In Season 1 of HIMYM, the "Pineapple Incident" episode, Jon's version of Cheap Trick's "Voices"--also from Meaningless--plays at the end. I think it may have been chopped from the DVD version for licensing issues, not sure.

I have long loved Jon Brion. I learned to love How I Met Your Mother later. Now I love it. I've seen every episode at least once, many twice. I really started to like Brion after Eternal Sunshine, and then even more after Huckabees. Just great music. Jon Brion is a music monster.

In another ep of HIMYM Ted calls Robin and sings "Voices" (I think it's "The Pineapple Incident" from S1). Brion has made a version of it too. I really recommend his album, Meaningless. I wish I'd seen him live before he got tendonitis and had to stop performing. He's a genius.
