 1 year ago
@itsareligionofpeace When Ali was boxing, deadly police brutality toward African Americans was the status quo in every major US city. Of course Ali didn't sponsor any police athletics. And who cares about a gold medal, if in your own home-town, they'll let dogs into certain places where you a, gold medalist, can't go because you're black? Also, Ali gave up his title and three of his prime boxing years to protest the Vietnam war, and he knew he wouldnt have to fight. How is that selfish?
ernhutch187 1 year ago
@ernhutch187 writes: Ali was boxing, deadly police brutality toward African Americans was the status quo in every major US city. Of course Ali didn't sponsor any police athletics.... protest Vietnam war".
Typical 60s Leftist B.S.
You forgot to mention the glorious Black urban riots/"Uprisings" in places like Newark, Watts, Detroit - these "uprisings" made places like Detroit in to such beautiful, prosperous places of social justice.
itsareligionofpeace 1 year ago
@itsareligionofpeace You should just back off from discussing black issues of the past and present. Unless you've studied them extensively, you wont really understand what you're talking about. As far as the riots go, imagine living in a society where you, your family, and probably everyone who you've ever had a meaningful relationship with was branded as sub-human. Then imagine that this had been going on since before your grandmother was born with no end in sight. Then criticize the rioters.
ernhutch187 1 year ago
@itsareligionofpeace The riots of the 60's are well known because they were anomolies. From 1519, when blacks arrived in America until 1965,race riots meant whites destroying black areas. Watts in 1965 was the 1st time blacks ever banded together and attacked white areas(aside from slave revolts). Look up the Tulsa riots 1921, the Rosewood riots 1923, the July Riots 1910, or the red summer of 1919( blacks literally burned at the stake). Criticize some "glorious" white riots. There were lots.
ernhutch187 1 year ago
@ernhutch187 seems to like riots, mob violence.
What was the cause of the Detroit riots/uprising in 1967?
itsareligionofpeace 1 year ago
@itsareligionofpeace If what you got out of my words is that I must "like" riots, and mob violence, your mental level seems too low for us to debate. So this will be my last post to you. 1st, everyone knows about the NY draft riots of 1963. There was an Oscar winning movie about them. 2nd it happens that I once did a research project on John Conyers so I've studied the Detroit riots. But if i didn't, I clearly have the net, so I could just look it up and fake it. Your pop-quiz is pointless.
ernhutch187 1 year ago
@itsareligionofpeace Ali was bad for boxing? Why? Not only did he bring more money and fans to the sport than any other boxer, he raised the level of competition by showing everyone that a big man can move with the grace and agility of the guys in the smaller weight classes. He also had 25 title fights, won 11 fights vs hall of famers, ducked no one, and KO'd George Foreman. What do you want from him? By the way, look up the vid Ali saves man from suicide if you think he's cruel and selfish.
ernhutch187 1 year ago
@ernhutch187 Ali was certainly a very skilled "boxer", very fast hands and of course very exciting and entertaining and towards the end of his life, he did become nicer, more humble and kind to others and think better of our country America.

RichyRoo90 2 years ago
@saladooq And avoiding the big punchers like Liston, who came back after Ali was stripped in late sixties? How did Joe avoid Ernie Shavers during his reign? Why did he not fight Norton? I'd feel a lot better about Joe if he had faced and defeated those 3; Ali had to, how did Joe not have to? I believe Liston and Shavers with their size and power in both hands that surpassed Frazier's power in the one hand, would have knocked Frazier's head off in either a KO or TKO.

He had 37 fights because his style was swarming. People with those styles dont have longevity, especially when your getting knocked by the best of the best and hardest punchers in history!
POTATER1228 2 years ago
@POTATER1228 Wrong; how about Joe Louis? Or Roberto Duran? and a bunch of other swarmers who lasted? and I bet even you can think of some others if you use your brain instead of your emotions. FANATICS will say anything on these sites.
MrPerryrice 5 months ago
@MrPerryrice Louis was a swarmer? Come on man. That guy was a boxer puncher. And swarmers tend to not have longevity becasue they tend to take more punishment. Look how downhill Duran was at 29 compared to his days at lightweight. Anyone who says 30 year old roberto duran was still in his prime is delsuional. He was still good, but not prime. It's common sense that someone who boxes like Toney or Mayweather is gonna have a longer career than Frazier or Duran
POTATER1228 5 months ago
@POTATER1228 Why are you playing with words? Instead of just admitting that Louis was a swarmer too you call him a boxer puncher - the man was a swarmer who just happened to be a better boxer than say Tyson. Aside from that, both swarmed their opponent. Watch Louis' films and you'll see. Plus everyone knows Duran swarmed even better than Tyson as a lightweight. Both Louis and Duran who enjoyed extensive careers, prove you're wrong to say Swarmers don't have longevity.
MrPerryrice 5 months ago
@MrPerryrice Okay my friend. You clearly are using different jargon then I am. If you think Tyson is a traditional, by the book definitiion of the "swarmer" then you are mistaken. and Louis was by traditional defiantion a boxer puncher. And Duran is probably the closet man you have mentioned to be a swarmer, but thats not 100% true either. And you are mentioning the outstanding individuals, not the average boxer. These men are the exception NOT the rule. Compare joe frazier of 71 to joe of 75
POTATER1228 5 months ago
@POTATER1228 You're right, we're just speaking two different languages here. Before we can proceed with the discussion we need to syncronize our definitions of what a SWARMER is & what the BOXER /PUNCHER is, so please define the terms and the difference between the two for me. Where can this 'by the book definition of the swarmer be found? & boxer/puncher too? Then we'll be on the same page, because I'm perplexed why you don't see Tyson as a swarmer? or Duran? or Joe of 75? Did they not swarm?
MrPerryrice 5 months ago
@MrPerryrice Im using text book old school definitons of swarmer and boxer punchers used by Jim Brown, Ray Arcel, and even Bert Sugar. Swarmer's are people like Henry Armstrong people who fight you really close with face to your shoulder, like. so close they're in constant contact. Tyson if you look closely rarely did that. He would assault at mid-range to duck and slip punches. Also swarmers usually keep punching at you DURING clinches. Tyson would not. He would not punch you in a clinch
POTATER1228 4 months ago
@MrPerryrice he would actually stop punching. Let the ref seperate him and his opponent and continue his peek-a-boo assault at mid range. Go ahead watch a Mike Tyson fight and see how he hands a clinch. And Duran although known for really fighting on the inside and swarming, could be incredibly defensive when he wanted to. Really slick. Even using his Jab well to keep people mid-range. Joe of 1975 was not as good as joe of 71 because his swarming style led him to excessive punishment.
POTATER1228 4 months ago
@POTATER1228 OK, I do not know if your definition is correct, but I'll take your word for it; So by your definition Joe of 75 was a swarmer, but with diminished abilities. And Tyson wasn't because he attacked without his head being in the opponents chest. OK to that too, and same of Joe Louis- no swarmer, Duran also. Is Pac Man a swarmer?
MrPerryrice 4 months ago
@MrPerryrice Pacquaio is not really a swarmer. If anything he was a brawler in his early career. He's hard to classify. Maybe a boxer-puncher, that's a little unorthdox would be fair. Also to be answer another question I saw you post. Frasier (God rest his soul) did not fight Norton becasue they were friends and Neighbors.

Some of the things Ali did and said to Frazier while Frazier supported Ali were crazy. Ali is a living legend, but he couldn't expect any kinder words from a man he thoroughly tortured. Smoking Joe had some heart!

''look back at the fights, whos winning now'' sick SOFB shouldnt even grace video with such mindless sick comments like that, ali's condidtion is a tragedy and he has brought more light to this world then frazier has or EVER will.

he needs 2 stop trying to rhyme like ali. its ali's thing. and he changed the rhyme in the beggining becuz at first, he said `This is smoking Joe Frazier, sharp as a razor, float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, you know who did that to him, that be me, call you later, bye' ...I find that VERY mean to say that about ali, that is really really low to joke about a man's suffering. its sad
dESIREdEZIRE 2 years ago
well you must know ali assualted frazier with verbal assualts during their fights.. to you it must make you feel sad.. but to frazier its just revenge for all the shit ali said to him...

A real comparison would be Ali in 1966 against Frazier 1971.
Frazier would look funny and helpless.
FORBAN2 2 years ago
or how about frazier in 66 and ali in 66, that would be fair right? frazier would pound ali because that was before his eye injury that left him nearly blind in one of his eyes. Funny, he still went on to beat ali in 71 with pretty much 1 eye and punish him in thrilla in manilla. in 66 with both eyes and in his prime ali would have been mince meat. fucking idiot
irishbull3t007 2 years ago
in "66 ? ali would beat him by KO
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
bullshit, frazier could see out of both eyes in 66, he would kill ali. The only reason why ali ever hurt him at all in any of their fights is because frazier couldnt see the majority of the right hands coming due to his bad left eye he hurt late in 66. you saw how he killed ali in 72, and the only reason why ali stood a chance in the later fights was because of fraziers bad eye, and ali constantly holding his head down
irishbull3t007 2 years ago
they didn't fight in 72 dumbass. Ali was better than frazier
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
whatever, you know what I mean, their first fight. good comeback by the way, you didnt answer any of the points I made, all you said was "ali is better than frazier" you can say that all day but if you dont have any real reasons, like I do, that actually back up your argument it means nothing. frazier was better, if he had full vision ali wouldnt have won any of their 3 matches
irishbull3t007 2 years ago
No actually frazier was at his best in their 1st fight. If Ali was in his prime he would destroy frazier through dancing and lghtning fast combinations.
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
I'm not just talking about prime I'm talking about vision. Frazier lost it in late 66 I'm pretty sure. If they were both in their primes AND frazier had full vision it wouldnt be a contest.
irishbull3t007 2 years ago
yes it would be a hell of a contest. Ali would win the early rounds like in the other fights but would not lose it in the middle. It would be a fight to the death and seeing what ali could do in his prime he would win.
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
I disagree. If frazier had 2 eyes his punches would be much more accurate with his rock hard punches and he would be even more precise with his head movement and blocking. he would overwhelm ali even more so than he did in their first fight because there would be much more accuracy in those deadly left hooks and ali's punches would be landing a lot less due to even more precisely timed head movement
irishbull3t007 2 years ago
And have you seen Ali in his prime? and if we are gonig to say that then what about what ali would have been like 68/69
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
ali was better than frazier and i'll counter attack any argument you have that says otherwise

wow,I mean Frazier was great but how can you possibly say that he is better than Ali? Frazier didn`t have any serious match other than those five (3 Ali and 2 Foreman),and he won one by decision, lost one by decision and 3 by TKO.Ali beat everyone from 1960 to 1978 (Liston,Patterson,Cooper,Quary,Bonavena,Frazier,Foreman,N
